During Richard’s three months-long trip to Greece hunting a rogue Manticore, Sigrid grew lonely and was realizing how much she actually liked him. The longer he was gone, her heart yearned to hear his voice singing and look deep into his odd-colored eyes; this triggered lovesickness in Richard. By the time he returned to Denmark to visit Sigrid, Richard was so feverish from lovesickness that he passed out within minutes entering the flower shop. Aina instructed Sigrid to take care of Richard as they carried him into her room and placed him on her bed, telling her to cool him down as quickly as possible to lower his temperature, and to avoid the instant cure for a man’s lovesickness: “the sweet nectar of a maiden’s bud”.
Sigrid was immediately panicked and embarrassed as she was left alone with him, trying her best to cool his face with rags drenched with iced rubbing alcohol and pulling off all his clothing. She felt extremely guilty seeing Richard suffering from her true emotions for him, and against her mother’s advice, wanted to figure out the instant cure for his lovesickness. Sigrid asked Richard if he understood what Aina meant; in between gasps and coughs he explained, and told her to only do it if she absolutely wants to – not because she feels she needs to, and that he can eventually recover after several weeks (he also never done such an act on any of his previous lovers). Sigrid gave her consent, admitting her feelings for Richard as they slowly begin the intimate act. The pair quickly became passionate as they continued throughout the entire night, so much so that Sigrid thought it was all a dream until she finally woke up with a fully recovered and appreciative Richard embracing her – followed by an upset mother walking in (Aina was not happy Sigrid letting Richard deflower her before marriage, but was relieved that her daughter finally decided to pair up with the man she wanted for her). Ever since that night Sigrid and Richard were inseparable, going out on late-night dates and sleeping together either in her bedroom or his hotel room away from the eyes of classmates, teachers, colleagues, and neighbors during the daytime.
