Another simple color scheme pic with these two guys.🤦🏻‍♀️ I really need to find more challenging color schemes, lol. This one is basically hues of green, red, yellow with black line art and white accents for the eyes and lab coat. I kept the coloring flat since the line art is dark and quite bold. The line art style is a bit reminiscent of my inking with Sharpies back in 2006-07. I included both versions of the line art for coloring (just tag @frauv8 #colorthis_fv8). - The second version with Papa Kasper’s hair up was my final choice because it seems more balanced with the blank space (original version on last slide). No glasses for either one of them since the frames will interfere with the limited details on their faces, and the pic isn’t big and zoomed in. As usual, Cedrick has his mismatched scrubs and shoes (pink slipper on one foot, Adidas Superstar on the other) while his father Johannes Faustuz is in dark grey scrubs topped with a lab coat and wears Puma Suedes. Both father and son also have heterochromia, which is hard to see since their eyes are so light-colored (zoomed in slides might show it better). —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #sketchbookautodesk #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #characterdesign #characterstudy #colorscheme #malecharacters #doctors #fatherson #frauv8_ocs #frauv8

Tricia doesn’t want to admit that she’s just as happy to see an adorable pink delivery van decorated with baked goods only because she’s with someone she thinks is a dork. - Tricia and Cedrick hang out together usually during tutoring sessions since she just started university while he’s a Wunderkind; she’s not doing particularly well with taking tests so he offered to help her study better. Cedrick is 15 while Tricia is 18, so neither one thinks of the other as a romantic interest but rather as distant acquaintances despite Tyrone’s wishes for his niece to like Cedrick. ————— A couple years ago, Arcadia had a Hello Kitty Cafe. I was obsessed with their rose iced tea and mini cakes. But for whatever reason, it’s gone and hasn’t come back. I had seen the van once driving around, but now (the last time I’ve checked) the closest Hello Kitty Cafe is in Irvine. Looks like Freyja is relaxing in the bath staring off to the distance, or she has her eyes on something else... (2nd slide is an older pic from October 2019; adding a bit of color and adding it with this pic makes sense since it’s the same master bathroom) Originally I wanted bubbles floating around, but none of the effects available looked right. Steam was the better option, and ties the two pics together. - I’m seriously obsessed with 2020’s #pantoneclassicblue. 🔊SOUND ON!🎆 — #newyearseve is almost here! It’s going to be #2020! Hopefully all the bad stuff will be hindsight.🤓 - It’s another animated #pixaloop pic with a young Freyja and Johannes Faustuz (most likely nine months before Cedrick was born, lol). And it’s featuring #pantonecoloroftheyear2020 #classicblue.💙 I included the #lineart for anyone who wants to color them in - just tag #colorthisinyourstyle_fv8 @frauv8 so I can easily find your work. —— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #femalecharacter #couple #fireworks #newyears #newyearsday #newyearsday2020 #mangastyle #animestyle #pixaloop #pantone2020 #blue #frauv8_ocs

A quick pic of Johannes Faustuz and Freyja at age 10-11. It’s quite a bit early for Valentine’s Day, but it’s never off-season to show off some love. — Freyja and Faustuz have known each other for about thirty years, but like any couple, they have lots of rough times - whether it’s being separated because of work (he’s an oncologist, she’s involved with media), language barriers (Faustuz barely spoke English while Freyja only knew Swedish and English when they first met; Faustuz knew some Danish from his great-grandmother, which is similar to Swedish, but it was still difficult to understand each other for a long time without a German/English translation book; as adults they speak English but will switch to German to keep some conversations private), social class (she’s rich, he’s low-middle class), and their families not liking each other (the Ströms are very proud of their royal Viking heritage and making weapons; the Kaspers are shunned for their involvement with things like the Black Plague, witch-hunting, bodysnatching, and WW2). But with constant attention and compromises, Freyja and Faustuz have been happily married for over twenty years (they won’t reveal when exactly they got married; all that’s known is that they were young when they were married). —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #pixaloop #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #lineart #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #boy #femalecharacter #girl #children #couple #inlove #frauv8_ocs

