Cedrick and Frl. Flicka.
Since quarantine, the two have been getting along better after spending so much time together.
But occasionally the Kaspers’ pet Hellhound/Doberman reverts back to her bad habits barking and chasing Cedrick around like cattle while she waits for her favorite master to come home from work.

#sketchdump of three generations of Kaspers drinking coffee and tea.
☕️
Hr. Dr. Kasper doesn’t have any warm feelings for his father Richard (for lots of reasons), often getting upset whenever someone mentions him and how much he’s like his father; on the other hand, Johannes Faustuz gets emotional to the point of tears whenever someone talks about his mother Sigrid.
He’s been ashamed of the fact that he’s the child of a man who was a playboy, called a “Quack”, and married a teenage girl (large age gaps were much more common back then).
But after reading his mother’s diary, listening to stories from his grandmother Aina and father-in-law Erik, and finding tapes Richard recorded before his death, Faustuz has slowly become more understanding of who his father really was.
-
Cedrick knows very little about his grandfather, but has been told he’s just as much of a jokester like Richard when he was a boy by Tante Yoko.

These are actually great for exploring character relationships and playing around with clothing.

Another #sketchdump with Richard, Sigrid, Aina, and a baby Johannes.
-
Aina had always been saddened by her daughter’s fate to die young, afraid of Sigrid not living a full life until then.
Richard’s appearance was when Aina knew Sigrid’s time was almost up, but she also realized that Death sent the youngest Kasper - an unmarried, handsome traveling Grim Reaper/doctor - to observe Sigrid as a possible act of mercy (Richard isn’t as hasty to kill compared to his father; he also had pity for Sigrid).
She was beyond happy when her daughter and Richard finally fell in love, got married, and had a son, but was soon devastated with Sigrid’s predicted demise followed by Richard’s unexpected death; her last glimmer of joy was her grandson Johannes Faustuz, whom she enjoyed taking care of during the summer months whenever he visited Copenhagen from Kiel.

Pink seems to be the color creeping in here...

I have 2 other pics of Richard and Sigrid saved as drafts but never posted in queue; not sure if I want to post them up anytime soon...
Maybe when I’m absolutely stuck with Artist’s Block then I’ll post them (they’re scrapped pics set aside and never posted).

•About Each Sketch:
Hedy the neighbor’s black cat had been killed once by Richard (he mistook her for a Tatzelwurm), but having multiple lives, she came back to life even more affectionate towards him much to his dismay.
Cats are also closely associated with Death and the occult; Hedy likes being around Richard even though he claims that he hates cats (he really loves cats, just doesn’t like showing it).
Oddly Hedy catches and brings back all the souls she finds to him, something cats never do for Grim Reapers (cats like chasing souls away for fun, making it more difficult for Grim Reapers to do their jobs); Richard isn’t an ordinary Grim Reaper.
-
Sigrid doesn’t wear her glasses often in fear of her classmates bullying her and breaking them; she sees well enough to walk around and ride her bike, but not clear enough to read things or fully recognize a person’s face.
*Kaspers wear glasses because their heterochromia; when their green eye isn’t in use, it looses normal vision and puts extra strain on their blue eye.
(this is also why they’re often tired, cranky, and suffering migraines if they can’t get hold of a good source of caffeine and snacks - the green eye takes up a lot of energy to use)
-
As a little girl, Sigrid was told that she wasn’t going to live past the age of 16 due to the curse her father placed on her - thus she would never fulfill her dream of getting married and being a mother just like her mother Aina.
To console herself as she grew up, Sigrid turned to collecting seeds and raised lots of plants for her mother Aina’s flower shop, referring to them as her children.
One of Sigrid’s final plants was a wisteria sapling, the seed planted the same day when she found out she was pregnant.

Another Richard and Sigrid #sketchdump.
—
Poor Richard had his clothes removed and taken away every time he’s done killing Tatzelwurms in the backyard - Aina got fed up cleaning the blood dripping onto her rugs and would rather wash his clothes instead.
Aina did her best to get Richard’s clothes done before Sigrid gets home from school, but occasionally Sigrid had no choice but to deal with a naked Grim Reaper/Monster Hunter locked up in her bathroom.
Sigrid was initially upset and embarrassed (especially if she actually needed to use toilet or shower), but over time - and especially when they were officially a couple - she would enjoy teasing him.
-
There’s also a glimpse of Richard suffering from Lovesickness (mainly caused by expressing nonstop affection and getting constant rejection over a long period of time), the first symptoms being high fever and extreme fatigue.

