The Kaspers’ home office at night. ✨ The second page looks like Johannes Faustuz either caught his son Cedrick out past his curfew... or the Herr Doktor is secretly planning how to kill you. - This was a challenging piece to make: the details, coloring, and especially the lighting/shading. But it was also fun adding the items reflecting the family’s side job in dealing with mythical creatures and the occult (the jarred Meerjungfrau, fairy skulls, eyeballs). All three family members are avid readers, and there’s multiple languages featured in their titles (German, Swedish, English, Japanese) as well as various subjects related to their day jobs. There are also heirlooms that shows the Kasper Family have a dark history (alchemy, inquisition, WW2). Kaspers over the ages had always been advisors, scientists, and soldiers willing to serve to obtain and share their knowledge by all means - even if it crosses moral lines. Faustuz and Cedrick know the sins of their ancestors, and the heirlooms are painful reminders to not go down that path for the sake of their work. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #sketchbookautodesk #pixeloop #animestyle #originalcharacter #characterart #malecharacter #man #interior #desk #shelfs #frauv8

Pick your challenge: #dtiys_frauv8 #colorthisin_frauv8 - No deadlines. All entries will be featured as a story highlight. Feel free to look through my account for references. I await to see how you draw/color my OC Cedrick Kasper as a Necromancer Mage. 💀 (sadly, I don’t expect much interest and attention from this) - It’s the Kasper Fantasy Concept this time with Cedrick wearing his skull mask. Every Kasper Necromancer Mage has a skull mask they wear when performing rituals and spells. Cedrick’s mask resembles a goat/ram skull; his father Faustuz’s skull mask is that of a bird while his grandfather Richard/Death’s mask is a horse’s skull. Cedrick’s mask also has a crown indicating that he’s a prince since he’s the child of Princess Freyja and grandson of the Warrior King Erik Ström. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #animestyle #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #blackandwhite #mage #skull #dtiys #frauv8

Cedrick with his older second-cousins Elizabeth Keiko and Evangeline. - Evangeline “Eva” Kasper-Schmitt is Hansel’s oldest daughter, ten years older than Cedrick at age 25; she’s from Hansel’s second marriage to Martha Schmitt, a woman he dumped his first wife Greta Strauss for while in medical school. Eva is a very quiet young woman who has a passion for history and art; she’s very superstitious and religious, often distancing herself from the Kasper Family. She denies being able to see mythical creatures, but push comes to shove, Eva will only help the family by providing historical records of sightings. Eva has her father’s brown eyes and long dirty blonde hair like her mother. - Elizabeth Keiko “Leisa” Kasper-Müller is Hansel’s second daughter from his third marriage to Heidi Müller, another romantic interest he chased after being divorced from his second wife (Heidi ended up divorcing Hansel after an encounter with a headless horseman at the family estate in Kiel, not infidelity like the previous two wives). Leisa is seven years older than Cedrick at age 22. Leisa has heterochromia like Cedrick, but with one hazel-brown eye and the other the normal blue; her hair is a mix of her father’s dark brown and mother’s auburn. Unlike her older half-sister Eva, Leisa is very loud and energetic like their father Hansel; like Eva, she wants nothing to do with their father despite his unconditional love for his daughters. She’s into martial arts and weaponry, and is working as an intern for the Ströms. Leisa is eager to learn more about the Kasper legacy due to recent circumstances, often visiting Los Angeles to extract information from Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick to the point of annoyance. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #digitalsketch #ipaddrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #ipadrodrawing #lineart #animestyle #originalcharacters #characterart #characterdesign #femalecharacters #malecharacter #frauv8_ocs

Circa 1992 when Johannes Faustuz meets his future wife Freyja, a foreign exchange student from Sweden. At age 10, Freyja was a lot taller than Faustuz even though he’s older by six months; this will be the case until they’re 13 when he starts getting much taller than her. - They first formally meet in the library where his aunt Yoko works. Freyja was looking for old English literature books, but noticed several fairies flying around; she follows them to see a boy she recognizes from her class reading a large stack of books on mythical creatures, mythology, biology, and science fiction. Freyja confronts Faustuz about the fairies and books, learning that he’s a Kasper, a family like hers familiar with everything mysterious and mythical. Because of their shared history and interests, the two become very close over the years despite not being able to be together all the time. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #animestyle #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #boy #femalecharacter #girl #children #couple #frauv8_ocs

Papa Ström returns!🧔🏼 - Papa Ström and Cedrick have arrived at Kiel to transport the Yōkai back to California, only to find out Aunt Yoko suddenly wants to keep them. Johannes Faustuz is having a meltdown seeing these two with dueling emotions - fear of his father-in-law, and disappointment towards his son. I should draw the poor guy’s expression for the next page, lol. But again, it’s up to the Yōkai whether they want to stay or not; it’s also been about three days since Garappa laid her egg, so it should be hatching pretty soon. - Erik Ström is one of my favorite OCs: he’s a bad-ass Grandpa with a tough exterior, but melts like butter when it comes to family- especially for his daughter Freyja and grandson Cedrick. Papa Ström is from a long proud line of Viking warriors and weapon makers, making him an expert on what to use in killing mythical creatures gone rouge; he’s still baffled by Freyja’s attraction to Johannes Faustuz Kasper, a descendant of doctors who have a dark secret of experimentation for the sake of knowledge and sharing it with people of power (medieval times they were involved with alchemy; in the 18th century, dissecting of bodies of criminals; in WWII, they provided knowledge of the occult and kept records of experiments). Because of this background, Erik Ström often calls the Herr Doktor a “Quack” and not worthy of his daughter’s love. But he owes Faustuz a lot - he saved Freyja from being married off to his business partner Sigmund, who was actually a mythical creature called Bluebeard disguised as a human (Erik was under the spell of the creature). It’s a possible comic idea, but it’d be a tough one to get done (I’m already having a hard time getting this one wrapped up). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #halftone #mangastyle #animestyle #comic #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacters #frauv8

