I ended up making both colored and black & white versions. Animated too.🙃 — Richard giving Sigrid his mother’s black crystal skull necklace. - His mother Ida never wore it and left it behind in Richard’s room when she left the family for a younger lover, rejecting her role as matriarch of the Kasper estate; the necklace makes Sigrid the new lady in charge. — The Kasper Family’s emblem is a black skull. Being connected with Death, recruited over the centuries to kill rogue monsters (and occasionally humans), and hired by questionable people to provide knowledge of the occult, the black skull is an appropriate symbol of the family’s dark history and a physical reminder of what happens to anything/anyone that crosses their path. It’s also the nickname for the current patriarch of the Kasper estate (Olaf Kasper, who’s still alive). - A necklace with a hand-carved black crystal skull is the Kasper heir’s ultimate symbol of love, swearing his unconditional devotion until Death separates him from his partner. —— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #pixaloop #animation #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #femalecharacter #malecharacter #couple #mangastyle #animestyle #frauv8_ocs

The Kasper Family circa 1984: Heinrich, Yoko, Hansel, Hannah, and Johannes Faustuz. A Kasper tradition is to read fairy tales to the children every night after dinner. Being a mixed family, Hansel, Hannah, and Faustuz were exposed to stories mainly from Germany, Denmark, and Japan. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #animestyle #family #father #mother #children #reading

Floral Shirt & Strawberry Dress. (idk what their son would wear if it’s the whole family, lol) Also a combination of hard and soft brushes (still prefer hard brushes because it’s the closest thing to drawing with an actual pen in sketchbooks). The color scheme also screams California (it’s literally these colors year-round, especially SoCal). - This was originally was supposed to be another Bio 101 highlight pic with Freyja making a surprise appearance as Hr. Dr. Kasper is teaching his online class cell division/reproduction (awkward), but it got more detailed over time and turned out like this. ——— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #autodesksketchbook #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #femalecharacter #malecharacter #couple #green #yellow #pink #fashion #floralshirt #strawberrydress #blonde #blond #manbun #frauv8_ocs

Meanwhile in modern times with the Williamses... Queenie doesn’t quite understand how the mute button works, or why Tricia has to put herself on mute when Hr. Dr. Kasper is a close family friend (she’ll figure out how to use it much to everyone’s dismay or enjoyment; who can resist a cute little kid trying to say hi to her favorite doctor from her dad’s workplace?). She was supposed to start Kindergarten this year, but Asia was adamant that she stays home until she feels it’s safe for her to go out (Tyrone feels Queenie is able to handle herself since she used to run around the hospital on her own, but he’s not arguing with his wife; he’s still working at the hospital treating sick children). So until whenever she can actually start school, Queenie enjoys being with her older cousin Tricia while she’s on Zoom for Biology 101. —— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #femalecharacters #girls #teengirl #animestyle #athome #frauv8_ocs

“Come on~ I know you wanna play, Ricky~” - Richard and his older brother Heinrich. Despite their five year difference and clashing personalities, Ricky and Dickie are very attached to each other. Since their mother Ida left their father Olaf for a younger lover when Heinrich was 9 and Richard was barely 4, the two brothers do everything they can to keep their broken family together. As the older brother, Heinrich always kept a watchful eye on Richard while keeping up with duties as the family heir; on the other hand, Richard was oblivious of his brother’s surveillance and was always out to cause trouble (mainly sneaking into forbidden territory and chasing after pretty girls). But everything changed when Heinrich fell in love while on a business trip to Hiroshima, Japan; against family expectations, Heinrich married a foreign woman named Yoko Kobayashi. Because none of his two children inherited “Odin’s Eye”, Heinrich was stripped of his title as heir, forcing the family legacy and duties onto Richard, the son Olaf always saw as “an obnoxious extra mouth to feed” and the reason why Ida left the family. Despite adoring his brother’s family, Richard had lashed out on Heinrich numerous times for the responsibilities thrusted onto him. Olaf had even arranged a potential bride for Richard, but she had shown her cruel nature towards Yoko and the children which immediately broke off the engagement (he left Sheila out in the rain with her shopping bags after seeing her treating Yoko like a servant). About a year later while on a mission in Copenhagen, Richard encounters a teen girl named Sigrid, shocking the whole family when he marries her, bears the next family heir, and dies soon afterwards from heartbreak and illness (Sigrid died after giving birth, making him inconsolable and unable to handle the stress of raising his son alone). In a cruel turn of fate, Heinrich was forced to resume his family duties and raise his nephew Johannes Faustuz as future heir of the Kasper legacy. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #originalcharacters #malecharacters #brothers #men #frauv8_ocs

