Finished this pic while flying over to Japan in a 12 hour flight (not fun being packed like sardines in seats barely big enough to fit someone as small as me). - Klimt always wake up Papa Kasper just to be fed. Klimt loves being around Papa Kasper even though he’s Cedrick’s pet. — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #man #cat #mangastyle #animestyle #pixaloop #lineart #frauv8_ocs

Sarcastic as always. - After having a perfect cup of hot coffee and with a last name associated with the presence of ghost, Hr. Dr. Kasper is quite a frightful sight at work. - Something simple this time - I’ve been getting packed up for my trip to Japan for the past few days. I’ll try to post up stuff whenever since I’ll be busy there; otherwise, it might be when I get back home before I post anything new. — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #man #doctor #blackandwhite #mangastyle #halftone #frauv8_ocs

Sleep deprivation will make you crazy...🤪 - It’s another color study/experiment. This is another one of my favorite color schemes since it’s vibrant but balanced - no vibrating edges, nice complimentary colors. It also has that popular yellow color that’s everywhere Fall/Winter 2019 fashion season. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #colorstudy #animation #malecharacter #youngman #teenageboy #bowlcut #blond #doctor #scrubs #frauv8_ocs

Quick “Wunderkind’s Notes” on the turkey. Cedrick just thinks turkey is just an overrated big bird (which it is; I actually like roasted chicken or duck better). - Yes, Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of the USA (turkeys are actually quite aggressive birds, just not very pretty to look at). And yes, turkey meat (if not cooked right) is dry and needs a heavy dose of gravy to make it more enjoyable. And cranberry sauce... don’t eat the canned stuff if you can avoid it. - The second slide is a written script of the spin-off to last year’s Tyrone’s turkey troubles. Kinda has a Goofy instructional video vibe to it, a little meta since the Kaspers are talking to the audience, but overall it’s so silly and not really worth making into a comic. (Seriously, who wants to hear Cedrick speak in sexy anatomical terms on how to carve a turkey?) Not all my comics have prepared scripts, and lots of times the final isn’t like the original. But I do get random inspiration from mythology, fairy tales, and pop culture as well as character quirks - therefore you never know what and when I’ll cough up a comic. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #notes #turkey #script

Cedrick and his father Johannes Faustuz with hot drinks. What kind of drinks? Both Kasper guys are lactose intolerant, so most likely straight black coffee or soy versions of popular holiday drinks (the soy version of the peppermint mocha coffee latte is delicious). Where the Kaspers come from, Winter is cold, rainy, and often snowy. (It’s currently cold and raining were I live; it’s really feeling like Winter yet it’s still technically Autumn) - I used Pixaloop for the snow and breath/steam effects. —— #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #pixaloop #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #man #teenageboy #fatherandson #holidayseason #winter #snow #frauv8_ocs

🎵Have yourselves a merry Scandinavian Christmas🎄🎶 I don’t think this can get anymore Hygge and Christmasy, lol. Seeing Freyja and Johannes Faustuz all cuddled up together with Frl. Flicka makes me want a cup of hot cocoa right now. - Since the Kaspers are Scandinavian (she’s Swedish and he’s German of Danish ancestry), everything in their home combines both ideas of Hygge and Lagom. “Hygge” is the Danish term for warmth and happiness in the simple things in life; the Swedish “Lagom” concept is all about living with the right amount of stuff without being too excessive. - I have the line art in the 3rd slide for anyone who wants to color it in. More ugly sweaters! This time it’s Mama Kasper and her father. - Papa Ström wears a Santa suit sweater obviously because he’s got a beard and white hair. Freyja even joked her father is a “bad-ass Santa Claus” (her husband and son would disagree). Papa Ström isn’t known for kindness, but is often generous in showering his family with gifts - especially for his daughter and grandson. - Freyja wears a green sweater like her husband with a big yellow bow and tag that says “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL X-MAS”. No commentary is required to explain why she’s wearing her sweater.😗 - More ugly sweaters are in mind for Tyrone, Vincent-Claude (he’s going to have a Hanukkah sweater), and Kimiko. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #femalecharacter #man #woman #uglysweater #holidayseason #present #santa #frauv8_ocs

It’s officially ugly sweater season, and only a month away from Christmas. Both Kasper boys are wearing their sweaters from Mama this year. - Cedrick is wearing a bright red sweater with Krampus on it. In recent years, Krampus had appeared in pop culture (had anyone else seen the movie?), and the Kaspers are no strangers to mythical creatures. Also the word “NAUGHTY” is something a teenager would wear. And Krampus just seems like a fun take on the Santa lore (I recently found out Krampus is only one of many Santa’s helpers; he’s got Knecht Ruprecht, Zwarte Pete, etc.). - As for Papa Kasper, he’s got a green sweater with Jesus Christ. Christmas is really a combination of an ancient Roman celebration for the sun god and Germanic festivities, but leave it to the Catholics to make it all about Jesus - which led to the overly commercialized holiday that it is today. And big hint: “BIRTHDAY BOY” isn’t just for Jesus (yes, I made my OC born during the holidays just like me). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #man #boy #teenageboy #uglysweater #holidayseason #krampus #jesus #frauv8_ocs

So far, this is my favorite color scheme I’ve done. I love bright neon chartreuse, and I figured darker colors would balance it out - therefore the Williamses are the right set of characters for this study. And they are also some of the most fun characters to draw. - ‼️SENSITIVE TOPIC BELOW‼️ - I’m still working on drawing diverse characters since it’s something that haunts me from my fledgling artist days. I had been accused of drawing only white people, and well...I’m going to be blunt about my background: I’m half White (other half Asian), grew up surrounded by mostly White people, and childhood dolls... yeah, classic blonde Barbie dolls except for the redhead Midge and Hispanic Teresa dolls. So culturally, I’m very White American despite being mixed (only Asian things I was exposed to growing up were family, church, food, Asian markets, Sanrio, and Anime; I also wasn’t accepted by many other Asian girls I’ve met in school because I was told I was too White). So being around other kinds of people wasn’t much of a thing until I was in High School, College, and work. - There’s also some challenges about drawing ethnic characters. Darker skin tones are tricky without getting so muddied and dark you can’t see details/line art (you can see it a little actually in this pic). Also, I’m deathly afraid of drawing/coloring in a character and s/he looking like a caricature of the ethnicity I’m trying to depict. Not doing a good job drawing them in a respectful way will get unwanted attention (again, the Kaspers are safest to draw because what I’m most familiar with visually, and sadly we live in a world where “White” still considered the “cultural standard”). - I’m so sorry for rambling on about this sensitive topic, but it’s something I try to improve on as an artist. We live in a world with all kinds of people out there, and they all deserve to be drawn. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #colorstudy #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #africanamerican #malecharacter #man #father #femalecharacters #woman #mother #daughter #niece #family #frauv8_OCs

Another color scheme pic; these colors are similar to a previous drawing (last slide). - It’s also a Kasper family portrait with Papa Ström stepping in. Looks like a happy family, but seconds before Freyja snapped the shot, everyone else isn’t so happy - especially her husband and father (second slide). Erik and Johannes Faustuz have a long history in not liking each other, but for family’s sake, they’re willing to set their grudges aside momentarily. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #colorstudy #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #boy #men #father #grandfather #son #femalecharacter #woman #mother #family #frauv8_ocs
