Hedy took an instant liking to him despite what he had done and the fact Richard isn’t much of a cat-person - especially being a Grim Reaper and cats being known for the association with life and death. •Bonus Sigrid’s Diary Entry: Richard after getting rid of Tatzelwurms while Sigrid is in charge of the flower shop. - Richard is able to kill Tatzelwurms with his bare hands, but always ends up with cuts, bruises, and bites all over while leaving blood all over the place. Luckily Aina has a large supply of healing potions and ointments for Sigrid to use just in case (Sigrid had also been attacked by bullies since she was little, so Aina made sure she always had some). - At this point of time Richard and Sigrid aren’t officially a couple yet, but getting along well enough that Sigrid can tolerate his presence and hugs him good-bye (she’s still wary of the fact he’s a grim reaper, but does secretly like him). Richard, on the other hand, is beyond in love with her to the point lovesickness is slowly creeping in - but also cautious about showing his affection for her due to social norms (he’s estimated to be in his mid-20s thru mid-30s while Sigrid’s just a teenager). The end of Sigrid’s diary. Freyja can’t believe it’s the end, but it is. - Sigrid died two days after giving birth to Johannes Faustuz on Christmas Day; for “normal people”, she died from blood loss and infection, but it was Death himself who arrived and took her soul away - not before Richard was ordered to deal the final blow straight through her heart. Since Sigrid’s passing, Richard’s health deteriorated over the next few years from feeling guilty and responsible of his beloved wife’s death; briefly he had moments of joy with his son, only to quickly spiral into deep depression being reminded of Sigrid. Richard and Sigrid finally agreed on a first name: Johannes. - “Johannes” derived from “Iohannes” meaning “God is gracious” - basically saying the baby is a gift. Richard faces someone from the past: his ex-fiancée Sheila, a sorceress from a prominent family within the mythical and occult world. Since their breakup, Sheila hoped to reconcile with Richard, only to be shocked to see that he’s married with a baby on the way. - Richard and Sheila had a seemingly stable relationship after his father Olaf arranged a blind date between them, but it quickly soured after their engagement when Richard learned of her lavish spending habits and harsh treatment towards his sister-in-law Yoko, Hansel, and Hannah. Extended family cut funds into the main family account, leaving Richard having to pay Sheila’s debts with his own funds from his private practice as a doctor and quickly making him bankrupt. The final strike was Sheila demeaning Yoko and the children, trying to order them around as if they were servants; Richard threw out her belongings and locked her out of the family house in the rain, declaring that the engagement is over and that he never wants to see her again. As for the Kaspers, only little Hannah wasn’t happy now that she won’t be the baby of the family anymore (she did like that her cousin was going to be a boy so she didn’t have to share her dolls). Richard was an emotional wreck sobbing when he got back from his trip across America hunting monsters, collecting herbs for medicinal uses, and randomly dropping by universities to meet up with former professors and classmates; had he known that Sigrid was expecting, he would of abandoned his work and spent all those months with her. But Sigrid didn’t want to interrupt his work and thought it’d be a happy surprise for Richard when he returned - which didn’t quite turn out the way she hoped. - Sigrid doesn’t know that Richard is not only overjoyed but also extremely saddened, knowing that she’ll die from complications of childbirth just as Death had finally arranged. He also feels responsible of her fast-approaching death since he got her pregnant, fulfilling the terms of her life curse (this guilt leads to his death within two years). Sigrid and her mother Aina finding out that she’s expecting. - Aina and Sigrid had always been extremely close, especially since Aina raised her daughter alone after escaping an abusive husband and changing their last name for protection (their real last name is “Jorgensen”; Aina chose “Faustus” as a reminder of her marriage to a warlock who took most of their daughter’s lifespan to extend his). With Sigrid’s life so short, Aina tried her best to give her daughter the best quality of life and encouraged her to live without regrets. Also like his mother Sigrid, he and Freyja were married at very young age (he rescued her from a Bluebeard when they were 16-17, resulting in an unexpected marriage conducted by a priest’s ghost; they still haven’t had an official wedding since then, so that’s something to look forward to in the near future). - Richard’s 1981 red Volkswagen Beetle has been fought over by all three Kasper Siblings since his death, especially between Hansel and Hannah (each of them learned how to drive with the car). Sigrid meeting Richard’s