Soft brushes again... 😑
I prefer using hard brushes when drawing and coloring because it feels more finished and pops out more compared to soft brushes.
It’s actually easier to color and shade with soft brushes since they blend into each other, but there’s something about using hard brushes and halftone when I’m coloring and shading...
Oh well - it’s more practice with the anti-characteristics of my artwork.

“The Dog House” is practically an indoor patio linked to the backyard, making it easy for the pets to run around freely and for the humans enjoy the outdoors while being inside. It gets its name because it’s where Freud the Dachshund stays to keep out of trouble (he loves digging up Freyja’s garden and chasing Klimt the Weegie and other creatures that take refuge in the Kasper residence).
It’s a place where the pets eat, sleep, and play, extra plants grow, and where Hr. Dr. Kasper sleeps whenever he’s in trouble with his wife or wants to stay away from his son and father-in-law (also where he stayed for two weeks after being furloughed from work... and it looking like he might be working again, but as an online professor this time around).
Johannes Faustuz finds peace amongst the plants and animals as he reads books, magazines, and whatever periodicals are lying around; it’s also the only connection he has with his mother Sigrid since she loved plants while working in her mother’s flower shop in Copenhagen (she died soon after he was born).
If it gets too quiet, Faustuz will play tape cassettes of his mother reading children’s books like “Peter Rabbit” in Danish (which he still struggles speaking with his grandmother Aina; Kaspers are Danish in ancestry, but living in Jutland for centuries makes them German, so when they actually try speaking Danish, it’s with a heavy accent and bad grammar).
He also has recorded tapes of his father Richard, but Faustuz doesn’t seem to be interested listening to a man who was known as a playboy in his younger years.

Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick enjoying the cool breeze of their mini electric fan. Both father and son can’t stand the sun and heat, but Mama Kasper absolutely loves it (Freyja is most likely out in the backyard swimming).
Faustuz is wearing a black mesh tank saying “Made in the 80s” because he literally was (making him a Millennial, not Gen X-er or Boomer as Tricia calls him); Cedrick is wearing a blue cotton crop-top which are quickly gaining popularity amongst teen boys it seems (the 90s are officially back with a vengeance).
Both father and son have their hair up: Faustuz with a man bun and Cedrick with a mini bun/topknot.

It’s been unbearably HOT here in California (currently over 100F/38C🥵). Also on “Power Alert”, so a blackout can happen anytime (it’s happened once when I wasn’t home - all the clocks were messed up, lol).
So stay safe: set those thermostats to 78, use fans, stay in the shade or indoors, drink LOTS of water, relax, and keep them masks on if you are outside despite being super hot (i.e. there was a heatwave in Israel early during the pandemic and cases spiked drastically because people stopped wearing masks due to heat; really shows how effective masks are in preventing infections).
If you really can’t breathe while wearing one in the heat, isolate yourself before removing it to catch your breath, then put it back on and seek shelter indoors.

Soft pencil and marker brushes with pastel colors this time; not my forte, but it’s good practice.
Also looks like Papa Kasper’s glasses are fogging up, but at least the Herr Doktor and his son are wearing their masks correctly over their mouths and noses.

Seriously - we had all the scientific proof that masks, hand washing, social distancing, and lockdowns worked a century ago with the 1918 (NOT F-CKING 1917!) Pandemic, so we should of bagged COVID-19 in months (the 1918 Pandemic took 2 years to recover from, but keep in mind they didn’t have any of the medical tech we have so millions got sick and died; had we done all the things to reduce a pandemic early on, we probably wouldn’t have as many people sick and dead).
But at the rate things are going with idiots running around in the world, it’s going to be YEARS before it’ll be “normal” again.
(phew - that’s my ranting for a while 😤)
It’s just frustrating seeing everything I’ve learned from Biology classes during the H1N1 and Ebola epidemics happening all over again but in a much bigger and worse scale - and there’s not much I can do about it but do my part wearing my masks, washing my hands, staying home whenever I don’t have work, and sharing the words of Dr. Fauci.

I was inspired by an ad for @jeffreestar’s lip colors of all things to make this, lol.
I wish I can wear makeup more often, but with sensitive skin and having to wear masks for more than 8 hours each day I work, it’s not very practical (also, I still get acne like a teen and I’m double the age of a teenager; people still can’t believe how old I am because I look at least 10 years younger partly because of my acne).

•OC INFO: Richard’s nickname is “Dickie”, not “Ricky” or “Richie”; his older brother Heinrich’s nickname is actually “Ricky”, not “Henry” as expected. Sigrid calls him “Dick” as a jab on his playboy ways, even after they’ve become a couple for life.

This won’t be my only take on the #artstylebend challenge going on (my challenge is good until the 23rd). The next pic based off the prompt could be a female OC since female bodies are obviously not the same as males. And drawing only using soft brushes is not easy (coloring with soft brushes, on the other hand, is actually easier than hard shading/lighting for me). This just shows that even I can still suck at drawing.😫

It seems like these two had been becoming more popular according to stats. Maybe because it’s the fact they’re from 1980 (aesthetics of the 1970s-90s are in), look cute together as a couple (though in today’s standards Richard most likely wouldn’t be allowed to date Sigrid since he’s 23 and she’s 16), or that their story is very romantic but also a sad one (they both die within a year from each other, leaving their son behind to be raised by his extended family). Maybe it’s all three? Either way, I try my best to mix things up.
