Hr. Dr. Richard Kasper surrounded by a lot of holiday red and boca.
He holds an Iris, a birth flower of February - his beloved Sigrid’s birth month.
But at this point of time (c. 1979-1980), Sigrid hasn’t warmed up to Richard’s charms yet - she sees him as an annoying old foreign man with a lot of baggage constantly visiting her mother’s flower shop.

Random #charactersheet of these two when they were much younger (they’re both pushing 39-40 with their current designs).

Couldn’t quite decide what to do with this pic, so here’s a bunch of different variations.
-
Another intimate moment with Richard and Sigrid.
After officially becoming a couple, Richard would often visit and stay over at Aina’s flower shop/house in Sigrid’s room after weekly trips abroad, especially if he was too tired to make it to his extended family’s hotel.
He was always looking forward to spending nights with her for obvious reasons, but his biggest concern was to enjoy every moment they can be together with Sigrid nearing the end of her life from her father’s curse.

The Mamas taking a selfie.
So how did Asia Williams become a big fan of Freyja Ström?
Asia has been following Freyja since her teen modeling days, admiring the fact that Freyja has unique features: bright strawberry-blonde hair, freckles, a strong Swedish accent, and not being as tall as an usual supermodel (she’s considered a “Petite Model” at 5’7”/170cm); also, Freyja is a fellow working mother.
Because of her “lack of height”, Freyja had been sidelined often from major shows - so much that she got frustrated and went in hiatus working at her family’s business for almost a decade until a British producer needed a model to host his new TV fashion show; Asia was beyond ecstatic with the news of a TV show featuring her favorite teen supermodel returning to the fashion world, and has been watching her show religiously for five years while wishing to be a contestant.

Cedrick’s notes on the “Chickcarney” (also spelled #chickcarnie and #chickcarnee).
“
The (Andros) Chickcarney:
An owl-cat-like creature from the Andros region of the Bahamas that dwells in pine trees.
Usually harmless, they are viewed as good luck to travelers.
If treated poorly, a Chickcarney will place a curse on the entire family.

It’s not Halloween anymore, yet I’m still stuck drawing my characters with body and face paint.
Not feeling well with a severe migraine and reeling from watching the election results either.
I guess I’m in a dark uninspired mood.💀

Sigrid’s very frilly and girly princess pink bedroom, located upstairs directly above the flower shop.
-
Sigrid doesn’t always like showing off her feminine side, often making herself prickly like a porcupine to keep people away (aside from her mother Aina).
But it hasn’t deterred a foreign suitor from visiting the flower shop to woo her with random gifts of letters, cards, boxes of chocolates and cookies, bottles of Chanel No. 5, and Tiffany jewelry.
At first, Sigrid didn’t want to do anything with Richard and his gifts, but after he fell seriously ill with lovesickness, she felt guilty; she finally let him in her heart as he recovered in her room for a night.
Until her death, Sigrid would wake up with a random gift left behind by Richard on her bed; of all the gifts, her favorite was a custom engagement ring Richard had made for her with a raw pink South African diamond in the center.

An experiment to see how basic and simple I can digitally ink and color a pic; turned out really nice, so I might make another one.
Thought about making it look like it was drawn on lined paper, but it was too distracting.
At least I did it to the line art without color to make it look like it was doodled on lined paper.

Day 20:
Underwear 1
•Boxers
-
With the ridiculous heat in California for the last few weeks, Johannes Faustuz has been seen in his underwear more often just to stay cool at home.
His father-in-law Erik Ström doesn’t like running the AC 24/7 just to save electricity and money; also, Erik is actually enjoying the heat compared to freezing up in Sweden, making the house feel like a sauna.
One would also think Freyja would love seeing her husband hardly wearing anything during quarantine at home, but she thinks it’s absolutely inappropriate to not have a planned outfit for the day regardless of the lax social norms and unbearable heat; not even a tank-top and pair of sweatpants can save him from the earful he’s about to get from her - it has to be a “proper outfit “.

It’s just Cedrick walking the family’s pet Hellhound/Doberman Frl. Flicka.
The closer it gets to Halloween, the more she starts to show off her true form as a fire-breathing monster.

It’s been a long time since I posted something...
I’m really burned out from work, having lack of sleep, and severely suffering from Artist Block.
Even the fashion Richard and Sigrid are wearing are off-season...
(it’s Fall now, but still feels like Summer)
-
This was a quick #charactersheet made using the new mini posing figures I bought from Amazon recently; the figures just happen to be the right height difference for these two (as well as Freyja and Faustuz), which is going to be a great help drawing OCs from now on.

