Richard normally would enjoy getting attention from Sigrid, but being naked and covered with countless Tatzelwurm bites and scrapes, he feels extremely vulnerable - making him embarrassed, sensitive, and jumpy around her.
Sigrid was also not initially happy dealing with him locked up in the bathroom whenever she needed to freshen up before working in her mother’s flower shop; she quickly got used to seeing a nude Richard and helped heal his wounds with sample ointments she and Aina made with their plants.
Richard hates dealing with Tatzelwurms because of how vicious and destructive they are; he also hates them because he always ends up being a bloody mess after getting rid of them - which led to the invention of his Tatzelwurm repellent.
Since he’d be covered and dripping with so much blood, Aina would force him to strip down and rinse off before being kept in the family bathroom to prevent him from staining her rugs inside her flower shop; at the meantime Aina would wash his clothes and hang them out, hoping they’ll be dry before Sigrid returned home from school.
But sometimes Sigrid was back before his clothes were done and he was still disinfecting his wounds out in the backyard, which led to awkward moments between the two - especially before they were officially a couple.

If Papa Kasper had his take on the Christkind, he’d be wearing all black and gold like a rockstar, lol.
(And Jesus totally looks like a metal rocker too… or hippie… huh…🤔)
Despite being stoic, academic, and very by-the-book most of the time, Faustuz does has a bit of a bad boy 1980s-1990s metal rocker that occasionally wants to be channel out (the long hair and singing karaoke with his cousin Hansel kinda hint at it).
Even though their son Cedrick put a lot of effort into making this outfit, there’s no way Mama is passing up the opportunity to have her husband all dolled up in a traditional holiday costume for charity.
I still can’t find a definite reason for the sex swap after lots of research - it’s a bit confusing how Christkind over centuries turned from a baby boy into a grown woman wearing a white and gold dress and huge crown; even vintage cards are often androgynous in regards to Christkind’s sex (just a blonde child with angel wings, white robe, and halo holding an evergreen branch and sack of gifts and often being followed by a deer), but the word “Kind” is gender neutral so… I guess it makes sense in that way?

Something I just learned and just happened to be coincidental while making this - St. Lucia’s Day is today.🕯
I was doing research on St. Lucia’s Day mainly because it would be something Freyja’s family would observe (she’s Swedish), but also how similar St. Lucia looks in comparison with Christkind (which was original focus of these notes).
Of the two, St. Lucia wins with the more interesting backstory - though Christkind has quite a story from being the literal Jesus into the blonde angelic lady who gives gifts and often tops Christmas trees.
Swipe one page over and we get to see Papa Kasper dressed up as Christkind for charity (if he had it his way, he’d wear all black instead of white, lol).

Wunderkind’s Notes:
The Candy Cane
As big symbol for the holidays, it’s meaning is kinda “Meh… It’s what I expect” and a bit too on the nose with the religious aspect of Christmas.
(the stuff on Santa and his numerous derivatives, on the other hand, is so much more fun)
Personally I don’t like the taste of candy canes (peppermint is a bit too strong by itself), but it’s supposed origin story is very relatable as someone who can’t stand noisy kids (snacks are definitely one of the quickest ways to keep little ones quiet - I’ve always wondered “WTF anyone brings babies and kids to services?!”).
