Hans, Hans, and Hans
- Hansel, Hannah, and Johannes.
-
All three Kasper children had the same nickname growing up (which they hated), but their parents thought it would be cute.
Initially Hansel and Hannah weren’t close knit with Johannes Faustuz since he’s so much younger; the siblings got even more quarrelsome when their cousin was adopted after Richard’s death.
The older siblings constantly excluded the youngest, often picking at him and seeing him as the reason why their beloved aunt Sigrid died.
Johannes Faustuz would try everything to fit in by speaking Japanese (his aunt Yoko is Japanese, and she spoke Japanese exclusively to her children), dumping black ink into his almost white hair to look like them, and try dabbling in their interests (sports and cooking) in case they need help with something.
But after Heinrich’s death, the three began to bond by sharing memories.
Hansel and Hannah also realized how much Johannes Faustuz acts a lot like their aunt and uncle, and began randomly hugging their younger cousin due to his physical resemblance to their father.
-
Prior to the pandemic, all three would spend time together looking over photos and singing karaoke; nowadays, they have sporadic Zoom meetings whenever Hansel isn’t busy being a nurse, Hannah isn’t dealing with nonstop takeout orders, and/or Johannes Faustuz isn’t teaching or reaping.

It’s Groundhog Day!🦫
It’s also Sigrid’s birthday, making her a quirky Aquarius.
♒️
Sigrid’s nerdy, loves arcade games, a little tomboyish, grows flowers and makes potions with her mother, and rebellious having a boyfriend against school rules.

Quick random drawing of Richard and Sigrid... ✍🏻
-
Kinda feel a bit bad ending “Sigrid’s Diary” abruptly, but there isn’t more to the story after that point (Sigrid couldn’t write another entry and died).
There’s the possibility of dropping out random entries/snapshots between February 1979 and December 1981, maybe a few from Richard’s point of view (though the way he writes entries in his journals are more like daily logs for data purposes), or maybe even focus on the two years Richard raised Johannes Faustuz or other points in his childhood (like how Faustuz met Freyja, visiting his grandmother Aina, etc.).
-
I really don’t have any plans for 2021’s art, and I don’t plan to draw as much - “quality over quantity” is the goal, but I won’t be surprised if I end up with more scribbly pics like this one.🙃

Finally got it done!
@not_hrstrom done in 9 different cartoon art styles, and this was a very timely project - especially not being used to drawing and coloring in these art styles.
(swipe right for a closer look of each version of Hr. Dr. Kasper)

Which art style is your favorite?

(I might make a full-body version of the one that gets the most likes)

Can’t say “Get a room!” when they’re already in their room, lol (they’re just waking up for the day).
-
Another look inside the Kaspers’ bedroom (original in 3rd slide).
They try to keep all the pets and mythical critters out, but too many times they hide in a hamper basket or under the bed (or in Frl. Flicka’s case, she begs and whines to stay, often sleeping in the bed with them).

Hannah grew up close to her older brother Hansel since both were close in age; the same cannot be said with Hr. Dr. Kasper, whom she always thought of as an annoyance since he replaced her spot in the family as the youngest (she also wasn’t happy when her uncle Richard spent less time with her - especially when Sigrid was around, and after Faustuz was born).
Hannah was known as the “Problem Child” in her teenage years, often running away from home with various boyfriends to avoid her mother and younger cousin; but since her father Heinrich’s death, Hannah managed to change her behavior and ambitions in life by becoming a chef and “Critter-Employer” (she has a Kobold working with her in the kitchen, and a Tomte tending her vegetable garden).
Hannah still picks on her cousin, but like Hansel, has begun to enjoy his presence now that Faustuz is much older and resembles the man all three adored as children.

Hr. Dr. Kasper’s oldest cousin, son of Heinrich and Yoko.
He’s very much like his uncle Richard chasing after women, only to end up with heartache mainly because he can’t stay faithful and committed to anything or anyone (Richard was also his idol as a child, being the “cool fun uncle”).
Like his sister Hannah, Hansel never fully bonded with Faustuz growing up due to their large age gaps; growing older, on the other hand, he enjoys his time with his cousin, especially when Faustuz physically resembles the man they looked up to as children.

Heinrich is Richard’s chain smoking older brother, the former heir of the Kasper Family.
Heinrich forfeited his title as heir when he married a woman not approved by the head of the family, passing it down to his brother and causing a strain to their relationship as close siblings.
He also didn’t like his brother’s promiscuous behavior with women over the years; Richard’s relationship with a teenage girl was not an improvement, but Heinrich did eventually warmed up to Sigrid with his wife and children adoring her and himself enjoying playing chess with her (often loosing).
After his brother’s unexpected death, Heinrich felt he should take care of his infant nephew Johannes Faustuz and raised him until his own death ten years later from lung cancer.

Sigrid is the young Danish schoolgirl under Death’s watch thru the odd-eyed grim reaper Richard Kasper.
Sigrid wasn’t initially impressed with Richard’s advances, especially knowing his reputation as a playboy, being much older than her, and coming from a family infamous for their involvement with dark historical moments; but over time with his frequent visits, Sigrid grew more comfortable and attached to her unusual suitor, agreeing to marry him after curing his bout of lovesickness.
The pair were unpopular in the sight of many with people assuming that Richard was taking advantage of the teenage girl, but the two were inseparable and deeply in love.
Sigrid barely lived long enough to give birth to their son Johannes on 23 December 1981, before Death decided that it was time to collect her soul; Richard was left behind inconsolable and falling seriously ill before he eventually died two years later to join her (this is why Johannes Faustuz hates the holiday season, often spending the whole week locked up alone in his room in silence).

Quick drawing and color palette play of Richard and Sigrid.
-
Richard was often surprised by Sigrid’s hugs from behind when he was about to leave her mother Aina’s flower shop; it’s not usual for Sigrid to cling onto Richard with her stubborn aloofness, but with Richard having more constant trips abroad and being away for weeks to months at a time, Sigrid couldn’t help become more attached to her suitor.
This was the seed of his lovesickness, feeling even more guilt watching Sigrid in Death’s behalf and falling in love with a girl so much younger than him.

2nd slide are the same characters from 2018 using the same art app.
I guess they look better now?

Another random quick outfit/pose drawing of this guy...
Wasn’t sure which expression to do, so I included both.
I’m still trying to figure out something more elaborate to draw for the season, but with work and feeling depressed about the state of where I live in comparison to other places in the world, it’s getting harder to look forward to making new things (and my birthday is coming up: it’s on Christmas Eve and 2020 is my “Jesus year” - more reason to hate this year).