Another point of view of “The Doghouse”. I couldn’t choose which version, so I just put all three in one post with the line art (4 slides total). - With Freyja using his personal study for her live videos and blogs, Hr. Dr. Kasper teaches Biology 101 using an old iPad Pro with Zoom in the indoor patio room where all the critters and houseplants reside (both agreed that their bedroom is a place that stays private). It’s almost a 💯% guarantee that at least one critter will make an appearance during class sessions, especially the family cat Klimt. See if you can find: •Faustuz’s favorite mug •Tricia Williams •Fritz the Wolpertinger •A Dachshund •A Doberman •Richard and Sigrid •A cell diagram •A copy of Freyja’s magazine — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #lineart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #man #cat #houseplants #desk #room #mangastyle #animestyle #blackandwhite #color frauv8_ocs

It’s Papa Kasper’s turn to work at home as a Biology 101 professor in place of Vinnie DeValeur (Prof. DeValeur has some family matters in France at this time). And like Freyja, Faustuz has his moments with the cat, their son, and technology (in this case, rolling blackouts due to the extreme weather here in California). If I have to make another one of these shorts, it’d be Papa Ström constantly asking for help since he’s not very tech savvy. - •BONUS OC FACTS: Now we know what Cedrick’s middle name is, lol. “Magnus” was the original name Richard wanted for Faustuz, but Sigrid hated it and wanted a more formal and traditional name. When Sigrid died after giving birth, Richard kept her wish by naming their son “Johannes Faustuz”; knowing this story, Faustuz made it Cedrick’s middle name. Cedrick got his name because it means “loving ruler” from the Celtic word “Cariad” meaning “Love”, and root “-rik/ric/rich” meaning “King” (just like Erik, Richard, and Heinrich - all important family members to the Kaspers and Ströms). Cedrick’s mother Freyja is also a big fan of literature, so it’s also a nod to “Ivanhoe”, “Little Lord Flauntleroy”, and of course, “Harry Potter”. ——— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacters #femalecharacter #malecharacter #man #boy #cat #chibi #chibistyle #kawaii #cute #stayhome #workfromhome #workathome #frauv8_ocs

“The Dog House” is practically an indoor patio linked to the backyard, making it easy for the pets to run around freely and for the humans enjoy the outdoors while being inside. It gets its name because it’s where Freud the Dachshund stays to keep out of trouble (he loves digging up Freyja’s garden and chasing Klimt the Weegie and other creatures that take refuge in the Kasper residence). It’s a place where the pets eat, sleep, and play, extra plants grow, and where Hr. Dr. Kasper sleeps whenever he’s in trouble with his wife or wants to stay away from his son and father-in-law (also where he stayed for two weeks after being furloughed from work... and it looking like he might be working again, but as an online professor this time around). Johannes Faustuz finds peace amongst the plants and animals as he reads books, magazines, and whatever periodicals are lying around; it’s also the only connection he has with his mother Sigrid since she loved plants while working in her mother’s flower shop in Copenhagen (she died soon after he was born). If it gets too quiet, Faustuz will play tape cassettes of his mother reading children’s books like “Peter Rabbit” in Danish (which he still struggles speaking with his grandmother Aina; Kaspers are Danish in ancestry, but living in Jutland for centuries makes them German, so when they actually try speaking Danish, it’s with a heavy accent and bad grammar). He also has recorded tapes of his father Richard, but Faustuz doesn’t seem to be interested listening to a man who was known as a playboy in his younger years. ——— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #lineart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #man #cat #plants #window #room #mangastyle #animestyle #halftone #frauv8_ocs

Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick enjoying the cool breeze of their mini electric fan. Both father and son can’t stand the sun and heat, but Mama Kasper absolutely loves it (Freyja is most likely out in the backyard swimming). Faustuz is wearing a black mesh tank saying “Made in the 80s” because he literally was (making him a Millennial, not Gen X-er or Boomer as Tricia calls him); Cedrick is wearing a blue cotton crop-top which are quickly gaining popularity amongst teen boys it seems (the 90s are officially back with a vengeance). Both father and son have their hair up: Faustuz with a man bun and Cedrick with a mini bun/topknot. - It’s been unbearably HOT here in California (currently over 100F/38C🥵). Also on “Power Alert”, so a blackout can happen anytime (it’s happened once when I wasn’t home - all the clocks were messed up, lol). So stay safe: set those thermostats to 78, use fans, stay in the shade or indoors, drink LOTS of water, relax, and keep them masks on if you are outside despite being super hot (i.e. there was a heatwave in Israel early during the pandemic and cases spiked drastically because people stopped wearing masks due to heat; really shows how effective masks are in preventing infections). If you really can’t breathe while wearing one in the heat, isolate yourself before removing it to catch your breath, then put it back on and seek shelter indoors. —— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #animation #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #boy #man #blond #animestyle #yellow #blue #black #fan #manbun #frauv8_ocs

