#sketchdump again with Richard and Sigrid in the 1980s. About each drawing📝: •Aina often asks Richard to check up on her daughter Sigrid since she’s been bullied by schoolmate since childhood. One time Aina requested that he pick Sigrid up immediately after school, and Richard trying to clarify asked “Do you mean by car or sweeping Siri off her feet?”; without an answer as it was time to go, he just went with the latter and carried poor Sigrid home from school (like a genie or android, Richard can be a bit too literal at times if given instructions aren’t specific, lol). •To keep things simple, Richard says that he’s 30 or 35; but as his true self as Death, he’s really ancient at 300,000-350,000 years old (which is approximately the same time Homo sapiens emerged). It’s also a common trope to depict Death as an old man with a young girl to show the concept that no matter how pretty and lively someone is, Death’s always ready to snatch them away at any moment (think Hades and Persephone). Another #sketchdump : Sigrid’s former crush Batty Sorensen. A sketch is missing because it won’t fit within Instagram’s square format (refer to the highlight “SIGRID’S DIARY” to see it). - Sigrid was in love with the local arcade owner’s oldest son Sebastian (nicknamed “Batty”). Batty was 6 years older than her - athletic, stoic, tall, dark-haired, and the beau of the neighborhood (Sigrid wasn’t initially attracted to Richard because he was almost the opposite - Richard was also tall and athletic but fair, blond, wore glasses, outgoing, and much older). She watched him from a distance behind a wall, often blushing and stammering whenever she tried talking with him; Batty would just shove her aside and called her “an annoying waste of space and time” (he was aware of her life curse and felt he should ignore her to avoid becoming attached). Batty enrolled into the police academy after graduating high school, leaving Sigrid in limbo about his whereabouts. Months prior to Richard’s appearance Batty had Sigrid make a bouquet of flowers for him (which she poured her all her love into it); Sigrid’s heart shattered when she heard that he had proposed to an older schoolmate, leaving her bitter and believing she no longer had a chance living out her childhood dream of getting married before her curse takes effect. When Richard started visiting Sigrid and researching at the local university more often, Batty often confronted him to maintain his status as the “hero of the neighborhood”. Batty also didn’t like the fact a foreigner was dating the girl once obsessed with him, forcing him to reexamine his true feelings. #sketchdump into the 1980s with Sigrid and Richard. There was a 4th sketch, but it wasn’t going to fit within IG’s square format - it’s featured in the highlight “SIGRID’S DIARY” for future reference. • Sigrid’s School Uniform.💼 Sigrid attended an all-girls academy run by nuns, priests, and others familiar with the occult and mythical (it’s a mix of a religious high school with Hogwarts). Her uniform is basically a collared white shirt, a red necktie, a blue sweater or blazer with her school emblem (a red shield with a white cross), a red plaid skirt, black stockings / knee socks, and a pair of oxfords; Sigrid often wore pink leg warmers and jellies sandals with her uniform to add vibrant splashes of color. • Off to Tivoli Gardens.🎡🎠 Sigrid lived in Copenhagen where one of the world’s oldest amusement parks resides; it was also the inspiration for the first Disneyland. Tivoli Gardens was one of their favorite places for late night dates to avoid being easily seen by anyone who didn’t approve of their relationship. Sigrid’s favorite rides were the Ferris wheel, swings, and carousel - which also happen to be Richard’s least favorite rides (he gets motion sickness riding them). • Human Anatomy Books.📚 Sigrid loved textbooks - especially ones with illustrations and photos - but her school didn’t have many because the principal wanted to teach the “ancient ways without modern influences”. Since being acquainted with Richard, she had access to the local university’s library whenever he’s working there.
