The Three Eternal Deities: Fate, Death, & Nature. - Fate is in charge of all things existing, including Time itself and the concept of Who, What, When, Where, & Why. She was bored being alone, so she first created a second Deity she named Nature (a.k.a. Life) to help create the World & its living beings. However, Fate foresaw Nature’s careless behavior of causing disasters & greediness to make various forms of life overtake the World; to control the population & overconsumption of resources, she created Death to collect & store souls. Of the 3, Death is the least liked due to his task to slow the eventual depletion of resources and Life itself; to ease his frustration, Fate allows him to take human form to explore & observe the nature of humanity over different eras (he obtains an incarnation every 1000 years or so, depending upon Fate’s generosity). Lately Fate’s frustrated with the uncontrolled exponential growth of human populations & extinction of organisms caused by Nature’s whims, ordering Death to set up a small army of Grim Reapers (humans in various cultures who understand Death’s purpose). I’m still collecting references for my 6 Fan Arts, so here’s another sketch dump: * Richard & Heinrich Kasper. Heinrich is the older brother who’s cool, calm, and collected (especially if he has a cigarette in hand); Richard is the younger brother who’s hot-headed, impulsive, brazen, and at times can be obnoxious (he likes to tease and play pranks). Despite their differences, the two brothers enjoy each other’s company whenever they’re together at their hometown of Kiel. * Sigrid & Richard tending plants at the greenhouse. Whenever Richard stays overnight during a visit, it’s usually because Sigrid’s mother Aina needs extra help with certain tasks around the flower shop/ house (usually lifting up heavy objects, repairing anything broken, and getting rid of pests - especially Tatzelwürmer). Initially Sigrid was annoyed and couldn’t stand sharing anything of hers with anyone else; as their relationship slowly advanced from acquaintances into lovers, she allowed Richard into her room (sometimes leading into unexpected passionate nights together). * Sigrid with her younger half-brother Torben (her father’s son with the academy’s headmistress) and Heinrich’s children Hansel & Hannah. Another #sketchdump : • Heinrich & Richard’s younger half-sister: Sabrina “Nina”Vandenberg. Sabrina was the result of their mother’s affair with an American soldier she eloped with after giving birth to a second son she didn’t want. Sabrina doesn’t mind her oldest half-brother Heinrich being everyone’s favorite child (she also adores him for his cool & collected demeanor), but like her mother and stepfather, she can’t stand being around Richard and constantly belittles him to show her dominance within the family (both siblings resemble their mother & have the same hot temper). She also doesn’t like Richard’s new girlfriend Sigrid - feeling mostly jealous of her youth, beauty, wit, & ability to cast complex spells (Sabrina is about 5-10 years older than Sigrid and never went to an academy to hone her magical skills). • Both Kasper Brothers have been extremely close since their mother abandoned the family for her lover & their youngest sibling, with Heinrich often protecting Richard from their father’s abuse. Sketch dump featuring Johannes and his father Richard (Death in his human form). • Richard took care of Johannes for about the first 4 years of his life (Sigrid died a day after giving birth). As the toll of transformation between his true form and his human body was starting to show, Richard left his toddler son with his brother Heinrich’s family and returned to the Underworld (Sigrid’s mother Aina still held a grudge towards him after she witnessed his transformation into Death and removing Sigrid’s soul). Though Johannes doesn’t remember much of his early childhood, Richard took him almost everywhere he went (he does have a favorite memory: hearing Richard singing him to sleep; Johannes sings karaoke to emulate his father’s voice). • It’s not known if Johannes is a Deity like Death, but he (as well as his son Cedrick) show physical signs as a direct descendant - his bones appear as tattoos when he performs his role as Grim Reaper (they still paint their faces / wear masks as part of traditional Reaper attire). It makes sense he’s ranked the world’s top Grim Reaper as the result of a match setup by Fate Herself (she thought Death could use a few helpers with the exponential boom of human souls over millennia). • Death normally is in his skeletal form, but whenever there’s a case of a God-class monster spawning or going rogue, he’s often summoned back temporarily as a human again to assist Reapers; he can only be summoned by direct relatives, and most of the time he returns as the age Richard would have been if he was “still alive” (he has returned at the age he “died” a few times, making it awkward for Johannes because they’ll physically be around the same age).
