Sigrid and Richard on their way back to her mother’s flower shop after a long chase around the neighborhood.
—
Sigrid would often be bullied and attacked by classmates on her way back home from school or the arcade, returning with cuts, scrapes, bruises, and broken glasses.
Aina was constantly worried with a jar of healing ointment ready to treat her daughter’s wounds, hoping for a way to keep Sigrid safe; since Richard’s appearance, Aina insisted that he walk Sigrid home to deter further attacks.
-
Sigrid didn’t like Richard following her around (despite secretly crushing on him), so she’d jog or ride her bike far ahead of him - only to have Richard panicked, chasing and yelling at her (which also kept the bullies away, watching in confusion); Sigrid really enjoyed watching Richard running after her, especially when he’s wearing ridiculous athletic wear (it was the late 70s / early 80s, so men wore short shorts and cropped tops).
But after an earful scolding from Aina, Sigrid reluctantly gives up the chase and lets Richard to escort her home safely - which quickly becomes her favorite time of the day since she can talk about school, video games, and new plants growing in her mother’s greenhouse.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these challenges.
It took all day to make it, but it seems like I probably could’ve worked on it some more.
Let me know what you think in a comment below.🤗

Finally got it done!
@not_hrstrom done in 9 different cartoon art styles, and this was a very timely project - especially not being used to drawing and coloring in these art styles.
(swipe right for a closer look of each version of Hr. Dr. Kasper)

Which art style is your favorite?
Comment below!🤗
(I might make a full-body version of the one that gets the most likes)

July 1981: Richard in doctor-mode, not very happy with Sigrid’s cravings for ice cream cones.🍦
(he might also be a bit jealous she can eat so much of it without stomachaches - Kaspers with heterochromia are lactose intolerant despite being from the land of the Holstein cow)
-
With anemia and not gaining enough weight, Richard is extremely concerned about Sigrid and their baby’s health.
Now living in Kiel, Sigrid is constantly monitored by family members while Richard is working at the hospital and with house calls nearby (he’s still treating Sonja Ström in Stockholm).

Can’t say “Get a room!” when they’re already in their room, lol (they’re just waking up for the day).
-
Another look inside the Kaspers’ bedroom (original in 3rd slide).
They try to keep all the pets and mythical critters out, but too many times they hide in a hamper basket or under the bed (or in Frl. Flicka’s case, she begs and whines to stay, often sleeping in the bed with them).

Sigrid is not amused having a Grim Reaper watching over her as she walks home from school in Copenhagen - especially this one.
(Richard can be a bit of a creep because he’s much older and taller than Sigrid)
-
As a teenage girl with less than two years to live, Death decided to have a little mercy on Sigrid by sending Richard from Kiel to “observe her” until her time is up (Death also thought it’d be fun to play with the heart of one of his top reapers just because he can).
For her mother Aina, it was a huge relief because Sigrid had been attacked by bullies from school; Sigrid’s history teacher (and neighbor) also had been showing a strong interest in her aside from her academics, often stopping by the flower shop trying to convince Aina that Sigrid needs “extra lessons” (she knows better).
Aina also took an instant liking to Richard, knowing despite his past as a playboy and being the younger of 2 sons of one of the deadliest killers of both humans and mythical creatures, he has a good heart and that Kaspers are very serious about taking care of family and loved ones.
Richard initially was reluctant with dealing with a girl so young, having pity on her (as well as falling in love, knowing he could be in serious trouble being with a girl over 8 years younger than he is); with Aina’s blessing, Richard made it his goal to take care Sigrid by all means - even if he has to extract souls and give up his own life.

Richard not feeling well with lovesickness, recovering in Sigrid’s bed.
Sigrid was worried that her cold attitude towards Richard was the cause of his lovesickness, afraid he was going to die because of her (Richard pitied her and became so attached, wanting to treat her with the best care before Death collects her soul himself).
Aina told her there’s a cure, requiring “the sweet nectar of a maiden’s bud” - but it’s something Sigrid hasn’t fully understand yet being sheltered and expected to die within two years.

Hr. Dr. Kasper’s no-nonsense, hard-as-nails mother-figure Tante Yoko.
She may be tiny compared to her husband, two children, and nephew, but they all give her respect as the matriarch of the Kasper Family.

