Finally finished after staying up super late last night into the morning light, and dabbling on it some more in the afternoon and evening.
😮💨
It’s a different type of art style I felt like trying out, and I dabbled with #mentalcanvas to move around the image layers.

Initially Sigrid was cautious of Richard with his reputation as a cruel Reaper, the youngest son from an ostracized family, and promiscuous heartbreaking playboy.
Sigrid would often hide amongst the plants in the storage room in her mother’s flower shop or in the greenhouse and quietly observe Richard whenever he’s visiting taking care of assigned chores, killing Tatzelwurms and other pests, or picking up ingredients for experimental medicine (his day job is an epidemiologist attempting to treat illnesses caused by curses; his real job is collecting marked souls as Death Himself).
But as she got to know him more and was used to his weekly visits, Sigrid would start watching Richard with admiration and curiosity like that of a younger sister that grew into romantic love - often getting embarrassed and flustered whenever she’s been caught doing so (especially by her mother Aina, who’d constantly tease her until she fesses up her feelings; Richard would pat her head and laugh before giving her a kiss on the forehead, making her blush even more).

Sigrid manages to keep a Tatzelwurm away from her mother Aina using the new repellent, but not without getting a few bites and scratches before grabbing the squirt bottle.

Richard is excited and so proud of himself for making such a putrid Tatzelwurm repellent; Sigrid thinks otherwise - she’s grossed out by what he put in it and thinks he actually made a girlfriend repellent instead (she still loves him though).
Now to test it - if anyone is brave enough to approach a whole litter of Tatzelwurms in the backyard…

Richard and Sigrid doing some research together at the university library for a natural Tatzelwurm repellent.
-
Richard still prefers killing them to keep them from returning for a season, but Sigrid isn’t going to allow her soon-to-be boyfriend to do so after seeing how “cute” Tatzelwurms are - despite them destroying her mother’s backyard.
However, there hasn’t been a definitive repellent for Tatzelwurms to mask the scent of rare plants and deter their presence, so some research was done to look up for a base.
Sigrid was definitely disgusted with the results, but it’s onward to gathering ingredients, making the two repellent bases, and testing which one keeps the pests away.

Tatzelwurms are not to be messed with - they look cute, but they’re extremely vicious and destructive to both plants and Reapers alike.
They’re drawn to the scent of rare plants and minerals in the earth, causing them to dig them up and burrow nearby to produce large litters.
After countless times getting torn apart and patched up, and Sigrid not very happy about the method of extermination, Richard ponders on creating a repellent to keep Tatzelwurms out of Aina’s backyard.
Included are previous mentions and encounters of the Tatzelwurm (and there might be more to come).

Richard normally would enjoy getting attention from Sigrid, but being naked and covered with countless Tatzelwurm bites and scrapes, he feels extremely vulnerable - making him embarrassed, sensitive, and jumpy around her.
Sigrid was also not initially happy dealing with him locked up in the bathroom whenever she needed to freshen up before working in her mother’s flower shop; she quickly got used to seeing a nude Richard and helped heal his wounds with sample ointments she and Aina made with their plants.
Richard hates dealing with Tatzelwurms because of how vicious and destructive they are; he also hates them because he always ends up being a bloody mess after getting rid of them - which led to the invention of his Tatzelwurm repellent.
Since he’d be covered and dripping with so much blood, Aina would force him to strip down and rinse off before being kept in the family bathroom to prevent him from staining her rugs inside her flower shop; at the meantime Aina would wash his clothes and hang them out, hoping they’ll be dry before Sigrid returned home from school.
But sometimes Sigrid was back before his clothes were done and he was still disinfecting his wounds out in the backyard, which led to awkward moments between the two - especially before they were officially a couple.

Something very different and simple this time around.
Besides drawing OCs and clothing, I like to draw patterns with color palettes.🎨
It’s good practice for drawing lines and designs I’ll use in clothing or whatever in my artwork.
Let me know which one is your favorite in the comments below (1-16 left to right).

This was sitting in my Drafts for almost a whole entire YEAR! 😵💫
But it’s Holiday Season again, so now’s a good time to post it (then archive it, lol).
It’s Papa Kasper dressed up as a Heavy Metal Rocker Christkind.🤘🎸👑
[original 2021 commentary below]
If Papa Kasper had his take on the Christkind, he’d be wearing all black and gold like a rockstar, lol.
(And Jesus totally looks like a metal rocker too… or hippie… huh…🤔)
Despite being stoic, academic, and very by-the-book most of the time, Faustuz does has a bit of a bad boy 1980s-1990s metal rocker that occasionally wants to be channel out (the long hair and singing karaoke with his cousin Hansel kinda hint at it).
Even though their son Cedrick put a lot of effort into making this outfit, there’s no way Mama is passing up the opportunity to have her husband all dolled up in a traditional holiday costume for charity.
I still can’t find a definite reason for the sex swap after lots of research - it’s a bit confusing how Christkind over centuries turned from a baby boy into a grown woman wearing a white and gold dress and huge crown; even vintage cards are often androgynous in regards to Christkind’s sex (just a blonde child with angel wings, white robe, and halo holding an evergreen branch and sack of gifts and often being followed by a deer), but the word “Kind” is gender neutral so… I guess it makes sense in that way?
😞😖😣😫

Something I just learned and just happened to be coincidental while making this - St. Lucia’s Day is today.🕯
I was doing research on St. Lucia’s Day mainly because it would be something Freyja’s family would observe (she’s Swedish), but also how similar St. Lucia looks in comparison with Christkind (which was original focus of these notes).
Of the two, St. Lucia wins with the more interesting backstory - though Christkind has quite a story from being the literal Jesus into the blonde angelic lady who gives gifts and often tops Christmas trees.
Swipe one page over and we get to see Papa Kasper dressed up as Christkind for charity (if he had it his way, he’d wear all black instead of white, lol).

Some more clothes for Sigrid and Cedrick…

And the poll says Cedrick is the other paper doll.
He’s basically got a quarantine look and a hand-me-down look (Cedrick likes to look through closets and the attic to find old clothes stored away, ranging from the 1970s to the mid 2000s).
Now there’s two of them, a girl (1980s) and a boy (modern day), what other looks should I draw for them?

Of all my OCs, it’s Sigrid’s simple schoolgirl clothing and sweet smile that gets a lot of likes - therefore she’s perfect for making into a paper doll.
As for making more paper doll versions, eh…
We’ll see…
Probably make a poll and find out who else gets made into a paper doll, or add more looks for Sigrid (the 1980s was a fun time for fashion).
