The Life Curse threatened her before her 20th birthday. A little practice after almost 2 years being tortured by Duolingo - and I still think I’m no good.🥲 … Well, I’m actually doing good reading German and French, though spelling words without a Wörterbuch is a NIGHTMARE. 💀 Listening is a little hit-‘n-miss, but I’m able to understand some phrases without looking at the subtitles on Netflix. Each language has their quirk and frustrations (i.e. FRENCH with their stupid silent letters, GERMAN with split verbs and 3 “Genders”), but sometimes I’m having fun and blaze through my lessons with ease. (And for anyone wondering, yes I still write most of my notes in cursive - or what some jokingly call “Doctor Writings” because so many can’t read cursive at all these days and it looks a lot like a handwritten doctor’s prescription) - In Sigrid’s pic, some of her labels have Danish in red underneath the German showing how very similar those words are (makes sense since Denmark and Germany are right next to each other). My pics are also cutoff in order to fit the 4:5 ratio, so not everything is in frame (original format for both are 2:3). I had a lot of fun with each color scheme, one being warm and the other cool in tone (the pics are also complementary to each other). Swipe to the right to see the photorealistic and full body versions of Johannes and IRL clothing items that inspired his outfit. - I had a few people ask me how I made the realistic versions of my OCs; they’re made by “Frankenstein-ing” various photos of faces and clothing via SKETCHBOOK or PHOTOSHOP - then using apps like FACEAPP and PREQUEL to clean things up. So my method isn’t quite 100% using AI - it’s a lot of work by me stitching, painting, and composting the character and then using AI and various apps to enhance and clean up for the final image (in other words, it’s still a lot of work by me the human). - As for this guy, he’s all dressed up for his other day job as a Substitute University Professor. Normally Johannes wears scrubs and crocs or wrinkled collared shirts, khaki pants, and loafers whenever he’s working at the hospital as Surgical Oncologist for simplicity and practicality (he also prefers to wear minimal amount of clothing for comfort); but when he first started teaching, students had called him a “Slob” when he showed up in his usual attire with a white lab coat on top. Johannes takes offense being called a Slob when he’s known for his impeccable attention to detail and clean, efficient methods on the operating table; ever since whenever he’s subbing for his colleague Vinnie, Johannes puts a lot of effort into his outfits. It’s something I just learned myself - parts of Medieval Europe really did think butterflies were witches in disguise out to steal the milk and cream people worked hard to get from their cows (thus one big reason why butterflies are called butterflies, or “Schmetterling” in German meaning “little cream thing”). Went a little bit crazy drawing clothes on OCs again, this time with all 4 Kasper Grim Reapers together in normal human form. Our main 3 Kaspers (Cedrick, Johannes, & Richard) are what many in the western world traditionally think of Grim Reapers wielding scythes and have skeletal forms (Heinrich was a Grim Reaper before giving up his title and role as heir of the Kasper Family; he briefly reprised his duty as one while raising Johannes when Richard had to return to his true identity as Death indefinitely). Hansel is a special case - normally a Kasper has to have “Odin’s Eye” to become a Reaper (Heterochromia with the ability to see everything living and dead as well as vitals simultaneously), but through his mother’s side Hansel is distantly descended from a line of Jeoseung Saja (Korean Grim Reapers) and deals with souls in a different manner via talismans and chants (Hansel is Japanese/Korean and German/Danish). Richard is drawn much older here (80-85 years old) due to him adjusting his “human age” had he still remained “alive” whenever he’s briefly summoned back to the living world; the youngest age he can return as human is when he “died”, which happens to be about the same as his son Johannes’ current physical age (it’s similar for Sigrid’s soul if transformed into a Genganger - she can only be physically the age when she died). As members of the occult community, the Kaspers can live for centuries using inherited magic.
