#inktober #flower pic no.31 - #poinsettia - The birth flower of December, these flowers are also known as “Christmas Star,” “Mexican Flame Leaf,” and “Winter Rose.” It gets it name after the first American ambassador to Mexico who was also a botanist. The Poinsettia became associated with Christmas with a legend of a boy gathering weeds as a humble offering which turned into this colorful flower on Christmas Eve. This flower comes in white, pink, and red, and symbolizes celebration, good cheer, and success. - The second flower featured in this pic is #edelweiss. Edelweiß is a national symbol of Austria, Germany, and Switzerland where this rare beauty can be found. Its name means “noble” and “white,” and symbolizes purity, courage, adventure, devotion, and sacrifice. - I had to make Poinsettia and Edelweiss the last pic for my Inktober prompt because Christmas is coming soon, and these two flowers make me think of winter - though Edelweiss blooms late in summer 🤔 (it’s a fuzzy flower to keep itself warm, so that’s why it makes me think of winter). And we have Hr. Dr. Kasper all dressed up as if he’s attending an award ceremony or a special birthday/holiday dinner with his wife Freyja (his birthday is 23 December). — #inktober2018 #originalcharacter #malecharacter #blondhairblueeyes #glasses #flowers #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pens #kuretake #kuretakebrushpen #kuretakecambio #fountainpen #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #ohtodude #pentel #penteltradio #tradiopen #tradio #autodesksketchbook

#inktober #flower pic no.28 - #meconopsis - An endangered species of flower with a rare sky-blue color with hints of mauve and pink, the Meconopsis is the national flower of Bhutan. It’s native to the Himalayas where it grows in high altitudes in cool weather; like Edelweiss, many seek to find this flower growing in its natural habitat. It is a species of #poppy, which stand for slumber, passion, and remembrance of those who served in the armed forces during war. - Just a simple #drawing with Cedrick. I’m still stuck doing work, so I don’t have much spare time to think up of anything more detailed or meaningful other than color scheme and composition. — #inktober2018 #originalcharacter #malecharacter #blondhair #blue #blueflower #bluepencil #zebramildliner #ohuhumarkers #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier

#inktober #flower pic no.27 - #carnation - One of the world’s most popular flowers, the carnation is a flower of many colors. When freshly cut and put into colored water, it can show that color through its petals. The carnation is believed to be a flower of the gods and a flower linked to the death of Christ and flesh. This flower is the official flower for Mother’s Day, and most given are in shades of pink and red to express love. The carnation is the birth flower of January. - For this pic, it’s Yoko Kasper, Johannes Faustuz’s aunt who raised him with his two older cousins. For Mother’s Day, the Herr Doktor always gives his elderly aunt a handwritten note and carnation to show his appreciation for her despite the two never getting along. — #inktober2018 #originalcharacter #femalecharacter #holdingflower #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pens #pencil #pentel #pentelpen #tradio #brushpen #sharpie #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #whitegelpen

#inktober #flower pic no.26 - #hibiscus - The state flower of Hawaii and national flower of Haiti, this tropical flower comes in red, yellow, pink, purple, and white. They are used in herbal tea and food flavoring, not just as gardening plants. The hibiscus gets it name from an Ancient Greek derived name of a Roman botanist and doctor. This flower symbolizes delicate feminine beauty, fleeting glory and fame, young women, and the qualities of the perfect wife. - With the flower of feminine beauty and wives, it’s Asia and Freyja again. These ladies have grace, beauty, wits, and lots of attitude to share. - This pic was digitally inked and colored with #autodesksketchbook this time. It’s in the grey area whether I think counts for Inktober, but the #digitalink brushwork does resemble actual #ink, so I guess it’s a pass. - 5 more to go~ With some extras too, lol. — #inktober2018 #originalcharacters #femalecharacters #women #redflowers #digitalart #digitalartwork #digitalcoloring #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pencil #mechanicpencil

