It’s officially ugly sweater season, and only a month away from Christmas. Both Kasper boys are wearing their sweaters from Mama this year. - Cedrick is wearing a bright red sweater with Krampus on it. In recent years, Krampus had appeared in pop culture (had anyone else seen the movie?), and the Kaspers are no strangers to mythical creatures. Also the word “NAUGHTY” is something a teenager would wear. And Krampus just seems like a fun take on the Santa lore (I recently found out Krampus is only one of many Santa’s helpers; he’s got Knecht Ruprecht, Zwarte Pete, etc.). - As for Papa Kasper, he’s got a green sweater with Jesus Christ. Christmas is really a combination of an ancient Roman celebration for the sun god and Germanic festivities, but leave it to the Catholics to make it all about Jesus - which led to the overly commercialized holiday that it is today. And big hint: “BIRTHDAY BOY” isn’t just for Jesus (yes, I made my OC born during the holidays just like me). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #man #boy #teenageboy #uglysweater #holidayseason #krampus #jesus #frauv8_ocs

So far, this is my favorite color scheme I’ve done. I love bright neon chartreuse, and I figured darker colors would balance it out - therefore the Williamses are the right set of characters for this study. And they are also some of the most fun characters to draw. - ‼️SENSITIVE TOPIC BELOW‼️ - I’m still working on drawing diverse characters since it’s something that haunts me from my fledgling artist days. I had been accused of drawing only white people, and well...I’m going to be blunt about my background: I’m half White (other half Asian), grew up surrounded by mostly White people, and childhood dolls... yeah, classic blonde Barbie dolls except for the redhead Midge and Hispanic Teresa dolls. So culturally, I’m very White American despite being mixed (only Asian things I was exposed to growing up were family, church, food, Asian markets, Sanrio, and Anime; I also wasn’t accepted by many other Asian girls I’ve met in school because I was told I was too White). So being around other kinds of people wasn’t much of a thing until I was in High School, College, and work. - There’s also some challenges about drawing ethnic characters. Darker skin tones are tricky without getting so muddied and dark you can’t see details/line art (you can see it a little actually in this pic). Also, I’m deathly afraid of drawing/coloring in a character and s/he looking like a caricature of the ethnicity I’m trying to depict. Not doing a good job drawing them in a respectful way will get unwanted attention (again, the Kaspers are safest to draw because what I’m most familiar with visually, and sadly we live in a world where “White” still considered the “cultural standard”). - I’m so sorry for rambling on about this sensitive topic, but it’s something I try to improve on as an artist. We live in a world with all kinds of people out there, and they all deserve to be drawn. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #colorstudy #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #africanamerican #malecharacter #man #father #femalecharacters #woman #mother #daughter #niece #family #frauv8_OCs

Another color scheme pic; these colors are similar to a previous drawing (last slide). - It’s also a Kasper family portrait with Papa Ström stepping in. Looks like a happy family, but seconds before Freyja snapped the shot, everyone else isn’t so happy - especially her husband and father (second slide). Erik and Johannes Faustuz have a long history in not liking each other, but for family’s sake, they’re willing to set their grudges aside momentarily. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #colorstudy #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #boy #men #father #grandfather #son #femalecharacter #woman #mother #family #frauv8_ocs

It’s official - my husband and I are going to Japan next month! We’re off to Shinjuku/Tokyo to check out whatever we can cram in a week, lol. To get hyped, I was suggested to draw something “Japanesey”, and this is the result: Aunt Yoko, her son Hansel (Hanzo), daughter Hannah (Hana), and nephew Johannes Faustuz (Fausto) in traditional Japanese garb. — Hansel and Hannah are “halfu” while Faustuz is “gaijin” (specifically “doisujin”), but all three Kasper siblings definitely look alike in many ways. Being the youngest and odd one out (especially after Uncle Heinrich’s death), Faustuz tried many things to make his aunt less spiteful of him - learning to write/speak Japanese, making origami flowers as gifts, keeping his grades up in school so he’ll become a doctor, and going so far as dumping black ink on his head to make his hair dark like the rest of the family. Yoko still isn’t quite attached to her nephew (it pains her to see him look like her late husband), but his cousins are much more appreciative of his work and presence now since he reminds them so much of their father. —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #autodesksketchbook #halftone #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #malecharacters #femalecharacters #men #women #family #aunt #mother #siblings #cousins #traditionaljapaneseclothing #japaneseclothing #kimono #frauv8 #frauv8_ocs

