It’s been a long time since I posted something... I’m really burned out from work, having lack of sleep, and severely suffering from Artist Block. Even the fashion Richard and Sigrid are wearing are off-season... Richard vs. Johannes Faustuz at the same age (23). - I haven’t done a #charactersheet of these two guys together, especially since Richard would not be alive when his son was 23. Next one I probably should draw is either one comparing Cedrick with his father and grandfathers (Cedrick has been told he looks just like Richard or a younger Erik) when they were his age (14-15), or Sigrid vs. Johannes Faustuz to show how much he takes after her (of the two, Faustuz really looks more like his mother but with his father’s coloring - especially with his hair long). Quick #charatersheet of Sigrid and Richard, circa 1979-1980. - When Richard first saw Sigrid at her mother’s flower shop on Valentine’s Day, he was not only lovestruck with her beauty, but was shocked seeing she only had less than five years to live using his Odin’s Eye on her; he figured out Death had sent him to watch over her on her final days of life. Sigrid’s mother Aina explained that she was cursed when she was a newborn by her own father who was greedy in extending his own life, leaving Sigrid less than twenty years. Richard was saddened, saying that as a teenager Sigrid should spend time with her friends and her boyfriend if she had one instead of working at the shop; Aina laughs, further explaining that Sigrid was a loner and has no boyfriend. Richard was then determined to woo Sigrid not only because he was in love with her, but also because he wants her to live the rest of her life to the fullest before Death comes for her. At first Sigrid was wary of his advances, knowing his reputation as a hotheaded playboy; she was reluctant to accept his weekly gifts of candy, perfume, and jewelry, but over time, she slowly lowered her guard to allow him a farewell kiss on the cheek. But after about a year, Richard’s lovesickness takes the best of him, making him pass out from fever and starvation. Sigrid felt terrible, afraid he was going to die because of her stubbornness. Aina comforts her daughter and tells her that Richard wasn’t going to die - he just needs to “spend the night with her” to cure his lovesickness, which Sigrid immediately protests since she’s never been with a guy before. Quick #charactersheet of Officer Rodriguez and Hr. Dr. Kasper. Hopefully my cursive is readable (I’ll write it all down in separate comments below). Slide 2 is an old pic from May 2018. — How did these two first characters meet? Granger was actually on patrol duty when Johannes Faustuz was out chasing after lost souls late at night. Initially she thought he was a mentally ill person on the loose, so she tackled him, handcuffed him, and stuffed him into the back of her tiny car. It wasn’t until she saw the glowing odd-colored eyes Granger realized she not only caught a Grim Reaper like herself, but a rare monster slayer of legends; she felt even more ashamed when she found out he’s also a doctor from her local hospital. Poor Faustuz had to be picked up by his father-in-law after Granger released him (you can imagine what that conversation was like when they hate each other); it’s also why whenever he hears police sirens nearby on the street, he gets panic attacks, afraid he’d be tackled, shoved into a tiny space, and taken away to an unknown location (pretty relevant right now for lots of people...😑) - Since then, their paths cross often since they both live/work in the Los Angeles area; occasionally they collaborate, but Granger doesn’t like newcomers encroaching on her home turf (she hasn’t met Cedrick yet, so...) Quick doodle. - Going all the way back to the late 1990s when Freyja and Hr. Dr. Kasper were the same age as their son Cedrick. They’re childhood sweethearts, first meeting at the library Aunt Yoko worked when they were about 10 (Faustuz is 6 months older than Freyja). At first they couldn’t understand each other, but they were immediately drawn to each other with a love for books and their families being involved with the mythical and occult; over the years Faustuz learned English (Freyja was already fluent in English on top of her native Swedish) and Freyja struggled with German (Faustuz is German-Danish from Kiel), allowing them to communicate their thoughts and feelings for each other and what books they had read together (they normally speak English to each other, but for more intimate conversations, they switch to German). It’s #internationalnursesday! Yay for nurses! - My grandma (Dad’s mom) was a nurse, and lots of aunties are/were nurses (I’m half Filipina; it’s a stereotype for Filipinos and other Asians to be nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and dentists but it’s so~ true😅). Despite having nurses on both sides of the family, I don’t have enough empathy and patience with people to be one (I’ve had people say I look like one, especially now with masks, headbands, and my oversized shirts and Adidas jerseys which resembles scrubs); if I had money for medical school, I’d probably be a geneticist, textbook illustrator, or maybe even a coroner or forensic anthropologist (I actually liked dissecting dead things and looking at bones; it’s sick living people that freak me out the most). - Nurses are often in the shadows of their doctor counterparts, but they’re often the ones doing all the grunt work and checking up on the patients, making them feel better and less afraid; nurses are also mostly female, making them super women. - Kimiko Abe is the