One of my favorite kind of drawings for OCs:
The whole family all dressed up and color coordinated - which means it doesn’t matter how they’re arranged because they’ll match! 😍
Comment below which arrangement of 3 is your favorite:
• 3: Johannes Faustuz, Freyja, Cedrick (Kasper Family)
• 4: Erik, Cedrick, Johannes Faustuz (“Freyja’s Boys”)
• 5: Cedrick, Freyja, Erik (Ström side of the family)
-
Also, Johannes Faustuz is wearing a 1980s inspired blue suit with a white-collared blue pinstriped shirt and pink necktie like his father Richard (6: last slide).

Another #sketchdump…
🖊
About each drawing:
• Freyja loves using her husband’s glasses as a fashion accessory.
That’s why Johannes Faustuz has so many styles and pairs of them - and because he has so many, he always has a spare pair to see (his right green eye is nearly blind unless it’s activated).
• Faustuz doesn’t like buying new clothes if it’s avoidable, especially for expensive items (he rather spend the money for a date night with Freyja or on treats for the many creatures the family has at home).
Luckily he inherited some stuff from his father Richard that he actually likes to wear, such as watches, rings, and suits (Richard bought a few Armani suits in the 1980s to impress Sigrid).
• Freyja and Faustuz are notorious for staying out late after their dinner dates (for obvious reasons - mainly to get time away from work and their son Cedrick), often upsetting Erik when they finally get home around dawn (he’s always going to be a protective father for his daughter no matter how old she is).

Something drawn earlier this month but been sitting in a digital folder for a while because meh…
I also included closeups of the plaid - it’s no secret that I love drawing patterns on clothes, lol.
I’ve just not been excited drawing lately - I feel like an uninspired slob…
But I’ve been on Duolingo lately to feel productive with my spare time, and I have quite a bit to rant about with some of the things I’ve learned (seriously - “der Mann” [Man] is masculine, “der Junge” [Boy] is also masculine; “die Frau” [Woman] is feminine, so you’d think the German word for “Girl” would also be feminine. NO! It’s “das Mädchen” which is neutral! WTF! And funny I bring that up because this pic literally has a girl in it, lol)

Freyja Ström resembling a beating human heart.🫀
Her pearl necklace looks like as if she’s been cut, and she wields a Viking dagger in her hand.
-
With Freyja dressed like a muscle and Hr. Dr. Kasper a Grim Reaper, one can say she’s the flesh to her husband’s bones.💀

It’s June, so it’s time to let all the bright colors out! 🌈
-
This time Freyja is paired up with her favorite cousin Einar who loves fashion just as much as she does (if not more); they’re often mistaken as brother/sister siblings because they have similar physical features and share the same last name.
The two grew up together playing with dolls and dress-up, and as adults they still have fun wearing flashy outfits whenever they hang out.
Einar is often featured on Freyja’s TV show “FLASH FASHION” as a guest judge, and he portrays himself as a “sassy bitch who’s hard to please”.
Freyja does get annoyed with her cousin whenever he playfully flirts with her husband, but Einar enjoys doing so just to tease her (Hr. Dr. Kasper just smiles and plays along, often replying “Sorry Darling - Freyja found me first”).

Random sketch dump with Richard, Sigrid, and the stray neighborhood tomcat nicknamed Odin after “Odin’s Eye”, the Kaspers’ heterochromia ability to see spirits and monsters.
-
Odin is a white tomcat with odd-eyes who’d constantly meow and yowl late at night to attract the ladies.
Lately he hasn’t been roaming around as much due to his age, and has been staying over at Aina’s backyard where Hedy enjoys sleeping in the greenhouse; the two cats had been inseparable until Odin’s death a year later, resulting in three litters of kittens.
Like Hedy, Odin was very affectionate - especially towards Sigrid.
Richard doesn’t like cats (Grim Reapers hate cats for their 9 lives and chasing away dead souls that need capturing), but has a soft spot for Odin due to their many similarities and the fact Odin’s on his last life out of nine.

#sketchdump of three generations of Kaspers drinking coffee and tea.
☕️
Hr. Dr. Kasper doesn’t have any warm feelings for his father Richard (for lots of reasons), often getting upset whenever someone mentions him and how much he’s like his father; on the other hand, Johannes Faustuz gets emotional to the point of tears whenever someone talks about his mother Sigrid.
He’s been ashamed of the fact that he’s the child of a man who was a playboy, called a “Quack”, and married a teenage girl (large age gaps were much more common back then).
But after reading his mother’s diary, listening to stories from his grandmother Aina and father-in-law Erik, and finding tapes Richard recorded before his death, Faustuz has slowly become more understanding of who his father really was.
-
Cedrick knows very little about his grandfather, but has been told he’s just as much of a jokester like Richard when he was a boy by Tante Yoko.

Another Richard and Sigrid #sketchdump.
—
Poor Richard had his clothes removed and taken away every time he’s done killing Tatzelwurms in the backyard - Aina got fed up cleaning the blood dripping onto her rugs and would rather wash his clothes instead.
Aina did her best to get Richard’s clothes done before Sigrid gets home from school, but occasionally Sigrid had no choice but to deal with a naked Grim Reaper/Monster Hunter locked up in her bathroom.
Sigrid was initially upset and embarrassed (especially if she actually needed to use toilet or shower), but over time - and especially when they were officially a couple - she would enjoy teasing him.
-
There’s also a glimpse of Richard suffering from Lovesickness (mainly caused by expressing nonstop affection and getting constant rejection over a long period of time), the first symptoms being high fever and extreme fatigue.

