I don’t want to draw any books for a while…💀
I still love them though.
I have the closeup, original, comic book textured, and uncolored versions posted here.
-
OCs Hr. Dr. Kasper and Tricia Williams doing some research together at the library.
Who knows what they’re talking about…
Maybe he’s telling her about Wikipedia barely being a thing when he was a freshman so he still had to rely on physical encyclopedias and archive cards for information, revealing that he’s actually a Millennial (Tricia had always called him a Boomer since his hair is so light that it looks white, assuming he’s much older than he is).
📝PERSONAL NOTE:
Wikipedia is a great resource to find other documentation for research papers, but not for direct citation (because a lot of articles often have uncertified info); an amazing research resource is EBSCOhost, which was my favorite when I had to write papers.

From the Scrap Pile:
Death Himself (formerly Richard Kasper) keeping a close eye on his son Hr. Dr. Kasper.
(2nd Slide from an old pic drawn over a year ago)
Death keeps his wife Sigrid, brother Heinrich, and other beloved people’s souls over his many lifetimes nearby for company.
Death mostly stays underground communicating telepathically to Grim Reapers, but occasionally he’ll pop up above ground wearing his black robe to personally deliver case files or join in the fight for a little fun.
It took a few years for Johannes Faustuz to figure out that his father was Death all along, making him very spiteful.
Faustuz felt like he was abandoned as a child when Richard couldn’t remain “human” without losing chunks of flesh and coughing out bodily fluids - thus Richard “died” when he finally hid away and left his son with his brother Heinrich and sister-in-law Yoko.

Another #sketchdump :
Sigrid’s former crush Batty Sorensen.
A sketch is missing because it won’t fit within Instagram’s square format (refer to the highlight “SIGRID’S DIARY” to see it).
-
Sigrid was in love with the local arcade owner’s oldest son Sebastian (nicknamed “Batty”).
Batty was 6 years older than her - athletic, stoic, tall, dark-haired, and the beau of the neighborhood (Sigrid wasn’t initially attracted to Richard because he was almost the opposite - Richard was also tall and athletic but fair, blond, wore glasses, outgoing, and much older).
She watched him from a distance behind a wall, often blushing and stammering whenever she tried talking with him; Batty would just shove her aside and called her “an annoying waste of space and time” (he was aware of her life curse and felt he should ignore her to avoid becoming attached).
Batty enrolled into the police academy after graduating high school, leaving Sigrid in limbo about his whereabouts.
Months prior to Richard’s appearance Batty had Sigrid make a bouquet of flowers for him (which she poured her all her love into it); Sigrid’s heart shattered when she heard that he had proposed to an older schoolmate, leaving her bitter and believing she no longer had a chance living out her childhood dream of getting married before her curse takes effect.
When Richard started visiting Sigrid and researching at the local university more often, Batty often confronted him to maintain his status as the “hero of the neighborhood”.
Batty also didn’t like the fact a foreigner was dating the girl once obsessed with him, forcing him to reexamine his true feelings.
After Sigrid’s death, Batty regretted how he treated her when she was alive and wondered how life would’ve been different if he had married her instead (he still hated Richard, carrying over those feelings over to Johannes Faustuz only because he looks like his father).

Hr. Dr. Kasper’s oldest cousin Hansel was born in 1973, also the Year of the Ox.
He’s a hard-working guy with a cheeky and stubborn personality who can also get a bit competitive with his siblings - especially Johannes Faustuz since he was the other boy in the family (he’s brutal with teasing Faustuz - 2nd slide).
Since he’s the oldest, Hansel claims himself to be in charge of the trio and Yoko’s favorite child (Yoko is actually the most frustrated with him, making Hannah the favorite of her two biological children; as for her favorite child, she hates to admit it but it’s Faustuz).
He has terrible luck with women due to his wandering heart and busy work schedule (married and divorced three times with two adult daughters), but still devotes himself for family by all means - even if his exes and children don’t want anything to do with him.
Hansel has been jealous of his cousin Faustuz for many reasons (his height, being married to the same woman for decades, having a son, etc.), but mostly because Faustuz is the future patriarch of the Kasper Family after their grandfather Olafur.
But at the same time he’s supportive and relieved to not be burdened with such a responsibility despite being a natural hardworking man (Hansel doesn’t have “Odin’s Eye” because he doesn’t have blue eyes - he’s half-Japanese).
-
Whenever Faustuz is home at Kiel and working at the local hospital there, Hansel is his nurse - adding more to the family rivalry between the two.