family for the first time. - Except for Hansel and Hannah, the Kaspers were absolutely shook finding out that Sigrid was only a teenager because she acted years beyond her age (only Richard and Aina seen her act like her age, especially when she gets upset and embarrassed). But after long chats and learning her story about being cursed, they softened up and become more accepting of their newest family member; she really impressed everyone when she took up the challenge to beat Heinrich in a game of chess (she had him checkmated within half an hour). Even Papa Olaf felt at ease being around her and enjoys her company, telling his son Richard that he actually made a good decision regarding someone of the opposite sex this time (he’s still bitter about Richard breaking off his previous arranged engagement, and not very proud of Richard’s promiscuous past as a playboy). As for Hansel and Hannah, the two immediately were curious about their new auntie, especially with Sigrid being so much nicer than Richard’s ex-fiancée Shelia; Hansel instantly liked Sigrid for her beauty, while Hannah took a bit longer to accept that Sigrid will be her uncle’s true love (Hannah had always insisted that she was going to marry Richard if he doesn’t have a girlfriend). A dark entry in Sigrid’s diary, showing the other side of Richard as a Grim Reaper. - It’s not known whether if Death ordered Richard to collect Mr. Vannderhassen’s soul, or if he acted out of spite and annoyance towards a man threatening himself and his family (Kaspers are known to be vengeful, often doing so as a form of bad karma); either way, Sigrid is more frightened of her death quickly approaching after seeing his true form, temporarily distancing herself from Richard out of fear. As of what Mr. Vannderhassen died from, it was cardiac arrest in the eyes of humans outside of the occult and mythical. - Richard’s Grim Reaper costume is based off the Plague Doctor; unlike his father Olaf, older brother Heinrich, and his son Johannes Faustuz, Richard wore mostly white instead of black - giving him the nickname “The White Ghost”. Now Cedrick wants in, only to be grossed out by his grandparents’ questionable romance (why Hr. Dr. Kasper doesn’t like talking about his parents - the fact Richard was much older than Sigrid, both died when he was young, and other reasons). Sigrid and Richard tried to keep their relationship hidden away by many means so she can continue learning. They went out on dates late at night, hid in a Kaspers’ family owned hotel, and Richard often stayed overnight at the flower shop after dinner to avoid being seen at school; but classmates had seen her with Richard at the arcade, jumping at the opportunity to get her in trouble by reporting to their teacher Mr. Vannderhassen (who’s also her neighbor). Now Papa Ström is up with a few words about Sigrid. (Erik has a longer hairstyle with the pandemic still ongoing) - Erik normally was annoyed with Richard flirting with his wife Sonja while treating her coughs (mostly with medicine he gets from Aina) and chasing out unwanted creatures in the mansion, but noticed the flattery had toned down significantly over the years. After one appointment treating Sonja, Richard accidentally left his coat behind; Erik was able to find a folded letter addressed to Copenhagen in a pocket, using it to personally deliver the coat back to Richard. Erik was puzzled to see that the address led him to a house converted into a flower shop on the lower floor. He sees a pregnant girl restocking buckets with fresh-cut roses and asks if Richard was around; she reassured him that Richard would be back soon if he waited, offering tea to help pass time. As promised, Richard returned with several ice cream cones in his hands, surprised to see that Erik came all the way from Stockholm just to return his coat; as he gives the ice cream cones to the girl (who immediately starts eating one, devouring all four in minutes), Richard introduces her as his wife Sigrid. Johannes Faustuz sees that his parents were quite dorky together, something he could relate with (he and Freyja can get a bit dorky too, often embarrassing their son Cedrick whenever he’s around). He’s also seeing his father through the eyes of his mother with the diary, as well as the thoughts of the young girl he never interacted with (she died soon after childbirth; Richard died when he was two years old). - Sigrid and Richard were inseparable after their first night together, their bond constantly reenforced with their shared interests in games, movies, and pop music (aside from being familiar with the world of the occult and mythical creatures, and both were very knowledgeable about natural remedies). Dr. Kasper’s turn to read Sigrid’s diary. - Johannes Faustuz mostly heard about his father Richard through his relatives and father-in-law Erik Ström, explaining how he was feared for his red-hot temper and was very efficient with his job as a reaper and monster hunter, but also how much he was a bit of a quack and playboy with the ladies (prior to meeting Sigrid).