Hr. Dr. Kasper dressed up as a Grim Reaper, or “Juanito” as his fellow grim reaper Granger Rodriguez calls him.
2nd Slide is a cute bonus (still doesn’t reveal whether if he’s right or left handed; Cedrick and Freyja are officially left-handed, while Faustuz appears to be right-handed in most pics but he’s equally flexible with both), and 3rd Slide is another version of his Grim Reaper attire.

I might be a little bit early for Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos to be drawing this...😅
But I love drawing creepy things from time to time...
And in black and white too, which is technically digital ink work that could be ideal for Inktober this year...
-
I plan on drawing Granger in her grim reaper attire which will be heavily sugar skull inspired, as well as Cedrick with Frl. Flicka in her Hellhound form (she turns into a Hellhound only once a year around Halloween).

Floral Shirt & Strawberry Dress.
(idk what their son would wear if it’s the whole family, lol)
Also a combination of hard and soft brushes (still prefer hard brushes because it’s the closest thing to drawing with an actual pen in sketchbooks).
The color scheme also screams California (it’s literally these colors year-round, especially SoCal).
-
This was originally was supposed to be another Bio 101 highlight pic with Freyja making a surprise appearance as Hr. Dr. Kasper is teaching his online class cell division/reproduction (awkward), but it got more detailed over time and turned out like this.

“Come on~ I know you wanna play, Ricky~”
-
Richard and his older brother Heinrich.
Despite their five year difference and clashing personalities, Ricky and Dickie are very attached to each other. Since their mother Ida left their father Olaf for a younger lover when Heinrich was 9 and Richard was barely 4, the two brothers do everything they can to keep their broken family together. As the older brother, Heinrich always kept a watchful eye on Richard while keeping up with duties as the family heir; on the other hand, Richard was oblivious of his brother’s surveillance and was always out to cause trouble (mainly sneaking into forbidden territory and chasing after pretty girls).
But everything changed when Heinrich fell in love while on a business trip to Hiroshima, Japan; against family expectations, Heinrich married a foreign woman named Yoko Kobayashi. Because none of his two children inherited “Odin’s Eye”, Heinrich was stripped of his title as heir, forcing the family legacy and duties onto Richard, the son Olaf always saw as “an obnoxious extra mouth to feed” and the reason why Ida left the family.
Despite adoring his brother’s family, Richard had lashed out on Heinrich numerous times for the responsibilities thrusted onto him. Olaf had even arranged a potential bride for Richard, but she had shown her cruel nature towards Yoko and the children which immediately broke off the engagement (he left Sheila out in the rain with her shopping bags after seeing her treating Yoko like a servant).
About a year later while on a mission in Copenhagen, Richard encounters a teen girl named Sigrid, shocking the whole family when he marries her, bears the next family heir, and dies soon afterwards from heartbreak and illness (Sigrid died after giving birth, making him inconsolable and unable to handle the stress of raising his son alone).
In a cruel turn of fate, Heinrich was forced to resume his family duties and raise his nephew Johannes Faustuz as future heir of the Kasper legacy.

Going back to Late Summer 1979 with Richard and Sigrid (Faustuz’s parents).
It’s hard to say which “package” poor Sigrid is looking at.
Maybe the Tiffany blue box? 😅
-
Soft brushes again... 😑
I prefer using hard brushes when drawing and coloring because it feels more finished and pops out more compared to soft brushes.
It’s actually easier to color and shade with soft brushes since they blend into each other, but there’s something about using hard brushes and halftone when I’m coloring and shading...
Oh well - it’s more practice with the anti-characteristics of my artwork.
(Segway: My “Artist Bend” challenge is still a thing - go visit the Highlight for more information)

Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick enjoying the cool breeze of their mini electric fan. Both father and son can’t stand the sun and heat, but Mama Kasper absolutely loves it (Freyja is most likely out in the backyard swimming).
Faustuz is wearing a black mesh tank saying “Made in the 80s” because he literally was (making him a Millennial, not Gen X-er or Boomer as Tricia calls him); Cedrick is wearing a blue cotton crop-top which are quickly gaining popularity amongst teen boys it seems (the 90s are officially back with a vengeance).
Both father and son have their hair up: Faustuz with a man bun and Cedrick with a mini bun/topknot.
-
It’s been unbearably HOT here in California (currently over 100F/38C🥵). Also on “Power Alert”, so a blackout can happen anytime (it’s happened once when I wasn’t home - all the clocks were messed up, lol).
So stay safe: set those thermostats to 78, use fans, stay in the shade or indoors, drink LOTS of water, relax, and keep them masks on if you are outside despite being super hot (i.e. there was a heatwave in Israel early during the pandemic and cases spiked drastically because people stopped wearing masks due to heat; really shows how effective masks are in preventing infections).
If you really can’t breathe while wearing one in the heat, isolate yourself before removing it to catch your breath, then put it back on and seek shelter indoors.
