1961: Heinrich “Ricky” and his little brother Richard “Dickie”. (Slide 4: The Kasper Brothers c. 1979) - 1961 was the year when their mother Ida left the family for a younger American soldier; since then, Olaf grew more cruel and strict with the boys, especially with Richard - the son he believed to be the reason why his wife ran away. Heinrich, as the older and favorite child, tries his best to keep his rambunctious brother out of trouble while lessening the pain of loosing their mother and father’s constant criticism. The brothers were close despite their 5 year age gap and opposing personalities, often seen together playing football/soccer and drinking beer as they grew older into adulthood. Heinrich has always been stoic, quiet, and serious while Richard was the more outgoing, hot-tempered, but very intelligent brother. Their relationship was often strained when Heinrich gave up his duty of the family heir for love when he married a foreign woman, forcing the carefree Richard to take up the rigid work his brother left behind; but with the birth of his nephew Hansel and niece Hannah, Richard’s anger cooled enough to continue being the supportive younger brother. Heinrich (like most of the other family) was initially not fond of Richard’s decision to marry Sigrid, even more so when it was revealed that she was only a teenager and had a life curse; but after meeting the girl, he was quite impressed with her sharp wit and her strong will to live despite having a shortened lifespan (he enjoyed playing chess with her, discussing current events, and admired her gardening skills). From the “Scrap Pile”: The Kasper Siblings: Hansel, Hannah, and Johannes Faustuz. - Hansel and Hannah never were close with Faustuz due to their large age gap (8 years and 6 years respectively), and thought of him as the reason of their beloved “Auntie Sigrid’s” death when he was born; this gets compounded when Richard dies almost a year later from being overwhelmed with illness, raising a son on his own, and work abroad in Africa as an Epidemiologist. Even Faustuz’s physical appearance alienated him from his older cousins since he’s not half Japanese like they are, making people question whether if he’s a result of an affair when he’s the orphaned son of their father’s younger brother (making his relationship with his aunt Yoko complicated). All these factors put a strain on their relationship as siblings. But after the death of Heinrich in 1992, Hansel and Hannah slowly grew to accept their younger cousin and enjoy his presence since he reminds them of their father - especially when he becomes an adult and takes after Heinrich’s no-nonsense mindset (as well as Sigrid’s kindness and Richard’s devotion). Because he’s tall and blond like Heinrich, occasionally Hansel and Hannah get the feels and have the urge to hug Faustuz out of nostalgia for their father. Crazy what a difference a year can be... - After a long shift at work at the hospital, Tyrone and Johannes Faustuz would often hit the bar for a beer or two to relax. Since COVID-19 hit, the two can no longer hangout with Tyrone still working at the hospital and Faustuz indefinitely furloughed (now working at home as a substitute professor). But timed right, Tyrone and Faustuz find a moment to share a toast and chat online. - •Side Note: TBH, I kinda envy my OCs because I don’t have close friends; since leaving school and other factors (I’d rather not mention out loud), I’ve lost contact with past friends and pen pals over the years, only having immediate family, my husband, and coworkers to keep me company (in other words, I’ve been living the quarantine life even before it was a thing, lol). Stern the Amabie and Klimt the Norwegian Forest Cat on another desk set up in “The Doghouse “. - Klimt loves drinking out of his master’s favorite coffee mug, especially when there’s water or coffee in it (not so much if there’s beer in it; not saying if Hr. Dr. Kasper drinks on the job 🥴). Sometimes he’ll even drink out of Stern’s fishbowl when he’s thirsty. Either way, Hr. As the older brother, Heinrich always kept a watchful eye on Richard while keeping up with duties as the family heir; on the other hand, Richard was oblivious of his brother’s surveillance and was always out to cause trouble (mainly sneaking into forbidden territory and chasing after pretty girls). It’s Papa Kasper’s turn to work at home as a Biology 101 professor in place of Vinnie DeValeur (Prof. DeValeur has some family