Sigrid is not amused having a Grim Reaper watching over her as she walks home from school in Copenhagen - especially this one.
(Richard can be a bit of a creep because he’s much older and taller than Sigrid)

As a teenage girl with less than two years to live, Death decided to have a little mercy on Sigrid by sending Richard from Kiel to “observe her” until her time is up (Death also thought it’d be fun to play with the heart of one of his top reapers just because he can).
For her mother Aina, it was a huge relief because Sigrid had been attacked by bullies from school; Sigrid’s history teacher (and neighbor) also had been showing a strong interest in her aside from her academics, often stopping by the flower shop trying to convince Aina that Sigrid needs “extra lessons” (she knows better).
Aina also took an instant liking to Richard, knowing despite his past as a playboy and being the younger of 2 sons of one of the deadliest killers of both humans and mythical creatures, he has a good heart and that Kaspers are very serious about taking care of family and loved ones.
Richard initially was reluctant with dealing with a girl so young, having pity on her (as well as falling in love, knowing he could be in serious trouble being with a girl over 8 years younger than he is); with Aina’s blessing, Richard made it his goal to take care Sigrid by all means - even if he has to extract souls and give up his own life.

Hr. Dr. Kasper’s quirky grandmother, Sigrid’s mother Aina.
Aina always kept her past a secret, not saying who was Sigrid’s father, why she changed her last name, how she came to own an oddities and flower shop, etc.
Aina is albino, adding to her eccentric character that many fear; she’s often called a witch due to her vast knowledge of spells, potions, medicines, repellents, and cures.
Because of this, her only child Sigrid was often teased mercilessly by peers (aside from Sigrid’s love for video games, simple attire, and timid behavior).
Aina still lives and works at her flower shop in Copenhagen, Denmark making the same potions and repellents she did for Richard, only this time it’s her grandson Johannes Faustuz using them.

Sigrid on an unofficial date with Richard.
At this stage of their relationship, Sigrid was still overly cautious being with her foreign suitor, especially when she was outside of her mother’s flower shop with so many disapproving watchful eyes on the pair.

Faustuz usually doesn’t like being shown out in public via his wife’s work, but with a pair of red glasses and shiny gold shoes Freyja picked out for him, he actually feels like showing off this time.
Cedrick hasn’t been featured for the magazine yet, but Freyja has been itching to have a spread of her son soon.

Spring 1981:
Sigrid tending to her mother’s unusual grafted tree while Richard follows and keeps a close eye on her.
It’s before Richard left for a three-month-long trip to America (tracking down a rogue monster for a client), leaving Sigrid behind with a big surprise.
It’s also one of Aina’s favorite photos of her daughter and son-in-law together she took.
When Johannes Faustuz was a child, he would gag at it, rolling his eyes as his grandmother explains it’s most likely the first photo of him inside his mother (or at least right before he was conceived); as an adult, Faustuz still feels uneasy about the fact that his mother was only a teenager when she had him (and died) and that his father might of been a bit of a sleazy guy (considering his parents’ large age gap).
Faustuz now looks at the photo with pity, sadness, and anger, wishing he had more time with his mother Sigrid; he’s still disgusted in regards to his father Richard, but has a better understanding of why he married Sigrid.

Richard and Sigrid c. 1979-1980

Richard spoiled Sigrid with numerous gifts and trinkets over the months he visited Aina’s flower shop, hoping to win Sigrid’s heart and treat her with the best care until her death from her father’s curse due in less than two years.
Initially Sigrid was cautious and annoyed, especially with him being a foreigner, an older man known for having numerous relationships, and his family’s history.
But over time, she grew more curious about him, wondering why he hasn’t pursued another after so long; Sigrid began to personally accept Richard’s offerings, inspecting each one for its detail and authenticity, and even started wearing some of the pieces of jewelry and perfume given to her at high school.
It wasn’t until Richard fell seriously ill with Lovesickness, passing out and near death when Sigrid realized how much she actually loved him.
Richard had to recover in her room, leading to a more intimate moment and permanently cementing their relationship as a couple.
They were engaged February 1981, married in March, and had their only child in December before Sigrid died from her father’s curse.

