Klimt loves meowing as loud as he can until his master of choice wakes up and pours him a bowl of kibble. - Like all teenagers, Cedrick hates waking up early. He left his headphones on hoping he wouldn’t be able to hear his cat, but with a dead battery, it’s no use. Ugh... It’s so hard to finish something when my weekend was busy and I’m currently suffering from fever and nausea 🤢 (I’m really questioning my choice of eating leftover noodles for lunch earlier today; yesterday I also suffered from eating food that contained some dairy in it, so that’s two days in a row I damaged my digestive system). - Anyway, this time I did a #redraw of an old pic from early 2018. I planned on making it more detailed, but with life in the way, I kept it simple; it also has a different color scheme from the original. Oh Instagram with your silly square format...✂️ - If Cedrick is “The Boy With Odd Eyes”, his father Johannes Faustuz is “The Oncologist With Heterochromia”. Heterochromia is the scientific way of saying odd-colored eyes, and both father and son have it; in some cases, it’s a dominant trait. For the Kaspers, only those who inherit blue eye genes from both parents will get it - almost always one eye being green and the other blue (few times there has been brown and blue eye combinations, like Hansel’s daughter Leisa). Heterochromia for the Kaspers also means they inherit an ability to see the strengths and weaknesses of mythical creatures as well as see hidden beings that could potentially become harmful (such as Ghosts and Yōkai). The ability also allows for Faustuz and Cedrick to have perfect eyesight at the cost of mental and physical energy (this explains their addiction to caffeine, constant snacking, need for power naps, and often being grouchy at the hospital). - I was debating whether I wanted to draw this pic like the last one, but there’s just something about the pencil brush texture that kept me from doing that. Color/Light Study. This took me 3 DAYS to make this! And I probably just blinded a lot of people without using obnoxious colors, lol. - I usually don’t draw pics like this, but intimate scenes often use dramatic lighting for mood, so that’s why it’s what it is. The other idea in mind was sleeping in bed the “normal” way, but drawing someone just sleeping isn’t really interesting - unless he’s drooling and flipped over with a foot on the wall. It’s another #dtiyschallenge. @doodling.hard #hotncolddtiys - I’m kinda feeling a little bit sad because right after making my last post thanking 399 people who were following me, it dropped down to 398 (it was actually at 400 when I was making it).😂 It’s actually normal for me to loose Followers at the end/start of the month, more so when I don’t post as much content. This left Aunt Yoko alone with Johannes Faustuz. Yoko really wanted patriarch Olaf to take care of Faustuz when he was orphaned as a toddler; Heinrich didn’t want their nephew to be raised by “a xenophobic man who still believes in the old ways”. Reluctantly, Yoko continues raising Faustuz just as her husband wanted. For Johannes Faustuz, bullying from his classmates gets worse, leading him to constant fights and suspensions. Because he can’t go back to school, Faustuz is stuck with Yoko at the public library where she works. There he easily reads up on all kinds of knowledge and literature - and meets Freyja (she was a Swedish foreign exchange student in his class, but never approached him because everyone else told her that “Hothead Hans” is trouble). - Skip ahead to December 23rd. Since it’s during the holiday season, only Yoko, Hansel, and Hannah were there for his 11th birthday. Not able to afford much, they bought a new pair of glasses to replace his broken ones; Hannah also baked Neapolitan cupcakes since they’re not red and green. But it wasn’t any of his family’s gifts that caused tears of joy - it was a folded piece of white paper mailed to him. Freyja’s handwriting in the front wishes him a happy birthday, originally in Swedish but then crossed out and rewritten so he can understand; inside it reads “I’m sorry that I can only send you a card, but I didn’t want you to have nothing from anyone from school. Wunderkind’s Notes (aka Cedrick Kasper) on the Yule goat, or “Julbock” in Swedish. - There’s A LOT of lore to the Yule goat (as well as the Yule boar and Yule log, which are all tied together with the Christmas tree). The goat was one of many kinds of livestock offered to the gods during the Yule, and is a major part of Norse mythology. Men would also dress up as goats to give out gifts and offerings (this and Odin flying in the sky with his eight-legged horse reenforces the idea an old bearded White man with eight reindeer - aka Santa Claus). There is just so much to mention about this curious, cute little ornament. - As for the burning part, it’s not encouraged to burn the Yule goat since it’s now considered a beloved cuddly creature. But you can burn your own straw ornament as an ode to the days when goats were sacrificed for the blessing of a successful new year - just don’t burn the Gälve goat. You’ll definitely be jailed for vandalism and arson. - As for the Kaspers, Cedrick LOVES burning the countless tiny straw goats his mother buys from IKEA (she buys too many, and what teenager wouldn’t like to burn stuff). But he’s never gone so far as to burning the family’s heirloom Julbock since he knows it’s priceless since his Viking ancestors made it - plus it’s made mostly of gold and steel so it can’t quite burn up completely. Johannes Faustuz has a strong hatred for the holiday season, so he also enjoys watching the goats burn up in flames. More ugly sweaters! This time it’s Mama Kasper and her father. - Papa Ström wears a Santa suit sweater obviously because he’s got a beard and white hair. Freyja even joked her father is a “bad-ass Santa Claus” (her husband and son would disagree). Papa Ström isn’t known for kindness, but is often generous in showering his family with gifts - especially for his daughter and grandson. - Freyja wears a green sweater like her husband with a big yellow bow and tag that says “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL X-MAS”.