“I love ...”
Oh my...
Who’d knew Hr. Dr. Kasper had such a potty mouth? 🤣
(sorry - I don’t speak German, but as an English-speaker, sometimes I hear things in other languages that makes me go “WHUT?!”)
-
I also included a masked version in the 2nd slide (because we’re still all in a pandemic), the original “Dapper Dads” pic, and a heart cookie (Lebkuchenherz) in the end.

Quick drawing of Hr. Dr. Kasper in traditional Reaper clothing.
(2nd Slide is an old post)
💀 Grim Reaper Notes 💀
As Halloween gets closer, more rogue monsters and lost souls are more abound as the boundaries between the living and dead are weakened due to the waning hours of sunlight, making it a more busy time for Reapers - often times (depending on regional holidays) Reapers may ask for extra help.
When Reapers are relocated outside their country of origin, it’s customary to wear traditional clothing to show that they aren’t native and are only allowed to work under the authority of the regional Reaper family in charge (if they’re back in Kiel where they’re from, the Kaspers wear exclusively modern Reaper clothing; occasionally they wear highly modernized versions of their traditional clothing to accommodate the hot weather in California).
The Kaspers are normally based in Germany/Scandinavia, but due to medical work they are often relocated in Southern California where another Reaper family is based.
The Rodriguez Family are often swamped during Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos, especially with their oldest daughter Granger as their current sole Reaper (Mrs. Rodriguez injured her leg after fighting a rogue jaguar spirit, while second daughter Carmen hates being a Junior Reaper under her sister, often hanging out with BFF Tricia Williams instead); because California used to be Spanish territory, it follows the logic that many countries with Latin/Romance/Slavic-based languages have female Reapers because the word “Death” is feminine and/or their Death goddesses are referred to as female.
Despite Hr. Dr. Kasper having a direct connection with Death Himself and being more experienced as a Reaper, Granger always takes the opportunity to take charge and call him “Juanito” (vaguely translates into “Cute Little Johnny” in Spanish; his first name “Johannes” is an old version of the common name “John”) whenever they work together.

Wunderkind’s Notes:
Grim Reaper☠️
-
I still haven’t featured Granger Rodriguez in a story yet, but she’s a Mexican-American Grim Reaper whose day job is a police officer stationed nearby the hospital where Hr. Dr. Kasper would normally work in Los Angeles.
She’s very territorial, so seeing a foreigner descended from Death’s top Grim Reapers in “her turf” has made her even more competitive and aggressive when collecting souls and hunting rogue creatures.
In the rare occasions the two have to work together, Granger calls Hr. Dr. Kasper “Juanito” as a sarcastic form of endearment (“Juanito” is like the Spanish version of “Johnny-boy”; his first name “Johannes” is an old Scandinavian-Germanic version of “John”).
Like Asia Williams, Granger is a big fan of Freyja Ström’s show and blogs who’s also oblivious to the fact that she’s married to Hr. Dr. Kasper.

Tatzelwurms are not to be messed with - they look cute, but they’re extremely vicious and destructive to both plants and Reapers alike.
They’re drawn to the scent of rare plants and minerals in the earth, causing them to dig them up and burrow nearby to produce large litters.
After countless times getting torn apart and patched up, and Sigrid not very happy about the method of extermination, Richard ponders on creating a repellent to keep Tatzelwurms out of Aina’s backyard.
Included are previous mentions and encounters of the Tatzelwurm (and there might be more to come).

