Cedrick

Hr. Dr. Kasper and Freyja Ström’s teenage son.

A Wunderkind who recently graduated from medical school,  Cedrick is the Herr Doktor’s teenage son.  He’s a lab technician and general surgeon who is specializing in the new field of virtual and augmented surgery. Occasionally he’ll work with his father, especially since they’re both skilled with scalpels and share an office together. Many people often tease that he’s a clone of his father since he resembles him in many ways and had never seen his mother; he is also often found following after Faustuz like a duckling. Since both are called “Herr Doktor Kasper” at the hospital, coworkers often get confused which one to call for when there’s an emergency.

Cedrick also has “Odin’s Eye” like his father, also making him a future heir for the Kasper patriarchal title. He enjoys collecting souls and fighting alongside Faustuz against monsters, but is often left behind at the hospital or home to keep up with his father’s other work. He’s also relied upon for research on what creatures are and do so weapons can be commissioned from his grandfather Erik Ström. 

Cedrick is the family member tasked with taking care of the family pets: Klimt the Norwegian Forest Cat, Fräulein Flicka the Doberman/Hellhound, and Freud the Dachshund (it’s debatable whether Faustuz’s mutant fruit flies count as pets). He also helps his father care for rare mythical plants and displaced creatures in need of homes. Currently they have a Pink Fairy, a Hyōsube, a Wolpertinger, an Amabie, and a Mindanao Man-Eater sapling, but lately they’ve been hearing the occasional hoofbeats and neighing of a Sleipnir in the backyard; they also rehoused a Chickcarney that had lost his home nearby their coworker Tyrone Williams’ house (they planted a pine tree sapling).

Because of his unnatural intelligence, inexperience as a child, and lack of interaction with people his age, Cedrick can be a bit insensitive, arrogant, and naive. He’s said to be impulsive, crafty, and manipulative like his mother Freyja with just as much of an appreciation for art and fashion. Since he’s still technically a child, Cedrick is vulnerable to influences and peer pressure. He’s constantly teased by his coworker’s Tyrone Williams’ niece Tricia, often called “Dork 2.0” and “Dutch Boy”; Cedrick also tutors Tricia at a local boba tea cafe.