Caught reading his wife’s magazine - with a smile! - Hr. Dr. Kasper religiously reads Freyja’s magazines to show his support for his wife, despite his coworkers making fun of him for reading fashion magazines (they’re clueless that Freyja is his wife); Cedrick, on the other hand, gets embarrassed when his mother is on the cover and random people talk about her latest episode on TV. But both guys will equally get pissed whenever someone talks badly about her or doing inappropriate things to her. — This was a bit tricky to make; it works best using the same images with parts copied, erased, and redrawn. It’d be a lot of work to make a fully inked and colored version with background, but not impossible... —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #digitalsketch #autodesksketchbook #animestyle #animation #originalcharacter #characterart #malecharacter #man #frauv8_ocs

Back in the day when I was a wee student, I made pretend magazine covers. You’d think I’d be making tons of them now since I make promo graphics for a living, but nope. Well, I just randomly felt like making one for Freyja, and I did a lot of looking at fashion magazines. TBH, a lot of fashion magazines have too much text in front that it distracts from the photo. BUT it is a thick stack of paper ads with articles so I understand why there’s a lot of headlines on the cover, but then there’s a table of contents... *sigh* - Growing up in the 90s to early 2000s, there were lots of gorgeous supermodels and actresses that were all over the magazines and TV. Freyja is kinda a combination of Heidi Klum and Nicole Kidman, but a bit more Klum since Freyja is a model/TV host like her (“FLASH FASHION” is kinda an ode to “PROJECT RUNWAY”). - The magazine name should look familiar if you’ve looked carefully at some of my previous pics (check the last 2 slides and zoom in to find it). “DER MODISCHE” (“The Fashionable One”) is the name of Freyja’s magazine; “MODERN” was added in to emphasize the English on the cover, though I looked it up and in Swedish “modern” could mean “fashionable” (“mode” is “fashion” in both German and Swedish). - The art style is also softer, more realistic compared to my usual work. I also made sure Freyja has her freckles this time (she’s strawberry-blonde, so she should have them). And she’s only wearing lingerie, so Cedrick’s going to be quite embarrassed seeing his mother in every hospital waiting room and father’s office for the next month. —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #sketchbookautodesk #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #characterdesign #characterstudy #femalecharacter #fashion #magazinecover #frauv8_ocs

23 December is Hr. Dr. Kasper’s birthday; it’s also #nationalpfeffernusseday, which there’s a plate of on the table. Johannes Faustuz often locks himself inside a room for long periods of time to avoid human contact until festivities are diminished since he hates the holidays so much (I don’t blame him - my birthday is Christmas Eve and you can’t compete against Jesus and commercialism). When he’s away from everyone else, that’s when Krampus likes to drop by for a visit and eats a snack. Krampus and Faustuz go way back since he was old enough to understand how unlucky the timing of his birth was, and they would have long chats about all kinds of topics every year, sparing him from being punished for being an unhappy child. - Last slide has last year’s drawing, also celebrating Papa Kasper’s birthday (he doesn’t officially turn 40 until 2021; he was born in 1981). Also included line art - tag #frauv8colorthisin @frauv8 if you want to color it in. ——— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacters #malecharacter #man #krampus #red #green #holidayseason