matters in France at this time). And like Freyja, Faustuz has his moments with the cat, their son, and technology (in this case, rolling blackouts due to the extreme weather here in California). If I have to make another one of these shorts, it’d be Papa Ström constantly asking for help since he’s not very tech savvy. - •BONUS OC FACTS: Now we know what Cedrick’s middle name is, lol. “Magnus” was the original name Richard wanted for Faustuz, but Sigrid hated it and wanted a more formal and traditional name. When Sigrid died after giving birth, Richard kept her wish by naming their son “Johannes Faustuz”; knowing this story, Faustuz made it Cedrick’s middle name. Cedrick got his name because it means “loving ruler” from the Celtic word “Cariad” meaning “Love”, and root “-rik/ric/rich” meaning “King” (just like Erik, Richard, and Heinrich - all important family members to the Kaspers and Ströms). Maybe the Tiffany blue box? 😅 - Soft brushes again... 😑 I prefer using hard brushes when drawing and coloring because it feels more finished and pops out more compared to soft brushes. It’s actually easier to color and shade with soft brushes since they blend into each other, but there’s something about using hard brushes and halftone when I’m coloring and shading... Oh well - it’s more practice with the anti-characteristics of my artwork. Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick enjoying the cool breeze of their mini electric fan. Both father and son can’t stand the sun and heat, but Mama Kasper absolutely loves it (Freyja is most likely out in the backyard swimming). Faustuz is wearing a black mesh tank saying “Made in the 80s” because he literally was (making him a Millennial, not Gen X-er or Boomer as Tricia calls him); Cedrick is wearing a blue cotton crop-top which are quickly gaining popularity amongst teen boys it seems (the 90s are officially back with a vengeance). Both father and son have their hair up: Faustuz with a man bun and Cedrick with a mini bun/topknot. - It’s been unbearably HOT here in California (currently over 100F/38C🥵). Also on “Power Alert”, so a blackout can happen anytime (it’s happened once when I wasn’t home - all the clocks were messed up, lol). So stay safe: set those thermostats to 78, use fans, stay in the shade or indoors, drink LOTS of water, relax, and keep them masks on if you are outside despite being super hot (i.e. there was a heatwave in Israel early during the pandemic and cases spiked drastically because people stopped wearing masks due to heat; really shows how effective masks are in preventing infections). Also looks like Papa Kasper’s glasses are fogging up, but at least the Herr Doktor and his son are wearing their masks correctly over their mouths and noses. 🚨RANT ALERT 🚨 Don’t ask how many people at work I see that don’t cover their noses. NOSES ARE VIRAL SUPER-SPREADERS! COVER THEM UP! 😷 Seriously - we had all the scientific proof that masks, hand washing, social distancing, and lockdowns worked a century ago with the 1918 (NOT F-CKING 1917!) Pandemic, so we should of bagged COVID-19 in months (the 1918 Pandemic took 2 years to recover from, but keep in mind they didn’t have any of the medical tech we have so millions got sick and died; had we done all the things to reduce a pandemic early on, we probably wouldn’t have as many people sick and dead). But at the rate things are going with idiots running around in the world, it’s going to be YEARS before it’ll be “normal” again. Soft pencil and marker brushes with pastel colors this time; not my forte, but it’s good practice. Also looks like Papa Kasper’s glasses are fogging up, but at least the Herr Doktor and his son are wearing their masks correctly over their mouths and noses. 🚨RANT ALERT 🚨 Don’t ask how many people at work I see that don’t cover their noses. NOSES ARE VIRAL SUPER-SPREADERS! COVER THEM UP! 😷 Seriously - we had all the scientific proof that masks, hand washing, social distancing, and lockdowns worked a century ago with the 1918 (NOT F-CKING 1917!) Pandemic, so we should of bagged COVID-19 in months (the 1918 Pandemic took 2 years to recover from, but keep in mind they didn’t have any of the medical tech we have so millions got sick and died; had we done all the things to reduce a pandemic early on, we probably wouldn’t have as many people sick and dead). But at the rate things are going with idiots running around in the world, it’s going to be YEARS before it’ll be “normal” again.