#originalcharacter 3️⃣: Freyja Ström (middle name is Avis) She fulfills tropes as the hot wife of a nerdy guy, being a hot momma of a teenage son, and being a terrible cook despite being the most kind and loving wife/mother/friend/neighbor there is. Just stay away when she prepares her “Kraken Suppe” if you value your life - both Kasper men bear scars from her signature dish (physical and psychological). - Fun Note: “Ström” translates into many things in Swedish relating to water, air, and electricity such as “Stream,” “Current,” and “Storm.” Also, my grandmother’s maiden name is Ström. So in a way, Freyja is a tribute to my grandma and part of my heritage. (I’m a 1/4 Swede 🇸🇪) - So which character is next? #inktober #flower pic no.23 - #queenanneslace - Named after Queen Anne of Great Britain and her great-grandmother Queen Anne of Denmark, this plant bears tiny flowers that resembles delicate lace. It is also known as #wildcarrot, and the root is edible when young before the plant flowers. But caution must be given when harvesting these plants due to its resemblance to #poisonhemlock. It can be a beneficial plant in attracting wasps and butterflies to crops, but it can be an invasive weed and its sap can cause skin irritations. Queen Anne’s Lace curved shape resembles a bird’s nest, giving its meaning of sanctuary. - It’s Rufus again for this pic (I used him for no.4 Iris earlier), but with his hair combed differently and sporting a beard instead of muttonchops. Pretty obvious why he was picked - he’s British and the name of the flower is from a British monarch. - This pic was a bit finicky making with my white pens not wanting to show up on the black ink at first, but my mood improved when the metallic silver went on smoothly. Overall, I am pleased with how this one came out. 🙂 Eight more to go... — #inktober2018 #originalcharacter #malecharacter #blackshirt #whiteflowers #ink #inkart #inkartwork #penart #penartwork #blackink #pen #pens #pentel #tradio #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #kuretake #kuretakebrushpen #ohuhu #ohuhumarkers #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #blackandwhite

Quick #pensketch in my #leuchtturm1917 while I’m waiting for my car getting new tires before work. Taking a break from Inktober for the iPad Pro this time, and I felt like making something #pink. I could say this is a #pinktober / #pinkwednesday pic, and October is #breastcancerawarenessmonth. So what immediately came to mind? My #originalcharacter Hr. Dr. Kasper the #oncologist wearing pink. Gotta admit - Johannes Faustuz looks great in pink. #inktober #flower pic no.19 - #camellia - Comes in red, pink, and white, these flowers represent the stages of love: ⚪️White is for the adoring love between mother and child. 💕Pink is for longing love as if you’re missing someone. ❤️Red is for desired, passionate love. Camellias are used in funerals, and are given for perfection, excellence, and good luck, especially white ones. Camellia also makes good tea from its leaves. - I used #autodesksketchbook and Facetune to clean up and color this pic in since it got a bit smeared when I was inking the initial pencil drawing.😑 - It’s Freyja bonding with her newborn son Cedrick as she’s recovering from surgery. She wasn’t happy at first when she found out she was expecting a baby boy instead of the baby girl she always imagined she would have to dress up and have follow in her footsteps. But when Faustuz suggested they could be having a little boy that looks just like her, she immediately decided she wanted a son that looks exactly like her husband instead. Once he was born, Freyja was extremely happy to see she got what she wanted - a little boy with the same blond hair and blue eyes like his father. — #inktober2018 #digitalcoloring #ipadproart #inkdrawing #pendrawing #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pentel #pentelpen #tradio #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #whiteflowers #originalcharacters #motherandson #motherson #motherbaby #motherchild #mother #son #baby #babyboy

It’s #nationalbossesday today. If you have an awesome #boss, tell him/her thanks for an awesome job! 👏 - For my #originalcharacters who work at the hospital, the director Docteur Leyon DeValeur is their very enigmatic boss who appears when you least expect it. And when he starts speaking to you in his native French, you know he’s really keeping a close eye on you. Other than that, he’s a very nice guy compared to his protégé Hr. #inktober #flower pic no.17 - #sweetpea - A flower of sweet fragrance and multitudes of colors, it represents gratitude, simple pleasure, enjoyment of one’s company, and farewell. It is also a term of endearment people call their beloved ones. These plants were also used in genetic experiments, providing information about inheritance of physical traits. - It’s Freyja and Johannes Faustuz again, enjoying their time just cuddling together. “Schatzi” is Freyja’s word of endearment for both her husband and son, which sounds a lot like “Sweet Pea”, but from memory I remember it meaning a cute form of “Treasure” (correct me if I’m wrong). — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #inkdrawing #pens #pentel #tradio #kuretake #brushpen #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #pilotpen #fountainpen #blackink #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #blackandwhitedrawing #blackandwhiteart #originalcharacters #couple #cuddling #plant

