Looks like Sigrid was caught eying Richard from her mother’s flower shop... - It seems like these two had been becoming more popular according to stats. Maybe because it’s the fact they’re from 1980 (aesthetics of the 1970s-90s are in), look cute together as a couple (though in today’s standards Richard most likely wouldn’t be allowed to date Sigrid since he’s 23 and she’s 16), or that their story is very romantic but also a sad one (they both die within a year from each other, leaving their son behind to be raised by his extended family). I think my eyes hurt from staring at this guy for too long...😭 Doesn’t help that I also stay up past Midnight for multiple nights.😫 - Besides looking all pretty in pink, Hr. Dr. Kasper has plenty of pour-over coffee and traditional sweets for himself on the side: Baumkuchen, Prinsesstårten, and Strudel. Both Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick have “Odin’s Eye” which requires a lot of energy to maintain, so often father and son will fight over snacks and caffeine when they’re available. Most of the time Papa Kasper gives up for the sake of his son’s needs over his (as any parent would do, plus Cedrick is quickly catching up with him on size as a teenager), making him at high risk of being an easily irritable hangry monster around other people (he’s not called “Hot-Headed Hans” for no reason). — These kind of pics take a LONG time to make - even longer if I put more painful effort of shading and lighting. Part of the time it’s gathering references, other times it’s picking and playing with color schemes (that’s why there’s a bonus cyan blue version here), but it’s mostly the drawing and coloring process that takes so long (especially the drawing when there’s tiny details). - One of them days this old millennial here have to play with REELS using video versions of my pics just for funzies (because why not 😛). 1980 when PAC-MAN made his debut outside of Japan. - Ever since she was a toddler, Sigrid has always been a fan of the arcade. She’d always beg her mother Aina for a coin and would play for hours nonstop with that one coin. Her classmates at high school think she’s a dork for liking video games, but little kids at the arcade love watching her play. Sigrid was pissed when she saw her high score on SPACE INVADERS was replaced by a new player - especially when she found out that player was Hr. Dr. Richard Kasper, the very man trying to woo her at her mother’s flower shop. Since becoming a couple, Richard lets Sigrid get first choice at the arcade and watches her play - he knows better than making her cry after loosing a hard-played game. - Nowadays, her son Johannes Faustuz has the same love for video games, which was also passed down to her grandson Cedrick. Quick drawing of these two guys (pre-COVID-19 days). It’s also #internationalfriendshipday today. - Dr. Williams and Hr. Dr. Kasper has been good friends for almost a decade, but they weren’t always the closest of friends at the beginning. Tyrone was quite the prankster when he was a medical student; Johannes Faustuz was substituting a Biology course for a week, and Tyrone mercilessly poked at him, cracking inappropriate jokes and teasing him for his serious demeanor. Once the week was finally over, Faustuz returns home to Kiel without saying goodbye. After a few years pass since, Tyrone was finally a practicing Pediatrician. One day he overhears coworkers talking about a new doctor hired for the Oncology ward; they mention how strange he was being unusually tall and thin, speaking with a heavy European accent, and having odd-colored eyes. Tyrone immediately snaps at them for bad-mouthing the newcomer, and then seeks out the doctor they were talking about. Sigrid is also wearing a green polka dot dress similar to what Princess Diana wore in the 1980s. Richard is wearing a T-shirt with a sailboat and “KIEL” on it, a nod to where the Kaspers come from and where usually in the end of June/early July a large gathering of boats occurs.⛵️ *** Once again, I’m hunkered down. Work has been canceled until the 24th due to a number of people who tested positive for COVID-19. As far as I know, I haven’t been exposed to anyone sick, but with those who tested positive at work being asymptomatic really makes me nervous. And of course I won’t qualify for a test because I don’t have the classic COVID-19 symptoms or had contact with any with symptoms (my allergies, on the other hand, have been driving me crazy). #happy4thofjuly. Here’s some #fireworks. - I’m really low key about being American with the $h!tstorm going on for years, especially this year. I absolutely hate who’s in charge because he’s incompetent, has no morals, or compassion (seriously - his message is basically now “learn to live with Coronavirus”; that’s the equivalent of saying to a person just accept living life with their abusive SO 😡). My faith in people is shot after seeing all those months of hard work of repressing the virus practically disappear in a few weeks. I’m utterly disgusted with people who can’t accept the science and disregard others people’s right to live. Yet despite all the crap, there’s still a sliver of hope that maybe people will finally listen when the cost of life goes beyond ignoring. That’s one good thing about being an American - always looking forward towards a brighter future. Freyja doesn’t approve of wearing sweatpants during virtual work sessions, grocery shopping trips, rogue monster hunts, or collecting Death’s quota of souls - proving the saying that the wife chooses the pants for the man of the house is true for this family. - I had a lot of fun playing around with textures with this one. Originally I thought about adding in one of the Kaspers’ dogs, but I’m lazy and it would of covered up most of the detail in the mini book shelving unit. I also thought of adding on glasses, but with a pic of this size, I prefer them off to see his face clearly (last slide has Papa Kasper with glasses on). — I have work Thursday thru Sunday this week, then it’s going back down to Del Mar for the summer work season (as far as planned).
