Another simple color scheme pic with these two guys.🤦🏻‍♀️ I really need to find more challenging color schemes, lol. This one is basically hues of green, red, yellow with black line art and white accents for the eyes and lab coat. I kept the coloring flat since the line art is dark and quite bold. The line art style is a bit reminiscent of my inking with Sharpies back in 2006-07. I included both versions of the line art for coloring (just tag @frauv8 #colorthis_fv8). - The second version with Papa Kasper’s hair up was my final choice because it seems more balanced with the blank space (original version on last slide). No glasses for either one of them since the frames will interfere with the limited details on their faces, and the pic isn’t big and zoomed in. As usual, Cedrick has his mismatched scrubs and shoes (pink slipper on one foot, Adidas Superstar on the other) while his father Johannes Faustuz is in dark grey scrubs topped with a lab coat and wears Puma Suedes. Happy Christmas Day!🎄 And I’m ( 12 x 3 ) - 4. When the odd left eye glows, either Cedrick or his father Johannes Faustuz knows that there’s a powerful nonhuman creature around. One in disguise and in need of medical attention would be very afraid to see a Kasper ready to perform surgery on them because it might be their last chance to be alive - but only if the creature was known to cause any serious trouble amongst humans. — Aside from being doctors, our current Kaspers are known to be researchers and killers of rouge creatures. Most creatures fear them, regular people see them as eccentric, while fellow families involved in the same business of the mythical and occult view them as scum and low-class due to their ancestors’ involvement with dark moments of history (ie. Black Plague, witch-hunting, bodysnatching, WW2). - It’s not really my best work, and I couldn’t choose between no glasses or wearing glasses. More ugly sweaters! This time it’s Mama Kasper and her father. - Papa Ström wears a Santa suit sweater obviously because he’s got a beard and white hair. Freyja even joked her father is a “bad-ass Santa Claus” (her husband and son would disagree). Papa Ström isn’t known for kindness, but is often generous in showering his family with gifts - especially for his daughter and grandson. - Freyja wears a green sweater like her husband with a big yellow bow and tag that says “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL X-MAS”. It’s officially ugly sweater season, and only a month away from Christmas. Both Kasper boys are wearing their sweaters from Mama this year. - Cedrick is wearing a bright red sweater with Krampus on it. In recent years, Krampus had appeared in pop culture (had anyone else seen the movie?), and the Kaspers are no strangers to mythical creatures. Also the word “NAUGHTY” is something a teenager would wear. And Krampus just seems like a fun take on the Santa lore (I recently found out Krampus is only one of many Santa’s helpers; he’s got Knecht Ruprecht, Zwarte Pete, etc.). - As for Papa Kasper, he’s got a green sweater with Jesus Christ. Christmas is really a combination of an ancient Roman celebration for the sun god and Germanic festivities, but leave it to the Catholics to make it all about Jesus - which led to the overly commercialized holiday that it is today. Looks like Papa Kasper is going to be a Viking for Halloween this year, lol. - The correct answer to my pop quiz was “Norwegian Forest Cat”. The Kaspers’ cat is a Weegie (also spelled Wegie, which is the nickname for this breed of cat), and boy is he trouble always catching and often killing small creatures only to bring them to his masters as offerings of love. Klimt also likes climbing up trees, but often gets stuck high up - thus Cedrick or Johannes Faustuz has to rescue him by climbing up and risking limbs. - Weegies are the most popular cat breed of Scandinavia for obvious reasons: they’re from Norway, they are tied to Norse mythology as the drivers of the goddess Freyja’s chariot, and were companions of Vikings. Testing out some alcohol markers I got from Daiso. Nice vibrant colors, not very good blendablity. They come in packs of two for $1.50 USD, so very cheap - maybe too cheap since one of the markers leaked inside the wrapper before opening and I had to throw it away (also made my skin blue like a Smurf for a bit). So far, my favorite alcohol markers are Hobby Colour, Windsor & Newton, Master, Illustrator, and Ohuhu; Copic is great as always, but way too pricy. - As for the art, it’s a bit cutesy compared to my usual style. It’s a different take on Freyja and Faustuz, almost like a Shojo manga. A glimpse into Freyja’s garden with the Pink Fairy (named Rosemarie), the baby Wolpertinger (affectionately called Fritz), the Hyōsube in her miniature bathtub (now called Junko Akane), Freud the Dachshund, and a Mindanao Man-Eating Tree sapling obviously nicknamed Seymour. Cedrick is still technically a kid at age 15 so he’s not too old for juice boxes, lol. (I still drink out of juice and milk boxes myself, and I’m not a kid) The juice boxes are also because he’s not allowed to drink alcohol during social gatherings (legal drinking age where the Kaspers work is 21; back in their home country it’s 16). - And looking at his juice box makes me feel uneasy because it’s all citrus juice, which is very acidic despite being tasty. Every Kasper Necromancer Mage has a skull mask they wear when performing rituals and spells. Cedrick’s mask resembles a goat/ram skull; his father Faustuz’s skull mask is that of a bird while his grandfather Richard/Death’s mask is a horse’s skull. It looks like an older Cedrick at first glance, but it’s actually a younger version of his grandfather Erik Ström (that glare is what gives it away - see last slide). The Kasper Family at an earlier time when Cedrick was a lot shorter and Johannes Faustuz had short hair; Freyja hasn’t changed much since except how she styles her hair. This would probably be when Cedrick was about 10 years old. (Faustuz was born in 23 December 1981; Freyja was born 30 June 1982; I still haven’t decided whether Cedrick will be born in 2006 or 2017 since those are the two most recent times October Friday the 13th had occurred) - The colors I picked for this pic screams Fall, but the weather here in SoCal screams Summer - it’s been super hot the last several days.🥵🌡 Cedrick’s sweater has each of his parents’ family symbols: the Kaspers’ black skull and the Ströms’ spiral. Kappa is a papa to a baby Kappa - it’s a boy! - Aunt Yoko wants to keep the Yōkai more than ever now that’s there’s a baby one. But it’s still up to the Yōkai whether they want to stay or not. - In this case, these Yōkai became attached to where they’re born and humans depending on circumstances. Kappa and Garappa both hatched in Kiel and grew attached to Uncle Heinrich when he was alive. Kappa is also attached to Johannes Faustuz, but his mate Garappa wants to stay where they were born. And now with a baby that also hatched in Kiel, it’s more unlikely that they’ll leave. Hyōsube wasn’t born in Kiel - she was brought over from Hiroshima as a baby attached to an eggplant. Aunt Yoko decided to not get rid of the Yōkai after all, only after seeing how the Yōkai were staying together as a family despite everything she had done. It reminded her of when her husband Heinrich had died and all the hardships she endured trying to keep the family functional. But at the same time, it’s possible she decided to keep the Yōkai only to make things harder for her nephew since she doesn’t like him. “Wunderkind’s Notes” on the Yōkai Cousins that will be featured: the Kappa, the Garappa, and the Hyōsube. There’s also a cute comparison to the the Kasper Cousins with the Yōkai, and Aunt Yoko being blunt in regards to Cedrick’s current bowl-cut hairstyle (Papa Kasper had the same hairstyle in the late 80s/early 90s).