Kaspers’ assigned nurse when they’re working in Los Angeles; when they’re back home in Kiel, it’s Hansel - making it a Kasper trifecta. Kimiko is petite, often tries pulling off work she’s not quite ready for, and gets so scared that she often hides behind Hr. Dr. Kasper, but she’s very compassionate and does everything she can to put smiles on patients’ faces. Hansel is quick jotting down data and so skilled at drawing blood that patients barely feel a thing; the only thing that gets on Hr. This is what Johannes Faustuz is currently wearing as he works at the hospital. Normally Hr. Dr. Kasper does consultations and surgery to remove cancer tumors, but with elective surgeries delayed, he’s set aside to triage and test patients for COVID-19. - The sad news that keeps coming up: unfortunately doctors and nurses are in shortage of PPE to shield themselves from infected patients. Lots of fashion corporations are sewing up gowns and masks to help with the shortage, and places like tattoo boutiques are donating gloves; if you have extra equipment, please donate to your local hospitals. Freyja’s four cousins, two sets of brothers: Ragnar with Werner and Einar with Gunnar. - Freyja’s father Erik Ström was the oldest of three sons, so he was set to inherit the family estate and company from his father. But things got heated when Erik had no children for years while his two younger brothers had sons. Things appeared settled once Erik’s wife Sonja was finally expecting a baby, until the baby was a girl. Only once in the far Viking past a female was placed in charge of the Ström clan, so Erik’s brothers weren’t too enthusiastic about their sons being in the service of a woman. All four cousins were at first annoyed with having to treat Freyja as a princess, only to realize as they got older that she’s been bearing all the family’s responsibilities as leader. Before Freyja met Johannes Faustuz, it was once assumed that she would marry one of her cousins, most likely Gunnar. As adults, all four have duties under Freyja to keep the family business running. - •Ragnar is second in line to inherit Ström Corporations, after Freyja should anything happen. He’s very much like his uncle, helping out with the physical labor in making occult weaponry. •Werner is Ragnar’s younger brother; Cedrick has been confused as him now that he’s just as tall, but Werner is more gruff and ragged. He designs weapons based on provided research from the Kaspers, then gives the blueprints to his brother and uncle for completion. •Einar is the oldest son of Erik’s youngest brother. He’s vain, hates fighting monsters, and has the taste for the finest of things - but at a reasonable price, thus he’s in charge of financing. •Gunnar is the youngest cousin, 3 months younger than Freyja, Einar’s brother. As a boy he wanted to marry her, but growing up he realized he didn’t want any part of the demands of being co-leader nor deal with his hot-tempered uncle. Character sheet of these two hubbies together in matching colors - red and grey. - Freyja thinks it’s cute that her husband has a “Work Spouse” who depends on him; Asia, on the other hand, is extremely jealous of her husband spending more time with Johannes Faustuz than he does with her. - As for the two guys, Tyrone loves being around Faustuz since he gets free food and advice about being a father and husband; Tyrone is also excited with common things they share - such as being born around a holiday (Tyrone was born on Thanksgiving Day; Faustuz was almost born on Christmas Eve), growing up poor and being raised by other relatives (Tyrone was raised by his grandmother; Faustuz was raised by his uncle and aunt), playing the same video games in their childhood (Super Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Pokémon), and being really tall (both are over 180cm / 6 ft. tall). Oh Instagram with your silly square format...✂️ - If Cedrick is “The Boy With Odd Eyes”, his father Johannes Faustuz is “The Oncologist With Heterochromia”. Heterochromia is the scientific way of saying odd-colored eyes, and both father and son have it; in some cases, it’s a dominant trait. For the Kaspers, only those who inherit blue eye genes from both parents will get it - almost always one eye being green and the other blue (few times there has been brown and blue eye combinations, like Hansel’s daughter Leisa). Heterochromia for the Kaspers also means they inherit an ability to see the strengths and weaknesses of mythical creatures as well as see hidden beings that could potentially become harmful (such as Ghosts and Yōkai). The ability also allows for Faustuz and Cedrick to have perfect eyesight at the cost of mental and physical energy (this explains their addiction to caffeine, constant snacking, need for power naps, and often being grouchy at the hospital). - I was debating whether I wanted to draw this pic like the last one, but there’s just something about the pencil brush texture that kept me from doing that. Now I’m going to figure my next two pics... Testing out some alcohol markers I got from Daiso. Nice vibrant colors, not very good blendablity. They come in packs of two for $1.50 USD, so very cheap - maybe too cheap since one of the markers leaked inside the wrapper before opening and I had to throw it away (also made my skin blue like a Smurf for a bit). So far, my favorite alcohol markers are Hobby Colour, Windsor & Newton, Master, Illustrator, and Ohuhu; Copic is great as always, but way too pricy. - As for the art, it’s a bit cutesy compared to my usual style. It’s a different take on Freyja and Faustuz, almost like a Shojo manga.
