Another Cedrick pic.🤦🏼‍♂️ With a cup of coffee.☕️ Just like the last one.😑 But why is he in Kiel when he’s supposed to be taking care of his father’s work? Aunt Yoko decided to not get rid of the Yōkai after all, only after seeing how the Yōkai were staying together as a family despite everything she had done. It reminded her of when her husband Heinrich had died and all the hardships she endured trying to keep the family functional. But at the same time, it’s possible she decided to keep the Yōkai only to make things harder for her nephew since she doesn’t like him. It’s ultimately up to the Yōkai whether they want to stay or go with Johannes Faustuz. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #femalecharacter #frauv8

A rare work drawing I made yesterday. It’s been a long time using markers, but it looks like I’m still able to blend my inks well. - It was supposed to be a younger Johannes Faustuz, but it ended up being an older Cedrick.😛 In my original concept made back in 2005-2006, Cedrick was supposed to be in his 20s; my current project has him at age 15-16. — #lechtturm1917 #sketchbook #minisketchbook #traditionalart #drawing #pen #pencil #mechanicalpencil #coloredink #blackink #ink #alcoholmarkers #winsorandnewton #originalcharacter #malecharacter #coffeecup #glasses #blond #frauv8

The Kasper Siblings: Hansel, Hannah, and Johannes Faustuz. All three are often nicknamed “Hans” due to their similar first names. - Hansel and Hannah are actual brother and sister; Johannes Faustuz is their younger cousin who was raised with them after his parents died. Growing up Hansel and Hannah weren’t particularly close with Faustuz since the age gap between them is a bit (Hansel is 8 years older; Hannah is 6 years older), but growing older they realize they actually like their younger cousin. Faustuz often gets random hugs whenever Hansel or Hannah miss their late father Heinrich due to his resemblance to him. Aunt Yoko never liked Faustuz; she has always been tough on him since he’s not her biological child and he had been chosen to be the next head of the Kasper Family whenever Olaf Kasper dies (the Kasper Siblings‘ grandfather, Yoko’s father-in-law). Because of this, Hansel and Hannah try their best to support their younger cousin by all means so he can take care of the family legacy. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #femalecharacter #family #cousins #siblings #frauv8 #frauv8_ocs

Haven’t done one of these in a long time~ 😫 Just felt like drawing a watch because I’m expecting my own watch to arrive in the mail sometime soon, lol. My dream watch is a NOMOS, but I settled with something that looks very much like it at a fraction of the price. - Anyway, I might make a digital version of this because why not.🤷🏻‍♀️ — #lechtturm1917 #sketchbook #minisketchbook #drawing #pen #pencil #mechanicalpencil #pilotpen #blackink #ink #originalcharacter #malecharacter #watch #wristwatch #glasses #bowlcut #frauv8

The Yōkai are so happy to have a new family member on the way; it won’t be known whether it’ll be a Kappa or Garappa until it hatches in three days. Afterwards, hopefully Johannes Faustuz can take them back to his current residence in California. - As for Hans and Hans, it’s emotional for them to see a family together when they’re separated from their own. Hansel has the worst luck of the three Kasper Cousins/Siblings in regards with relationships due to his work and wandering eyes; back in his younger years, he was the most popular boy in school with many girls chasing after him. He has two daughters: Evangeline (with his second wife Martha) and Elizabeth Keiko (with his third wife Heidi); his first wife Greta had left him due to his infidelity in less than two years of marriage. Eva is ten years older than Cedrick, while Leisa is seven years older. Like Cedrick, Leisa has odd-eyes, except one brown, the other blue. Neither daughter wants anything to do with the Kasper lineage, but they’ll be featured sometime in the future. - As for Hannah, she never had children for multitude of reasons. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #yokai #garappa #kappa #hyosube #frauv8

Johannes Faustuz was filling up a kiddie pool when Garappa started having labor pains. He’s calling out for his older cousin Hansel because he is a nurse; even though he’s a doctor, Faustuz needs some assistance in dealing with this situation. Egg laying for Garappas is extremely painful and risky considering how large the egg is compared to body size (think of a Kiwi bird). A Garappa will remain with her egg until it hatches; she will have to rely on her mate for food and comfort for the next few days. This is also a vulnerable time since she’ll be weak from egg laying and incubation, not be able to eat to regain her strength. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #yokai #garappa #kappa #hyosube #frauv8