Another color study - this time with the color of yellow (getting “Kill Bill” vibes with this color scheme). - Cedrick (or “CK” as his coworkers and acquaintances call him) is showing off a few of the latest Fall fashion trends this year. (There’s been so much tweed, knits, houndstooth, glen plaid, and yellow everywhere!😧) He’s also got a different haircut (well, actually a more trimmer and styled version of the bowl-cut he had for the past year), and he’s really looking like his father with that hairline. Cedrick also has his usual mismatched shoes despite being both sock shoes of the same brand (sock shoes are quite popular this season too). - I included closeups of his clothes, the original finished version featured in the IGTV post, and the line art for anyone who wants to color him in - just tag @frauv8 #frauv8colorthisin so I can see your work.🤗 — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #lineart #colorstudy #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #boy #teenageboy #yellow #fashion #fallfashion #plaid #sockshoes #frauv8_ocs

The color behind Freyja should be familiar - it’s #livingcoral, the Pantone color of 2019 and same color I used in a previous drawing of her back in January. The way she’s dressed should also look familiar - Freyja is wearing an outfit inspired by her husband’s work attire, only much more stylish and vibrant (and less wrinkled, lol). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #sketchbookautodesk #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #characterdesign #characterstudy #colorscheme #femalecharacter #fashion #pantone2019 #frauv8_ocs #frauv8

Another color scheme study/character sheet with the “Daddies” Tyrone, Johannes Faustuz, and Leyon. - Last slide shows real-life versions of their shoes in case anyone wants to dress up like any one of these papas, lol. (Tyrone wears Nike, Faustuz wears Puma, Leyon wears Lacoste) - •Tyrone has a 5-year-old daughter named Quintella “Queenie” and a 18-year-old niece named Patricia “Tricia”. •Faustuz’s son is Cedrick, a 15-year-old Wunderkind doctor who also works at the hospital as a lab technician and surgeon in training (specifically with VR/AR). •Leyon is in charge of the hospital, dabbling in a bit of everything; his son is Vincent-Claude “Vinnie” DeValuer, a young 35-year-old Professor at the university who teaches Biology, Antropology, and Archeology (he’s currently teaching Tyrone’s niece Basic Biology). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #sketchbookautodesk #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #characterdesign #characterstudy #colorscheme #malecharacters #charactersheet #doctors #scrubs #shoes #frauv8_ocs #frauv8

Something creepy as Halloween nears. - Still plan on making a more detailed digital version since this is a quick ink pic done in my mini sketchbook; the detailed version would also have him wearing a shirt with a rib cage to complete the skeletal-look - and Frl. Flicka’s true form! Or another idea is have Cedrick in his fantasy version revealing his reaper-form which would be his actual skeleton showing through. - Media Used: •Kuretake Pens •0.5 Erasable Ink Pen •Daiso “Frequently” Alcohol Illustrator Markers — #frauv8 #drawing #sketchbook #inkdrawing #sketchbookart #leuchtturm1917 #inkart #inkartwork #alcoholinkart #alcoholmarker #alcoholmarkerart #traditionalart #markers #marker #markerart #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #skullmakeup #skull #bowlcut #blond

Finished. Swipe to see full version without text. ➡️ And yes, “Sjöpenna” is a lamp you can buy on IKEA. According to the world’s most infamous translator Google Translate, it does translate as “sea pen fields” from Swedish. (makes sense looking at the lamp) And Cedrick is half Swedish, but doesn’t consider himself Swedish since he was born and raised in Kiel like his father. But Tricia doesn’t care - all she knows that his mother Freyja is Swedish therefore he’s Swedish too. — They first met when Tricia was 13 and Cedrick was almost 10 when Hr. Dr. Kasper had to assist teaching at the university; at this time, her uncle was still a medical student. Tricia mercilessly picked at Cedrick since he was so much smaller and couldn’t speak much English, often making him cry. Then one day the Kaspers were gone, making Tricia initially sad thinking that she was the reason why they left. Fast forward five years, Tricia is barely surviving her first year of college while Cedrick is much taller, fluent in several languages, and finished medical school at 14. Tricia is annoyed now that she needs help from someone she used to pick on in order to survive college; Cedrick, on the other hand, doesn’t have any hard feelings towards her - just gets frustrated every time she skips out on tutoring and babysitting for mall trips with her best friend Carmen. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #autodesksketchbook #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #femalecharacter #malecharacter #frauv8 #frauv8_ocs

About a week ago I asked if there’s any fan art anyone would like me to draw, and here she is! She’s not exactly the same as the original in detail, but I’d say she has the same vibe. (@porkopti) - I know a lot of people just think I only draw my OCs, but it’s not always the case. I’ll do occasional DTIYS challenges, some fan art (whether it’s requested or out of whim), and rarely commissions. Doing challenges and requests allow me to interact with others as well as sharpen my skills and creativity as an artist. - Let me know what you think in the comments!👩🏻‍🎨 — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #autodesksketchbook #animestyle #characterart #fanart #femalecharacter #hatsunemiku #miku #mikuhatsune #racingmiku