Haven’t made anything digitally in a while - and the rain is keeping me up (it has been pouring with thunder and lightning in SoCal). - Anyway, it’s the 13th of October and it’s a special day - it’s my #originalcharacter Cedrick’s birthday! 🎉 He was born via emergency c-section, weighing at about 6 lbs (2.7 kg) and measuring a bit more than a foot (33 cm). His birth was damaging on Freyja, which is why he’s an only child; he was also born when Faustuz just started his career as a doctor, making it difficult for him to take care of his newborn son. But a surprise occurs: Freyja’s father Erik decides to make up with his daughter after finding out she had been in the hospital. - It’s not a very good #digitaldrawing, just something quick since I’m still working and I’m tired. — #digitalart #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #autodesksketchbook #fatherson #father #babyboy #originalcharacters

#inktober #flower pic no.14 - #pansy - The flower of remembrance, care, memory, and humility, its name comes from the French word “Pensée” which means “thought”. These flowers come many combinations of colors, and pansies are edible, used in salads and as garnishes. - It’s Vincent-Claude again, this time with a nice dress shirt and with his hair down. It’s pretty obvious why I picked him - the name “Pansy” comes from French, the character is French, and the pansies are tricolored like the French flag. — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #inkdrawing #penart #pendrawing #pentelpen #tradio #pilotpen #fountainpen #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #markers #crayola #crayolamarkers #french #pensé #pensée #tricolor #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter

#inktober #flower pic no.13 - #hydrangea - Named so for its cup-like flowers and need for water to thrive, these flowers come in various shades of blue, purple, pink, red, white, and sometimes yellow-green; the color of the flowers are determined by a combination of environment and genetics, giving them the nickname “Change Rose”. They are one of the most popular ornament flower in gardens, but they are poisonous when eaten in large doses. Hydrangeas represents pride, a sometimes negative trait when it refers to being heartless and selfish; they also stand for heartfelt gratitude and mutual understanding, and are given as gifts for a couple’s 4th wedding anniversary. - Hr. Dr. Kasper is often just called Faustuz after his mother, Sigrid Faustuz. She died giving birth, not long after his father Richard Kasper had died while responding to an outbreak in Africa; this left Faustuz an orphan in the care of his uncle Heinrich and aunt Yoko. According to his aunt, Sigrid was obsessed with hydrangeas; the flower also represents how she and Richard were like - not a very a close or romantic pair, but more like “friends with benefits.” — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #pentelpen #tradio #platinumpreppy #platinumpen #fountainpen #marker #markerarr #crayola #midliner #zebramildliner #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #originalcharacter #femalecharacter

#inktober #flower pic no.12 - #cherryblossom / #sakura - Comes in shades of pink, white, and sometimes red, these flowers are a national symbol of Japan. Similarly to the Morning Glory, they represent mortality but in a more positive light - cherry blossoms symbolize the beautiful journey and fragility of life. They can bloom as early as late January and early February, a welcoming sign for spring to come. - It’s Kimiko Abe, my Japanese #originalcharacter. She’s a bit klutzy, loves cute things and the color pink, and gets easily scared when she encounters unfamiliar things and people. — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #inkdrawing #pens #copicpen #platinumpen #platinumpreppy #markers #crayola #pencilbox #hellokitty #originalcharacterart #femalecharacter

#inktober #flower pic no.10 - #forsythia - This hardy flowering shrub produces bright yellow flowers that bloom in late winter to early spring. This plant produces fruit commonly used in Chinese medicine to reduce inflammation and infection. It is named after a British botanist, and it is a flower that represents anticipation of things to come. - This #originalcharacter is Prince Asher Yang Solar, male counterpart of Princess Celestial Yin Lunar. — #pens #marker #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #inkdrawing #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pentel #tradio #platinumpen #preppypen #sharpie #crayola #mujimarker #malecharacter