Hannah (also spelled Hana) is one of the Herr Doktor’s two older cousins; she and her older brother Hansel call him “Fausto” since they don’t like that they’re all named similarly (all three were often nicknamed “Hans”, causing lots of confusion amongst schoolmates). Johannes Faustuz grew up frightened of Hannah for many reasons, from her being the mean older sister figure to feeling her wrath accidentally walking in on her and boyfriend as a little boy. Over the years the two have gotten along better, but Hannah still often pushes her younger cousin around despite his towering height. Hannah also keeps in touch on behalf of his aunt Yoko who feel less close and obliged to maintain a relationship with him since he’s not her biological child. But as the heir of the Kasper’s legacy, Aunt Yoko needs his help in dealing with Yōkai in their home in Kiel. — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #man #blackandwhite #manga #comic #mangastyle #halftone

Hearts and turnips everywhere! - Freyja is finally convinced that it’s not a Skvader in her garden because Mama Wolpertinger is huge (Skvaders to her are supposed to be like small rodents); Baby Wolpertinger also seems to really like Freyja a lot too. Mama Wolpertinger is extremely happy that she and her baby will have enough food for their summer hibernation; for next season, the Kaspers will make sure they have turnips growing in their garden. As for the fairy... Well, there’s one more thing waiting for her. Apparently she’s been punished for being such a bad little sprite. - This was actually fun to draw since it’s all the characters in this story in one pic. The fairy was definitely a fun character to bring back, and she’s most likely to come back again in something else in the future. Next story in mind might actually take place in the fantasy world or go back in time when Freyja and Johannes Faustuz were younger. Different art stages of this pic of Cedrick and Klimt. - It wouldn’t be Cedrick if he doesn’t have something that’s mismatched - this case his socks are opposite colors. His oversized sweatshirt also has the symbol of the black skull, the Kasper family’s emblem in the fantasy concept. - The color scheme has an earthy vibe, so nothing too vibrant aside from the expression notations and text. — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #ipadart #ipaddrawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #lineart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #originalcharacterdrawing #malecharacter #teenageboy #cat #pottedplants #animestyle

Mama Kasper’s wrath has been unleashed, and she’s taking it out on Papa Kasper. But the Herr Doktor has a point - according to research, Skvaders were created as a hunting joke based off of regional mythical creatures. Skvaders also don’t have antlers or horns - Wolpertingers do. - I might make a “Wunderkind Notes” page explaining different horned and/or winged bird-rabbit hybrids. — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #drawing #ipaddrawing #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipadproart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #femalecharacter #malecharacter #woman #man #comic #mangastyle #yellow #grey #gray #white

Another character sheet: Freyja and Vincent-Claude - These two are rarely seen together for many reasons. Aside from not working in the same region in the world and working in different fields of interests, the Herr Doktor does his best to keep Vincent-Claude far away from his wife - Vinnie can be a bit of a womanizer. His latest obsession is Kimiko Abe, trying his best to woo her despite her rejections; but that doesn’t stop him from looking up and flirting with another female at whim. - Vincent-Claude is the son of Dr. Leyon DeValeur, Director of the hospital where the Kaspers work; he also works at the university as an Archeology and Biology professor. He’s not as familiar with the obscure and occult as the Kaspers, but as an Archeologist he’s able to obtain some artifacts if Erik is unable to provide a modern equivalent. - Freyja is a fashion supermodel who also works as a magazine editor and TV show host (think Heidi Klum with “Project Runway”); she’s also the heiress to the Ström Company run by her father Erik, wife to her childhood sweetheart, and mother to a teenage son. Under the facade of all those things, Freyja follows her father’s footsteps in being knowledgeable about mythical weaponry; she joins her husband and son when they need support and backup. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #autodesksketchbook #drawing #ipadproart #ipadprodrawing #ipadart #ipaddrawing #lineart #characters #originalcharacters #malecharacter #man #femalecharacter #woman #charactersheet #characterdesign #characterstudy #frauv8_ocs

More notes from Cedrick regarding mermaid reproduction. Also notice there’s a drawing of a mermaid’s egg and what appears to be weapons to kill a mermaid. - And repeating a disclaimer: I don’t speak German, so if there’s any misspelled words and phrases, correct me for future reference. Taking a small break from the story again. My hand is getting a bit sore...☹️✍🏻 - The first of Cedrick’s notes regarding the mermaid (or “Meerjungfrau” for the Kaspers): “Only a young person pure of mind, body, and soul will be worthy of a mermaid’s bite so that she may regain her lost beauty. Once the mermaid has her beauty restored, the bitten will fall into a deep slumber until the mermaid is slain.” - 90% of the time, Cedrick is doing research and work for his father and others; 5% he actually does VR/AR operations, 4% he plays video games, and the last 1% he eats, sleep, goes to the bathroom, etc. And big disclaimer: I don’t speak much (if any) German, so if there’s any misspelled words and phrases, poke me to correct them for future reference. Glasses off means the Herr Doktor is serious. And there’s a reason why the mermaid is very angry with Tricia, unable to bite her. - The Kaspers come from a long line of doctors who were also secretly taught about the occult, cryptozoology, and other mythical/mysterious creatures and occurrences (why Johannes Faustuz has a preserved creatures like the mermaid and talking fruit flies; it’s also why he and Cedrick can survive Freyja’s “Kracken Surprise” for dinner). So no, this isn’t their first time dealing with a revived mermaid. - Just out of curiosity, which ones do you like better: colored or black and white?