Freyja with her father Erik.
-
Papa Ström has always been a doting father to his daughter, especially since her mother’s death and setting her up to be the family’s business successor despite being a girl.
He’s very proud of his daughter’s many accomplishments, but still questions her choice to marry a “low-class quack” Kasper.
If he’s not busy with his shipping company, he’s developing weapons to defeat monsters with his daughter and four nephews.
-
Freyja adores her father, but at times does challenges him whenever she feels he’s being too “old-fashioned” and threatened by new technology.
She also doesn’t like when Erik tries to belittle and starts fights with her husband Johannes Faustuz just to prove himself as the “alpha man of the family” (her four cousins, on the other hand, are deathly afraid of her husband after seeing him kill a rouge gnome with his bare hands; they’re also intimidated by Faustuz’s height and encyclopedic knowledge).
Freyja often has to remind her father that she loves him no matter what - he’s just no longer her No.1 man in her life.

Emperor Kuzco.
Giving some thought, he’s technically a Disney Prince without a romantic interest in the movie (in the TV show, he had a crush named Melina; used to watch it as a kid).
“Emperor’s New Groove” is still one of my all-time favorite Disney films, and it can play on repeat nonstop in the background while I draw.
-
Since we’re in an eternal quarantine/pajama party, which Disney Prince/Princess should I draw next?

Something I drew two years ago - three teenage OCs Cedrick Kasper, Tricia Williams, and Carmen Rodriguez.
I forget how a lot of my old pics had vibrant colors.
I need to try drawing more pics with this kind of color scheme and clean line art again - but with a lot more pop and pow to it.
I’ve been way too lazy…😭
-
I also try to keep my cast of characters diverse (especially younger ones like these three), but I still occasionally get a bit nervous about drawing certain ethnic groups because of past experiences.
When I was getting more serious about my art as a young teenager, I had peers first complain that I draw only Anime and White people; so when I started drawing other ethnicities as well, the same people then said “You’re not Black or Hispanic - you shouldn’t draw what you ain’t!”
•Me [I’m White/Asian]: “Then WTF am I supposed to draw?! Of course I’m going to mostly draw White people because that’s how I was raised and treated as! I draw Anime because I grew up watching it and it’s one of the mainstream Asian products I had access to! And of course I’m not Black or Hispanic, but those groups exist too!”🤦🏻♀️
Ugh… Seriously…
I’m scarred for life because of crap like that, but now I just draw whatever I feel comfortable with, and if it looks better using a character with a different ethnicity, then so be it.
(Nowadays I’m probably not inclusive enough - comment below your opinions)
And that’s my advice to anyone who wants to be an artist - draw anyone and everything to be more diverse and inclusive.
If anyone gives you hell about it, say “Fine - I’ll draw everyone else but you” (seriously - don’t say that out loud because it’s really mean and implies that they don’t deserve to exist, but we’re at a point society doesn’t need people who still think others should be separated and excluded just because of physical and cultural differences; it’s why the world is such a mess in the first place).
Phew!

Something from the “Scrap Pile”:
Sigrid’s Diary: 30 June 1980, the start of a long Summer of love.
-
Richard and Sigrid were officially a couple for several months at this point, but they tried to kept their relationship secret mainly because Sigrid attended an all-girls academy that prohibits dating (people were also wary of Richard constantly staying in a house where a single mother and her daughter lived in).
This was the longest time Richard stayed with Sigrid and her mother Aina after traveling, which was a great help with hundreds of plants growing in the greenhouse and a large litter of Tatzelwurms trying to invade the backyard again.
Richard also spent a lot of time trying to develop new medicine for his patients abroad using Aina’s rare plants - many resulting in failure or being too potent (he actually made a Tatzelwurm repellent that lasted a few days, the base his son Johannes Faustuz would use to make finally one that lasted indefinitely).
Sigrid and Richard spent each night of July and August either stargazing in the backyard with the cats Hedy and Odin, walking around the empty streets holding hands, watching movies/TV shows, singing and dancing along with the radio and old Disco records (Death’s favorite music is Disco), sleeping together in her bedroom, or playing the latest video games at the arcade (where classmates randomly saw Sigrid being romantic with Richard).
Richard eventually went back to Kiel in September, promising Sigrid he’ll be back as soon as he finishes work at his office.
But within a week, he rushed back to Copenhagen after hearing news of Sigrid’s expulsion from school.

Johannes Faustuz wearing Richard’s fur coat as a cape on top of the expensive clothes Freyja dressed him up with (reference for shirt in last slide).
-
Like his mother Sigrid, Faustuz never really liked his father’s coat - it’s ridiculously heavy, fluffy, and oversized (Sigrid did admit that she loved how warm it was whenever Richard held her during walks in the winter).
It’s one of the many things he inherited from his father - aside from daily journals, tape recordings, photos, vinyl albums, t-shirts, watches, and his 1981 red Volkswagen Beetle.
But in rare occasions, he will wear the coat to “put it to use”; Richard wore it to show off whenever he could, while his son wears it to cover up the elaborate stuff Freyja makes him wear in formal events.