#sketchdump of the Kasper Brothers Heinrich and Richard.
—
Despite their 5-year age gap and opposing personalities, the two brothers were extremely close, often found at the local bar drinking and singing karaoke.

#sketchdump of the Kasper Brothers and their lovely ladies.

Heinrich met his wife Yoko abroad in Hiroshima, Japan during a business trip there.
The two quickly fell in love and married within two months, starting a family as soon as Yoko moved to Kiel with Heinrich.
They had two children - a son Hansel, and a daughter Hannah two years later; but because he didn’t have a son who inherited “Odin’s Eye”, Heinrich had to give up his position as family heir to his younger brother Richard.
This caused a brief rift in the brothers’ relationship, but Richard quickly bonded with the two children, often spoiling them with candy and toys every time he came home to Kiel.
Heinrich and Yoko would take in Richard’s son Johannes Faustuz after he died; Yoko would continue to raise Faustuz as her own after her own children had left home and Heinrich’s death from lung cancer.
-
Richard and Sigrid took much longer to establish their relationship as a couple.
Richard had just broken off his engagement and was sent to Copenhagen to a flower shop; he realized he was sent to observe the shopkeeper’s teenage daughter Sigrid who was cursed with only two years left to live.
Richard immediately felt pity but was also smitten by Sigrid’s beauty, constantly wooing her with gifts and affection whenever he visited her.
Sigrid initially didn’t want anything to do with him with his playboy reputation and being so much older than her; but after Richard suffered a serious case of lovesickness during a visit, Sigrid allowed him to recover in her room, which lead to a night of unexpected passion.
Richard and Sigrid were married in a year; they had a son, but Sigrid died a few days after giving birth.
Richard felt so much guilt in Sigrid’s death that he soon followed after her from heartbreak and illness almost three years later (there’s been hearsay that Richard hasn’t died but was sent to the underworld to keep souls from coming back out; there’s also rumors saying that he’s actually Death himself).

Johannes Faustuz can never get a break from soul collecting because there’s always something or someone dying nearby.
Like any task, there’s times it gets so busy he can’t keep up and needs help.
Faustuz is also wearing an updated version of his father’s outfit from the 1980s.
-
Grim Reapers and Monster Hunters are becoming more rare as less people are in tune with the spiritual, mythical, and occult world.
And not all souls get collected based on what they are (ie. plant and insect souls are mostly harmless, but animal and human souls - especially those who died suddenly and violently - are extremely dangerous and prone to transforming into monsters that harm the living).
Luckily most souls like to gather together and often like to float around the closest Grim Reaper wanting to move on.
But there are creatures that like to chase or devour them (cats can be a Grim Reapers biggest annoyance because they not only had multiple lives but also chase souls as if they’re yarn balls).

A closer look at Richard’s look, which was a mashup of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
(I really enjoy drawing clothes)
-
“If it doesn’t have holes and they still fit, there’s no need to get new clothes” was Richard’s philosophy - thus he had a hard time switching to the 1980s in regards to his fashion.
But Sigrid often rolled her eyes and groaned seeing him in clothes from a decade ago whenever he visited her; she’d save up men’s fashion articles and cut out each item to place on top of Richard from a distance, taking a photo as she did so to show him later that it’s time to give up his denim bell bottoms for straight leg jeans (he finally changed his pants after they started dating).

A message from the doctor:
“Please continue to wear your masks and mind your distance, even after getting vaccinated.
Keep up with the hard work and together we will defeat this pandemic sooner than later”.
-
Hr. Dr. Kasper all dressed up for work with his grandfather’s lab coat and unique footwear.
His slacks are folded up as usual because they’re not long enough (Johannes Faustuz is a really tall guy at about 6’5” / 195cm).

Richard’s outfit is screaming the late 1970s/early 1980s era which he and Sigrid lived in.

Thought drawing about the strawberry dress again (because she’s strawberry-blonde), but decided a green polka dot dress would be more interesting.
She’s also a fashionista wife, so definitely something more original and contrasting with her hair color would be in order.
This is also a dress I’d love to wear if I could wear dresses.
(I don’t have any occasions that would allow me to wear dresses - I’m stuck wearing Adidas, Puma, or Nike clothes all the time for practical reasons)