Instant translation 1️⃣🇩🇪↔️🇺🇸2️⃣ I also included the line art for coloring - just tag #frauv8colorthisin @frauv8 - 📝STORY BEHIND THE PIC:📝 1992 was a tough year for the Kaspers: Uncle Heinrich died, Hansel was at university, Hannah ran away from home for a month. This left Aunt Yoko alone with Johannes Faustuz. Yoko really wanted patriarch Olaf to take care of Faustuz when he was orphaned as a toddler; Heinrich didn’t want their nephew to be raised by “a xenophobic man who still believes in the old ways”. Reluctantly, Yoko continues raising Faustuz just as her husband wanted. For Johannes Faustuz, bullying from his classmates gets worse, leading him to constant fights and suspensions. Because he can’t go back to school, Faustuz is stuck with Yoko at the public library where she works. There he easily reads up on all kinds of knowledge and literature - and meets Freyja (she was a Swedish foreign exchange student in his class, but never approached him because everyone else told her that “Hothead Hans” is trouble). - Skip ahead to December 23rd. Since it’s during the holiday season, only Yoko, Hansel, and Hannah were there for his 11th birthday. Not able to afford much, they bought a new pair of glasses to replace his broken ones; Hannah also baked Neapolitan cupcakes since they’re not red and green. But it wasn’t any of his family’s gifts that caused tears of joy - it was a folded piece of white paper mailed to him. Freyja’s handwriting in the front wishes him a happy birthday, originally in Swedish but then crossed out and rewritten so he can understand; inside it reads “I’m sorry that I can only send you a card, but I didn’t want you to have nothing from anyone from school. To make it up, I’ll make sure you get a really big Valentine’s Day present. I’ll see you either in class or at the library after New Year’s Day.” (Keep “a really big Valentine’s Day present” in mind for a future pic of Freyja and Faustuz) —— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #boy #cupcake #birthday #mangastyle #animestyle #pixaloop #frauv8_ocs

Finished this pic while flying over to Japan in a 12 hour flight (not fun being packed like sardines in seats barely big enough to fit someone as small as me). - Klimt always wake up Papa Kasper just to be fed. Sarcastic as always. - After having a perfect cup of hot coffee and with a last name associated with the presence of ghost, Hr. Dr. Kasper is quite a frightful sight at work. - Something simple this time - I’ve been getting packed up for my trip to Japan for the past few days. Quick “Wunderkind’s Notes” on the turkey. Cedrick just thinks turkey is just an overrated big bird (which it is; I actually like roasted chicken or duck better). - Yes, Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of the USA (turkeys are actually quite aggressive birds, just not very pretty to look at). And yes, turkey meat (if not cooked right) is dry and needs a heavy dose of gravy to make it more enjoyable. And cranberry sauce... don’t eat the canned stuff if you can avoid it. - The second slide is a written script of the spin-off to last year’s Tyrone’s turkey troubles. Kinda has a Goofy instructional video vibe to it, a little meta since the Kaspers are talking to the audience, but overall it’s so silly and not really worth making into a comic. (Seriously, who wants to hear Cedrick speak in sexy anatomical terms on how to carve a turkey?) Not all my comics have prepared scripts, and lots of times the final isn’t like the original. But I do get random inspiration from mythology, fairy tales, and pop culture as well as character quirks - therefore you never know what and when I’ll cough up a comic. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #notes #turkey #script

Cedrick and his father Johannes Faustuz with hot drinks. What kind of drinks? Both Kasper guys are lactose intolerant, so most likely straight black coffee or soy versions of popular holiday drinks (the soy version of the peppermint mocha coffee latte is delicious). Where the Kaspers come from, Winter is cold, rainy, and often snowy. (It’s currently cold and raining were I live; it’s really feeling like Winter yet it’s still technically Autumn) - I used Pixaloop for the snow and breath/steam effects. —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #pixaloop #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #man #teenageboy #fatherandson #holidayseason #winter #snow #frauv8_ocs

🎵Have yourselves a merry Scandinavian Christmas🎄🎶 I don’t think this can get anymore Hygge and Christmasy, lol. Seeing Freyja and Johannes Faustuz all cuddled up together with Frl. Flicka makes me want a cup of hot cocoa right now. - Since the Kaspers are Scandinavian (she’s Swedish and he’s German of Danish ancestry), everything in their home combines both ideas of Hygge and Lagom. “Hygge” is the Danish term for warmth and happiness in the simple things in life; the Swedish “Lagom” concept is all about living with the right amount of stuff without being too excessive. - I have the line art in the 3rd slide for anyone who wants to color it in.