Cedrick’s notes on Kappas and Garappas. - Kappa is much shorter than his mate Garappa, kinda like how Johannes Faustuz was once shorter than his wife Freyja when they were children. - In actuality, Kappas and Garappas in Japanese folklore are only male; they can be violent, are pranksters, and are drawn to human women in an unpleasant way (think opening episode of “Goblin Slayer”☹️). I decided to made these Yōkai a bit different so they can be more likable while still drawing from original sources. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #autodesksketchbook #drawing #notes #sketches #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #animestyle #yokai #kappa #garappa

The Garappa finally reveals herself to the Kasper Siblings - and she’s so adorable with her big eyes and round belly ready to pop. - The Kappa and Garappa are mates expecting their first egg. In their case, a male offspring will be a Kappa, while a female will be a Garappa. I’ll have another “Wunderkind’s Notes” regarding how Kappa/Garappa pairings work. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #femalecharacter #yokai #garappa #blackandwhite

Freyja normally doesn’t like having creatures living in her garden, but after hearing what happened to the pond in Kiel, she can’t help but take in the Kappa and Hyōsube. It’s also revealed that a third Yōkai is also homeless - the Garappa. But she’s in hiding and expecting her egg any day now. Johannes Faustuz, Hansel, and Hannah will have to figure out a temporary fix until the Garappa lays her egg. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #femalecharacter #yokai #kappa #hyosube

Uncle Heinrich’s pond is gone!😱 Aunt Yoko replaced it with concrete slabs for easy maintenance without any consideration for the Yōkai that lived there for almost fifty years. Kappas love cucumbers, but as a little boy, Johannes Faustuz was only able to get jars of pickles to feed the one living in his uncle’s garden. Pickles are still cucumbers, just... well, pickled; the Kappa is more than happy to eat them regardless whether they are fresh or preserved. - It’s also another shot in making a #drawthisinyourstylechallenge. My challenges don’t get any attention, so I don’t expect much tbh...🤷🏻‍♀️ I included the #lineart if anyone wants to do a #colorthisinyourstyle instead (use #ctiys_frauv8 if you do color). Johannes Faustuz confronts his aunt Yoko about his uncle’s garden. - Uncle Heinrich made the garden with a pond for his father-in-law to enjoy while he visited Kiel from Hiroshima; over the years, three things were brought over from Japan: a Kappa egg, a Garappa egg, and an infant Hyōsube attached to an eggplant. Yoko’s father had hopes that either Hansel or Hannah would befriend the Yōkai and become a doctor as a reward for doing so. Neither grandchild wanted to do anything about the Yōkai, thinking they only existed in Japan and not wanting to be doctors (Hansel ended up being a nurse while Hannah became a chef). - Overhearing and being fascinated with stories of the Yōkai, a little 3-year-old Johannes Faustuz often visited the garden pond with a jar of pickles in hand, tossing them into the water; he’d get excited seeing each of the floating pickles suddenly sink below the surface. But one day, the boy fell into the pond trying to lean in closer to see the pickles disappear. Unable to swim yet, Johannes Faustuz cries out for help. A green shelled creature pops up to help the boy swim to shore; the boy offers what’s left of the pickle jar to the creature before it dives deep into the water; Yoko’s father arrives to scold him for seeking the Yōkai and leaning towards the water carelessly. Ever since, Johannes Faustuz would occasionally leave behind a jar of pickles nearby the pond. The creature was obviously the Kappa, and because he was offered pickles over the years, he tells the other Yōkai to not cause him any trouble. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #femalecharacters #yokai #kappa #hyosobe

“Wunderkind’s Notes” on the Yōkai Cousins that will be featured: the Kappa, the Garappa, and the Hyōsube. There’s also a cute comparison to the the Kasper Cousins with the Yōkai, and Aunt Yoko being blunt in regards to Cedrick’s current bowl-cut hairstyle (Papa Kasper had the same hairstyle in the late 80s/early 90s). All three Yōkai are closely related based on behavior, but one doesn’t quite look like the rest - just like how Johannes Faustuz stands out from his cousins Hansel and Hannah. - For those who can’t read my cursive in regards to the Yōkai: “ KAPPA •Likes cucumbers 🥒 •All male •Lives in ponds and rivers - GARAPPA •Likes soybeans and cucumbers •Male or female •Lives in lakes, ponds, rivers, oceans - HYŌSUBE •Likes eggplants 🍆 •Mostly male; females rare •Lives in ponds and rivers “ — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #autodesksketchbook #drawing #sketches #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #yokai #kappa #garappa #hyosobe