#inktober #flower pic no.9 - #lilac - These flowers represent confidence, innocence, and emotions of first love. They commonly come in violet and white, but can also come in pink, yellow, and burgundy. These flowers often bloom in spring to early summer. The wood of this shrub/tree is often used in making carving crafts and instruments. - This #originalcharacter is Princess Celestial Yin Lunar, a character I made way back in about 2003-2004. Her kingdom’s symbol was the lilac flower. She has a male counterpart, Prince Asher Yang Solar, whose symbol is the forsythia flower. — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #inkdrawing #purpleflowers #yin #femalecharacter #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pens #markers #pentel #tradio #kuretake #brushpen #midliners #mujimarkers

#inktober #flower pic no.6 - #iris - These flowers are named after the Greek goddess of rainbows, which is appropriate since they come in many colors from red to black-purple, though the most popular colors are white, blue, violet, and yellow. They represent loyalty and good tidings and news. - Like Cedrick and Vincent-Claude, I had drawn Rufus back in 2006-2007 with a flower. For Rufus, it was an iris, perfect considering his profession is a photojournalist. - I thought about coloring it, but decided to keep it plain and simple. There’s plenty of detail in the #inkdrawing as is, and I put my UK-themed notebook next to the pic because the character is British-Irish. — #inktober2018 #inkart #inkartwork #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pens #pilotpen #fountainpen #pentel #pentelpen #tradio #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #originalcharacterdrawing

#inktober #flower pic no.4 - #sunflower - (I know I messed up the order of my prompt, but whatever, lol) My grandfather always called these flowers “weeds” in his corn fields, but sunflowers can be useful being grown for their seeds and oil. They grow up very tall, are symmetrical in shape, and are very recognizable with their bright yellow petals resembling the sun. According to Hanakotoba (the Japanese art of speaking with flowers), this flower called Himawari represents respect, passionate love, and radiance. - The line art was done with #ink, but I colored it in digitally with #autodesksketchbook using a basic marker brush. - For this pic, it’s a young Johannes Faustuz Kasper wearing traditional clothing with a pretzel in hand. And like a sunflower, he’s simple in appearance, grows up much taller than everyone else around him, and is always reliable whenever he’s needed. — #inktober2018 #inkdrawing #inkart #inkartwork #digitalcoloring #sketchbook #moleskine #moleskinecahier #pilotpen #fountainpen #pentel #pentelpen #tradio #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #child #boy #german #himawari

#inktober #flower pic no.3 - #orchid - These tropical flowers come in so many forms and shapes, from female bees to monkey faces (yes, look it up - it’s no joke). They’re very beautiful but also very delicate and require care. - I’m just cramming in as many of these I can before I get busy with work again; therefore, I’m probably putting a lot of people to shame being able to spew out three out of my #inktober2018 prompt in about a day when many barely are able to make one in a day (Sorry/not sorry, lol). This is a typical #inkdrawing that’s all #blackink, which makes it a bit more plain and simple. #flashbackfriday / #sentimentalsaturday : an old pic from last November - #hospitaldrama with Dr. Tyrone Williams and the younger Hr. Dr. Kasper Cedrick covered in blood. - Fun Note: Cedrick wears mismatched socks and slippers while he’s at work - a bit of an ode to a German saying about putting on one’s slippers before leaving, or in other words, to hurry up (I forgot how it’s said or where exactly I learned it - either a podcast, book, video, or a pen pal). — #digitalart #digitalartwork #digitaldrawing #wacomart #hospitalsetting #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #originalcharacterdrawing

It’s a rough drawing that might get cleaned up and colored - we’ll see. 🤷🏻‍♀️ - The hospital crew together watching their wunderkind try to either beat a boss level in some game, or using a game controller as a remote to fix something technical; either way, it looks intense. - Top Left to Bottom Right: •Leyon DeValuer🇫🇷: hospital director/geneticist •Tyrone Williams🇺🇸: pediatrician •Johannes Faustuz Kasper🇩🇪: oncologist •Kimiko Abe🇯🇵: nurse •Cedrick Kasper🇩🇪: surgeon •Fatima Khan🇵🇰: cardiologist — #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipadprodrawing #ipadprosketch #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #originalcharacters #originalcharacterdrawing
