1961: Heinrich “Ricky” and his little brother Richard “Dickie”. (Slide 4: The Kasper Brothers c. 1979) - 1961 was the year when their mother Ida left the family for a younger American soldier; since then, Olaf grew more cruel and strict with the boys, especially with Richard - the son he believed to be the reason why his wife ran away. Heinrich, as the older and favorite child, tries his best to keep his rambunctious brother out of trouble while lessening the pain of loosing their mother and father’s constant criticism. The brothers were close despite their 5 year age gap and opposing personalities, often seen together playing football/soccer and drinking beer as they grew older into adulthood. Heinrich has always been stoic, quiet, and serious while Richard was the more outgoing, hot-tempered, but very intelligent brother. Their relationship was often strained when Heinrich gave up his duty of the family heir for love when he married a foreign woman, forcing the carefree Richard to take up the rigid work his brother left behind; but with the birth of his nephew Hansel and niece Hannah, Richard’s anger cooled enough to continue being the supportive younger brother. Heinrich (like most of the other family) was initially not fond of Richard’s decision to marry Sigrid, even more so when it was revealed that she was only a teenager and had a life curse; but after meeting the girl, he was quite impressed with her sharp wit and her strong will to live despite having a shortened lifespan (he enjoyed playing chess with her, discussing current events, and admired her gardening skills). Like Richard, Heinrich was deeply affected by Sigrid’s death after giving birth to the next family heir; in the remaining months of Richard’s life, Heinrich made efforts to assist his brother in taking care of his work and son. Crazy what a difference a year can be... - After a long shift at work at the hospital, Tyrone and Johannes Faustuz would often hit the bar for a beer or two to relax. Since COVID-19 hit, the two can no longer hangout with Tyrone still working at the hospital and Faustuz indefinitely furloughed (now working at home as a substitute professor). But timed right, Tyrone and Faustuz find a moment to share a toast and chat online. - •Side Note: TBH, I kinda envy my OCs because I don’t have close friends; since leaving school and other factors (I’d rather not mention out loud), I’ve lost contact with past friends and pen pals over the years, only having immediate family, my husband, and coworkers to keep me company (in other words, I’ve been living the quarantine life even before it was a thing, lol). Sigrid’s mother Aina explained that she was cursed when she was a newborn by her own father who was greedy in extending his own life, leaving Sigrid less than twenty years. Richard was saddened, saying that as a teenager Sigrid should spend time with her friends and her boyfriend if she had one instead of working at the shop; Aina laughs, further explaining that Sigrid was a loner and has no boyfriend. Richard was then determined to woo Sigrid not only because he was in love with her, but also because he wants her to live the rest of her life to the fullest before Death comes for her. At first Sigrid was wary of his advances, knowing his reputation as a hotheaded playboy; she was reluctant to accept his weekly gifts of candy, perfume, and jewelry, but over time, she slowly lowered her guard to allow him a farewell kiss on the cheek. But after about a year, Richard’s lovesickness takes the best of him, making him pass out from fever and starvation. Sigrid felt terrible, afraid he was going to die because of her stubbornness. Quick #charactersheet of Officer Rodriguez and Hr. Dr. Kasper. Hopefully my cursive is readable (I’ll write it all down in separate comments below). Slide 2 is an old pic from May 2018. — How did these two first characters meet? Granger was actually on patrol duty when Johannes Faustuz was out chasing after lost souls late at night. Initially she thought he was a mentally ill person on the loose, so she tackled him, handcuffed him, and stuffed him into the back of her tiny car. It wasn’t until she saw the glowing odd-colored eyes Granger realized she not only caught a Grim Reaper like herself, but a rare monster slayer of legends; she felt even more ashamed when she found out he’s also a doctor from her local hospital. Poor Faustuz had to be picked up by his father-in-law after Granger released him (you can imagine what that conversation was like when they hate each other); it’s also why whenever he hears police sirens nearby on the street, he gets panic attacks, afraid he’d be tackled, shoved into a tiny space, and taken away to an unknown location (pretty relevant right now for lots of people...😑) - Since then, their paths cross often since they both live/work in the Los Angeles area; occasionally they collaborate, but Granger doesn’t like newcomers encroaching on her home turf (she hasn’t met Cedrick yet, so...) 1980 when PAC-MAN made his debut outside of Japan. - Ever since she was a toddler, Sigrid has always been a fan of the arcade. She’d always beg her mother Aina for a coin and would play for hours nonstop with that one coin. Her classmates at high school think she’s a dork for liking video games, but little kids at the arcade love watching her play. Sigrid was pissed when she saw her high score on SPACE INVADERS was replaced by a new player - especially when she found out that player was Hr. Dr. Richard Kasper, the very man trying to woo her at her mother’s flower shop. Since becoming a couple, Richard lets Sigrid get first choice at the arcade and watches her play - he knows better than making her cry after loosing a hard-played game. - Nowadays, her son Johannes Faustuz has the same love for video games, which was also passed down to her grandson Cedrick. Dr. Kasper has been good friends for almost a decade, but they weren’t always the closest of friends at the beginning. Tyrone was quite the prankster when he was a medical student; Johannes Faustuz was substituting a Biology course for a week, and Tyrone mercilessly poked at him, cracking inappropriate jokes and teasing him for his serious demeanor. Once the week was finally over, Faustuz returns home to Kiel without saying goodbye. After a few years pass since, Tyrone was finally a practicing Pediatrician. One day he overhears coworkers talking about a new doctor hired for the Oncology ward; they mention how strange he was being unusually tall and thin, speaking with a heavy European accent, and having odd-colored eyes. Tyrone immediately snaps at them for bad-mouthing the newcomer, and then seeks out the doctor they were talking about. Whenever he gets furloughed from the hospital or when his colleague Prof. Vincent-Claude DeValeur goes out on archeological expeditions, Hr. Dr. Johannes Faustuz Kasper becomes a substitute instructor. He’s more than happy to share his encyclopedic knowledge with students, but often times he’s constantly trying to keep their attention on the chalkboard and off their phone screens. And occasionally there’ll be a student being a smart-ass just to piss him off (this is actually how he met first Dr. Tyrone Williams). -🚨‼️RANT ALERT‼️🚨- Right now there’s the big debate on opening schools up again in America despite the huge spike of COVID-19. Personally I think schools should stay closed until infections go down; if push comes to shove, a hybrid of limited and staggered in-class hours and mostly online sessions might be best. But 5 days a week all in-class? That’s asking for another spike since it’s mostly young people that spread coronavirus with minimal if no symptoms at all. I’m just absolutely infuriated and outraged with all the lost progress from the three months of lockdown. If people were more patient, kept their distance, wear their masks, learn from the 1918 flu pandemic, listened to the science, and if we had decisive leadership, we wouldn’t be in such a mess. We need to flatten the curve, not turn it into Mt. Everest and lead the world in infections and death. If this is still the first wave, Fall and Winter will be even worse. The worst thing I’m seeing is that people are becoming more complacent with the numbers of infections and deaths; how many more deaths is too many? 200K? 500K? A million? The 1918 pandemic lasted about three years; if we don’t anything and if there’s no vaccine developed in a year, how long do we want this pandemic to exist? #happy4thofjuly. Here’s some #fireworks. - I’m really low key about being American with the $h!tstorm going on for years, especially this year. I absolutely hate who’s in charge because he’s incompetent, has no morals, or compassion (seriously - his message is basically now “learn to live with Coronavirus”; that’s the equivalent of saying to a person just accept living life with their abusive SO 😡). My faith in people is shot after seeing all those months of hard work of repressing the virus practically disappear in a few weeks.
