Sigrid Jørgensen with her childhood crush Sebastian “Batty” Sorensen. Sigrid first met Batty when his family moved to the house next door when she was 3 and he was 10; he was the first boy she seen and liked him ever since. His father Didier owned the local arcade, and every day after school Sigrid went there to play video games just to get a chance to see Batty outside of their home setting. Batty never reciprocated her feelings for him, always calling her “annoying” and “clingy” despite his father and Sigrid’s mother Aina expecting one day he’ll grow to like Sigrid and expected the two will get married someday. But Batty continued to keep his distance from Sigrid over the years, joining the police academy to avoid contact until he graduated, and finding an upper classmate from the Enchantress Academy to date to ward off Sigrid’s affections for him. He took further action to break her heart rejecting her love confession on Valentine’s Day and announcing a hasty engagement to the girl he was dating. When Richard Kasper finally arrived in Copenhagen, Batty started to feel emotions towards Sigrid, ranging from concern to jealousy seeing her falling in love with another man. It wasn’t until Sigrid’s marriage and death that made Batty realize how cruel he had been to her, that he truly did love her after the failure of his own marriage and facing backlash from his father who wished Batty had married Sigrid instead. It’s because of all of his regrets and remorse that he feels resentful towards Johannes whenever he sees him visiting Copenhagen, but Batty also feels pity because Johannes has no memory of Sigrid and is the only living reminder of Sigrid being her son. #digitalart #art #oc #anime #copenhagen

Somehow, somewhere, sometime in the 1980s with Richard [Death] and Sigrid (Johannes’ parents). “Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann”/“Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” by Nena is actually one of my favorite songs from the 1980s - no disrespect to her most well known and loved “99 Luftballons”/“99 Red Balloons”. [I understand enough to know the two versions aren’t the same song translated one language into the other; some songs also sound much better in their native language, so I guess that’s when my Duolingo lessons are paying off…] — As for the characters… it’s just really fun drawing them in their respective decade’s fashion. Richard’s look is a hint residual from the 1970s with the striped t-shirt, gym shorts, and socks, but the 1980s did carry that athletic style well until up to the early 1990s (and short gym shorts for men seem to be back again in the 2020s); he has design influences mostly from Robert Redford, who was a heartthrob of the previous decade of the 1970s - and the actor actually played Death in “The Twilight Zone” (there might be faint hints of David Bowie, as well as Brad Pitt and River Phoenix, but Richard was definitely not a teen in the 1980s - he’s quite ancient). Sigrid’s look was heavily inspired by Brook Shields and Jennifer Connelly’s fashion in the 1980s; her overall appearance was based off of a combination of the two teenage actresses since they were both popular at the time (long dark blonde/brown hair and bright blue eyes).