Freyja’s homemade specialty:
Kraken Surprise - Swedish Meatballs, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Lingonberry Gravy, and a Kraken’s Leg.
🦑
Freyja takes pride in making this dish for her husband and son, but her boys hide from fear whenever she makes it (her father Erik enjoys eating his plate with no problems, proving only a Ström can master the Kraken).
-
So what’s the surprise?
It’s either how bad it tastes (Freyja’s not a great cook, and sometimes would add additional food items that would affect taste and texture), or the fact that the kraken legs will stick on like face huggers from “Aliens” (both father and son would harpoon their kraken legs for hours until they stop moving).
Freyja takes offense if anyone at home refuses to eat her specialty dish, therefore she takes extreme measures to make sure her family is “fed properly”.

#sketchdump into the 1980s with Sigrid and Richard.
There was a 4th sketch, but it wasn’t going to fit within IG’s square format - it’s featured in the highlight “SIGRID’S DIARY” for future reference.
• Sigrid’s School Uniform.💼
Sigrid attended an all-girls academy run by nuns, priests, and others familiar with the occult and mythical (it’s a mix of a religious high school with Hogwarts).
Her uniform is basically a collared white shirt, a red necktie, a blue sweater or blazer with her school emblem (a red shield with a white cross), a red plaid skirt, black stockings / knee socks, and a pair of oxfords; Sigrid often wore pink leg warmers and jellies sandals with her uniform to add vibrant splashes of color.
• Off to Tivoli Gardens.🎡🎠
Sigrid lived in Copenhagen where one of the world’s oldest amusement parks resides; it was also the inspiration for the first Disneyland.
Tivoli Gardens was one of their favorite places for late night dates to avoid being easily seen by anyone who didn’t approve of their relationship.
Sigrid’s favorite rides were the Ferris wheel, swings, and carousel - which also happen to be Richard’s least favorite rides (he gets motion sickness riding them).
• Human Anatomy Books.📚
Sigrid loved textbooks - especially ones with illustrations and photos - but her school didn’t have many because the principal wanted to teach the “ancient ways without modern influences”.
Since being acquainted with Richard, she had access to the local university’s library whenever he’s working there.
Sigrid favorite books were on botany, but her curiosity had gotten the best of her in regards to human male anatomy.

Cedrick Kasper in orange.🍊
(funny how I drew him last year with almost the same shade of orange in the background)
-
Cedrick’s attire is highly inspired by K-Pop music videos - which he’s a big fan of (he’s also a huge fan of EDM and Industrial/Goth/Metal Rock music).
Like his mother Freyja, he’s open to wearing anything he finds fashionable and doesn’t mind crossing gender boundaries when it comes to looks (he’s very much a boy otherwise).

They weren’t dating yet, but Sigrid was in love seeing Richard wear formal work clothes for the first time.
She wrote in her diary Richard looked like he stepped out of an Armani advertisement, only in need of a haircut (Armani suits were a big thing in the 1980s).
Her face got so red once from blushing that Richard thought she had a fever; he bought several popsicles to cool her down, but Sigrid gave them all away to the arcade owner’s children nearby.
Sigrid insisted she was fine, just a bit flustered - which only made Richard more worried and try something else to make her feel better.

Johannes Faustuz can never get a break from soul collecting because there’s always something or someone dying nearby.
Like any task, there’s times it gets so busy he can’t keep up and needs help.
Faustuz is also wearing an updated version of his father’s outfit from the 1980s.
-
Grim Reapers and Monster Hunters are becoming more rare as less people are in tune with the spiritual, mythical, and occult world.
And not all souls get collected based on what they are (ie. plant and insect souls are mostly harmless, but animal and human souls - especially those who died suddenly and violently - are extremely dangerous and prone to transforming into monsters that harm the living).
Luckily most souls like to gather together and often like to float around the closest Grim Reaper wanting to move on.
But there are creatures that like to chase or devour them (cats can be a Grim Reapers biggest annoyance because they not only had multiple lives but also chase souls as if they’re yarn balls).

It’s back to the 1980s, this time with Richard and a baby Johannes Faustuz.
As an adult, Faustuz hates it when people (especially his father-in-law Erik) only focus on how much he looks and sounds just like his father Richard.
Personality-wise Faustuz is more like his mother Sigrid (quiet, sarcastic, and introverted with a bit of sass and crude language), which was often brought up by his grandmother Aina whenever he visited her.