Soft pencil and marker brushes with pastel colors this time; not my forte, but it’s good practice. Also looks like Papa Kasper’s glasses are fogging up, but at least the Herr Doktor and his son are wearing their masks correctly over their mouths and noses. 🚨RANT ALERT 🚨 Don’t ask how many people at work I see that don’t cover their noses. NOSES ARE VIRAL SUPER-SPREADERS! COVER THEM UP! 😷 Seriously - we had all the scientific proof that masks, hand washing, social distancing, and lockdowns worked a century ago with the 1918 (NOT F-CKING 1917!) Pandemic, so we should of bagged COVID-19 in months (the 1918 Pandemic took 2 years to recover from, but keep in mind they didn’t have any of the medical tech we have so millions got sick and died; had we done all the things to reduce a pandemic early on, we probably wouldn’t have as many people sick and dead). But at the rate things are going with idiots running around in the world, it’s going to be YEARS before it’ll be “normal” again. (phew - that’s my ranting for a while 😤) It’s just frustrating seeing everything I’ve learned from Biology classes during the H1N1 and Ebola epidemics happening all over again but in a much bigger and worse scale - and there’s not much I can do about it but do my part wearing my masks, washing my hands, staying home whenever I don’t have work, and sharing the words of Dr. Fauci. ——— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #pink #blue #yellow #pastelcolors #pastelcolours #malecharacter #man #teenboy #fatherandson #fashion #glasses #facemask #bowlcut #manbun #frauv8_ocs

Which shade Freyja wore best?💄 And she’s using her husband’s aviators as a fashion accessory again, lol. Hopefully poor Johannes Faustuz isn’t bumping into too many things without them. - I was inspired by an ad for @jeffreestar’s lip colors of all things to make this, lol. I wish I can wear makeup more often, but with sensitive skin and having to wear masks for more than 8 hours each day I work, it’s not very practical (also, I still get acne like a teen and I’m double the age of a teenager; people still can’t believe how old I am because I look at least 10 years younger partly because of my acne). ———— #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #pixaloop #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #femalecharacter #woman #redhair #redhead #fashion #lipcolor #aviators #animestyle #animation #halftone #frauv8_ocs

Looks like Sigrid was caught eying Richard from her mother’s flower shop... - It seems like these two had been becoming more popular according to stats. Maybe because it’s the fact they’re from 1980 (aesthetics of the 1970s-90s are in), look cute together as a couple (though in today’s standards Richard most likely wouldn’t be allowed to date Sigrid since he’s 23 and she’s 16), or that their story is very romantic but also a sad one (they both die within a year from each other, leaving their son behind to be raised by his extended family). Maybe it’s all three? I think my eyes hurt from staring at this guy for too long...😭 Doesn’t help that I also stay up past Midnight for multiple nights.😫 - Besides looking all pretty in pink, Hr. Dr. Kasper has plenty of pour-over coffee and traditional sweets for himself on the side: Baumkuchen, Prinsesstårten, and Strudel. Both Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick have “Odin’s Eye” which requires a lot of energy to maintain, so often father and son will fight over snacks and caffeine when they’re available. Most of the time Papa Kasper gives up for the sake of his son’s needs over his (as any parent would do, plus Cedrick is quickly catching up with him on size as a teenager), making him at high risk of being an easily irritable hangry monster around other people (he’s not called “Hot-Headed Hans” for no reason). — These kind of pics take a LONG time to make - even longer if I put more painful effort of shading and lighting. Part of the time it’s gathering references, other times it’s picking and playing with color schemes (that’s why there’s a bonus cyan blue version here), but it’s mostly the drawing and coloring process that takes so long (especially the drawing when there’s tiny details). - One of them days this old millennial here have to play with REELS using video versions of my pics just for funzies (because why not 😛). 1980 when PAC-MAN made his debut outside of Japan. - Ever since she was a toddler, Sigrid has always been a fan of the arcade. She’d always beg her mother Aina for a coin and would play for hours nonstop with that one coin. Her classmates at high school think she’s a dork for liking video games, but little kids at the arcade love watching her play. Sigrid was pissed when she saw her high score on SPACE INVADERS was replaced by a new player - especially when she found out that player was Hr. Dr. Richard Kasper, the very man trying to woo her at her mother’s flower shop. Since becoming a couple, Richard lets Sigrid get first choice at the arcade and watches her play - he knows better than making her cry after loosing a hard-played game. - Nowadays, her son Johannes Faustuz has the same love for video games, which was also passed down to her grandson Cedrick.