Hr. Dr. Richard Kasper surrounded by a lot of holiday red and boca.
He holds an Iris, a birth flower of February - his beloved Sigrid’s birth month.
But at this point of time (c. 1979-1980), Sigrid hasn’t warmed up to Richard’s charms yet - she sees him as an annoying old foreign man with a lot of baggage constantly visiting her mother’s flower shop.

I’m still trying to figure out something more elaborate to draw for the season, but with work and feeling depressed about the state of where I live in comparison to other places in the world, it’s getting harder to look forward to making new things (and my birthday is coming up: it’s on Christmas Eve and 2020 is my “Jesus year” - more reason to hate this year).

I finally made a coloring sheet to share for the holidays!🎄

It ended up being Freyja and her hubby Johannes Faustuz because Christmas just reeks of their homelands (the only thing in the pic that’s not Scandinavian/Germanic is “Feliz Navidad”, a nod to their current home in California).

#charactersheet 3:
Tricia Williams and Cedrick Kasper.
They’re not a couple (over 5 years apart, Tricia being 19 and Cedrick 14-15), but the two are quasi-friends and often seen together mostly for tutoring sessions.

Tricia has always been a bit of a B- her whole life, but she has legit reasons (never had a dad around, mother died, being deathly allergic to animals, etc.).
After being taken in by her uncle Tyrone at age 16, Tricia has been adjusting to her new environment for the last few years.
She’s still wary being around the Kaspers for reasons, and finds their mishmash of Scandinavian/Japanese culture weird, on top of their ability to fight monsters and reap souls.
Tricia in general doesn’t like either Kasper guy by all means, (Hr. Dr. Kasper being too stern and Cedrick being a boy), but deep down inside she actually appreciates their help.
Cedrick, on the other hand, can be a bit too naïve, impressionable, and carefree.
He’s very sociable with other kids, always curious to learn about anything, and willing to share his knowledge with everyone; being a prodigy, his father Hr. Dr. Kasper affectionately calls him “Wunderkind”.
Cedrick is working on becoming a full-fledged surgeon like his father, but also has dabbled with design and crafting - showing potential for the Ström side of the family.
Cedrick doesn’t always like being around Tricia, but being Tyrone’s niece, Cedrick puts on a cheerful face and does his best to help her out (he actually had called her “B!tch” once out of frustration, which ended up with Tricia crying and his father hitting his head and screaming at him in their native language to apologize immediately).

Sigrid at this point had died after childbirth, at the end of the lifespan she had left from her father’s curse.
Though the whole family was devastated by Sigrid’s death during the holiday season, the birth of child brought the family closer together.
Unfortunately the stress of caring for a baby alone and the family business took a toll on Richard’s health, leading to his unexpected death and leaving Faustuz with his uncle Heinrich and his family.
I thought about making the mobile Christmas-themed (since Faustuz was born on 23 December), but it’s a tiny bit early to be posting that stuff (it’s in the 3rd slide).
And with Faustuz being born in the 1980s, there’s a few things some older Millennials might recognize in the Kasper nursery (I had to look up toys from the early 1980s; I’m a Millennial myself, but I don’t have many memories before 1992 and the toys I played with were mostly from the mid-1990s).

Cedrick has finally arrived!
He’s completely out of breath, unable to speak in either German or English after pedaling from the Kasper residence to a garden center then the Williams’ house.
Normally it’s a 5 Mi/8 Km trip one-way to the Williamses, but add in a trip to the local garden center in the opposite direction, Cedrick is one tired kid (he’s not old enough to drive yet).
It’s also not as easy to find a pine tree sapling around the start of the Holiday Season during Quarantine (most have been grown and sold to become Christmas trees).
The Chickcarney is more than happy to see any live pine tree to use as a portal to his spiritual home, but this one might need a little bit of growing more up for the Chickcarney to use it properly.
(Cedrick is going to get an earful from his papa for buying a year-old pine tree sapling...)
Also, Cedrick hardly calls his father “Papa” or “Vati” out of respect (he actually refers his grandfather Erik as “Papa”, so it adds to the weirdness and confusion calling his father “Papa”).
