Quick #charactersheet of Officer Rodriguez and Hr. Dr. Kasper. Hopefully my cursive is readable (I’ll write it all down in separate comments below). Slide 2 is an old pic from May 2018. — How did these two first characters meet? Granger was actually on patrol duty when Johannes Faustuz was out chasing after lost souls late at night. Initially she thought he was a mentally ill person on the loose, so she tackled him, handcuffed him, and stuffed him into the back of her tiny car. It wasn’t until she saw the glowing odd-colored eyes Granger realized she not only caught a Grim Reaper like herself, but a rare monster slayer of legends; she felt even more ashamed when she found out he’s also a doctor from her local hospital. Poor Faustuz had to be picked up by his father-in-law after Granger released him (you can imagine what that conversation was like when they hate each other); it’s also why whenever he hears police sirens nearby on the street, he gets panic attacks, afraid he’d be tackled, shoved into a tiny space, and taken away to an unknown location (pretty relevant right now for lots of people...😑) - Since then, their paths cross often since they both live/work in the Los Angeles area; occasionally they collaborate, but Granger doesn’t like newcomers encroaching on her home turf (she hasn’t met Cedrick yet, so...) Everyone is constantly looking through windows to see if it’s safe to go outside - or if their orders from Amazon has arrived yet. — Papa Kasper is still furloughed, just waiting to get back to work once he gets the green light to operate again. Even how he dresses has become more like pajamas since he no longer goes outside for meetings, lectures, consultations, anything that requires wearing a tie. Freyja loves the fact that this is the longest he’s ever been home from “normal” work, Cedrick is worried about his father feeling useless when his ward had been overtaken by COVID-19 beds (why he’s furloughed), and Grandpa is not very happy being forced to have daily “quarantine talks” with his son-in-law. The only thing that stays the same is that all the creatures (mythical critters and pets) living in the house still beg for their food, get daily walks or play sessions, and love him unconditionally. - And much to his dismay, Death has been knocking on the Kaspers’ door more often with a long list of lost souls and spirits to collect. Luckily he has Cedrick to help him out this time, and in rare occasion they’ll encounter Officer Granger Rodriguez, another local Grim Reaper (I’ve drawn her before, but it’s been a long time since; I should make a character sheet about her with Hr. After suffering excruciating pain and temporary blindness in his right eye after drinking the water, Ulrik was able to see many unseen creatures and knowledge. Ever since, only direct male descendants of Ulrik Kasper who are blue-eyed and blond inherit “Odin’s Eye”. — It’s another blinking animation since it’s the easiest one to make. But it’s still a bit of work to draw and time just right so it looks more natural (I still yet have to animate the perfect blink). Quick doodle. - Going all the way back to the late 1990s when Freyja and Hr. Dr. Kasper were the same age as their son Cedrick. They’re childhood sweethearts, first meeting at the library Aunt Yoko worked when they were about 10 (Faustuz is 6 months older than Freyja). At first they couldn’t understand each other, but they were immediately drawn to each other with a love for books and their families being involved with the mythical and occult; over the years Faustuz learned English (Freyja was already fluent in English on top of her native Swedish) and Freyja struggled with German (Faustuz is German-Danish from Kiel), allowing them to communicate their thoughts and feelings for each other and what books they had read together (they normally speak English to each other, but for more intimate conversations, they switch to German). It’s #internationalnursesday! Yay for nurses! - My grandma (Dad’s mom) was a nurse, and lots of aunties are/were nurses (I’m half Filipina; it’s a stereotype for Filipinos and other Asians to be nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and dentists but it’s so~ true😅). Despite having nurses on both sides of the family, I don’t have enough empathy and patience with people to be one (I’ve had people say I look like one, especially now with masks, headbands, and my oversized shirts and Adidas jerseys which resembles scrubs); if I had money for medical school, I’d probably be a geneticist, textbook illustrator, or maybe even a coroner or forensic anthropologist (I actually liked dissecting dead things and looking at bones; it’s sick living people that freak me out the most). - Nurses are often in the shadows of their doctor counterparts, but they’re often the ones doing all the grunt work and checking up on the patients, making them feel better and less afraid; nurses are also mostly female, making them super women. - Kimiko Abe is the Kaspers’ assigned nurse when they’re working in Los Angeles; when they’re back home in Kiel, it’s Hansel - making it a Kasper trifecta. Kimiko is petite, often tries pulling off work she’s not quite ready for, and gets so scared that she often hides behind Hr. Dr. Kasper, but she’s very compassionate and does everything she can to put smiles on patients’ faces. Hansel is quick jotting down data and so skilled at drawing blood that patients barely feel a thing; the only thing that gets on Hr. Tyrone and Johannes Faustuz are finally together again. With PPE, they could maybe possibly technically hug, but Hr. Wunderkind’s Notes: Amabie Vs Meerjungfrau - Both creatures hail from the seas, but are very different in nature: the Amabie is sweet, while the Meerjungfrau is nasty. - Another creature that’s related to these two is the Melusine, or two-tailed river Mermaid whose origin is from France. At work, Johannes Faustuz is called “The White Grim Reaper” by his coworkers behind his back; he got his nickname because of his unnatural accuracy for predicting how long a patient has before passing on. Well, they’re not wrong - Hr. Dr. Kasper is technically one, just not in a traditional sense (all Kaspers are associated with Death, which is why their family symbol is the black skull). - Faustuz prefers saving his fellow humans, killing monsters gone rouge, and chasing after ghosts who refuse to pass on; but lately Death has been constantly following him and whispering in his ear nonstop to the point he snapped at work. Normal people obviously can’t see Death himself, so coworkers seeing Faustuz randomly swatting and screaming at nothing at this time would instantly make it look like he’s delirious and gone insane - so he’s been sent home until further notice.
