So I know it’s currently a trend rn, but people really need to respect Miyazaki and just learn how to draw if they really want to appreciate his art…😒 Someone out there likened using ai to recreate the Ghibli art style is like a person saying microwaving a frozen pizza makes him a professional chef. It can be fun tool to use, but ai is sucking out the experience of creativity and appreciation of work; it’s making people really think art is just some quick, easy, cheap gimmick when in reality it took many lifetimes to get where we’re at. I don’t hate ai as in can be a useful tool to help in the process [as well as assist in many other things such as searching for cures for diseases and programming], but exclusively using it to make stuff is soulless—art will always need a human touch. This? It’s been a while since I’ve drawn on paper, and it’s a bit messy in many ways: Hans’ weird troubled expression, the poopy brown colors, the ink sticking to my skin… 💩 But… HEILIG SCHEIẞE, WTF IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD?! 😱 ‼️RANT ALERT‼️ Yes, I know it’s because of the 🍊🤡 for NO F-CKING REASON other than his stupid fascination of tariffs and inflating his ego; all he had to do was NOTHING and leave the economy ALONE, but NOOO~ He can’t keep his hands off and do what he does best: destroy things—like businesses, families, and now add in the USA’s reputation which won’t recover for an indefinite time (I have a teeny hint of hope it’ll recover because look at Germany—but it took them several decades to recover after WW2💀). It just infuriates me that all of this could of been avoided if people actually go out of their way to educate themselves and actually pay attention to the world around them, but people don’t work that way anymore—and it’s even more heartbreaking when some of those people are family members (me included—internally I’m fuming at my relatives who voted for him because of party loyalty and believing the rhetoric, but I still care about them… it’s just been really hard…) Idk how much more damage has to be done to get people to finally wake up and realize that this guy doesn’t have them in his thoughts, and that they need to do something for themselves. [Oh, and I have things to say about some Democrats as well—like stop being so passive, and you’re OLD! Overall, I believe anyone older than 70 years old shouldn’t be in politics, and a lot of our current issues have been cause by OLD MEN] Sorry for the long rant, but I had to let it out… Take care of yourselves out there in this Sh!t Storm of a world, and try to be empathetic and respectful of each other despite your differences and dwindling patience. Somehow, somewhere, sometime in the 1980s with Richard [Death] and Sigrid (Johannes’ parents). “Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann”/“Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” by Nena is actually one of my favorite songs from the 1980s - no disrespect to her most well known and loved “99 Luftballons”/“99 Red Balloons”. [I understand enough to know the two versions aren’t the same song translated one language into the other; some songs also sound much better in their native language, so I guess that’s when my Duolingo lessons are paying off…] — As for the characters… it’s just really fun drawing them in their respective decade’s fashion. Richard’s look is a hint residual from the 1970s with the striped t-shirt, gym shorts, and socks, but the 1980s did carry that athletic style well until up to the early 1990s (and short gym shorts for men seem to be back again in the 2020s); he has design influences mostly from Robert Redford, who was a heartthrob of the previous decade of the 1970s - and the actor actually played Death in “The Twilight Zone” (there might be faint hints of David Bowie, as well as Brad Pitt and River Phoenix, but Richard was definitely not a teen in the 1980s - he’s quite ancient). Sigrid’s look was heavily inspired by Brook Shields and Jennifer Connelly’s fashion in the 1980s; her overall appearance was based off of a combination of the two teenage actresses since they were both popular at the time (long dark blonde/brown hair and bright blue eyes).
