At the arcade with Sigrid Faustus and Richard Kasper in 1980.
-
Sigrid gets very competitive with her games and doesn’t take defeat well. Richard learned the hard way when he beat her high score on “Space Invaders”, suffering a lot of verbal abuse when she saw her score no longer on the top of the screen of her favorite machine. Since then, he mostly stands back and watches her play, providing coins if her time is almost up for another round. But in the rare occasion he does play a game and beats her high score again, Richard is quick to cool Sigrid’s anger with some ice cream afterwards.
-
Richard and Sigrid had a large age gap between them (a little over 7 years, which wasn’t unusual in the past), but him being 23 and her aged 16 made people question their relationship as a couple (even Hr. Dr. Kasper gets uncomfortable talking about his parents, especially his mother being only a teenager when she had him).
Richard did immediately fell in love with Sigrid at first sight (he can’t resist pretty girls), but was hesitant about her age until he saw the number of years she had left to live and got permission from her mother to woo her. Sigrid was initially weirded out by her foreign suitor and knew of his playboy behavior, wanting nothing to do with him. But over time, she became more intrigued and attracted to him, especially with his random and unique gifts for her.
After spending a night together, Sigrid knew Richard wanted to give her the best quality of life. Sigrid was set on fulfilling many goals, from traveling to other countries, getting married, eating exotic foods, playing new games, and having a child.
Richard was completely devoted to her, more so when she was expecting their son by the end of 1981; understandably he was inconsolable when Death finally claimed her after giving birth. Within a year, he died from illness while working abroad in Africa, leaving his infant son Johannes Faustuz with extended family in Kiel.