Kinda Page 8?
There should technically be another page or two before this, but I’ve been wanting to draw Cedrick on the Kasper Family’s errand bike for a while.😛
I should really rewind a bit and get back to the Chickcarney and Queenie now...
-
Cedrick was called from the Kaspers’ home located elsewhere around Los Angeles, not too far away from the Williamses (about 5-10 miles).
Of the Kaspers’ three bikes, it’s the pink one that has the hardware needed for shopping and transporting goods (the other two are for biking trails).
Both Hr. Dr. Kasper and Cedrick try to avoid the pink bike for obvious reasons (they get snickers and second looks from passerby’s), but with Freyja being the only female in the family and in charge of the family resources, they quickly swallow their pride for the sake of getting errands done.

Couldn’t quite decide what to do with this pic, so here’s a bunch of different variations.
-
Another intimate moment with Richard and Sigrid.
After officially becoming a couple, Richard would often visit and stay over at Aina’s flower shop/house in Sigrid’s room after weekly trips abroad, especially if he was too tired to make it to his extended family’s hotel.
He was always looking forward to spending nights with her for obvious reasons, but his biggest concern was to enjoy every moment they can be together with Sigrid nearing the end of her life from her father’s curse.

The Mamas officially meet!
Asia is a super fan of Freyja’s TV show “FLASH FASHION”, always wanting to be a contestant in a challenge.
The Pandemic put a halt to that idea, but Freyja hasn’t forgotten her husband mentioning about a fan who happens to be his friend’s wife.
Freyja is also curious about the Chickcarney, and Freyja has a soft spot for creatures - especially fluffy ones.

Cedrick’s notes on the “Chickcarney” (also spelled #chickcarnie and #chickcarnee).
“
The (Andros) Chickcarney:
An owl-cat-like creature from the Andros region of the Bahamas that dwells in pine trees.
Usually harmless, they are viewed as good luck to travelers.
If treated poorly, a Chickcarney will place a curse on the entire family.

I thought I was done drawing this guy outfits!
😫
I’m sorry for not posting as much/as often due to burnout and feeling like a mindless zombie after work.
I’m trying to start another short story with my OCs, but it’s so hard to get going and focused with a brain that’s turning into mush in this stressful environment called America (I live in California where it’s not skyrocketing cases, but even so, I feel like people aren’t taking things seriously with the pandemic).
—
There’s a reason why Johannes Faustuz doesn’t like growing out a beard, but there’s times it can’t be helped.
When he has one, he strongly resembles a certain someone who he doesn’t like and doesn’t like him in return (it’s actually how he got his Instagram username 🧔🏼).
Many assume he’s “Hr./Mr. Ström” being Freyja’s elusive husband, but that title belongs to Freyja’s father Erik; because of people’s quick assumptions about him, the Ström Family gave him the pseudonym “Jonah Fritz Ström” to use in public and media events while he uses his own name when practicing medicine or teaching (and not looking as glamorous in what Freyja dresses him up with).

Idk if I’m getting better or worse with my art, lol.
I know for sure that I’m getting really tired and lazy, and work has been taking a toll on me (I got mask-ne, hair loss, lack of sleep, and I’m suspecting that I’ve been grinding my teeth while I’m sleeping; I ordered mouth-guards and a twin-sized weighted blanket to hopefully help me cope with my stress).
The background is based off the photo of Starbucks in the last slide (found it online via Pinterest, not mine).
Both father’s and son’s outfits are based off of real ones (also included in slides).
The Kaspers currently live in Los Angeles since they can’t go back to either Kiel or Stockholm due to European travel bans.
Even though they can’t go far from their house, California has a lot to offer to do while quarantining.
One of their favorite things to do is just walk around for hours to see the sights and enjoy whatever food is available (otherwise, they stay home fighting over TV and video games whenever Papa Kasper isn’t teaching on Zoom).

An experiment to see how basic and simple I can digitally ink and color a pic; turned out really nice, so I might make another one.
Thought about making it look like it was drawn on lined paper, but it was too distracting.
At least I did it to the line art without color to make it look like it was doodled on lined paper.

Day 20:
Underwear 1
•Boxers
-
With the ridiculous heat in California for the last few weeks, Johannes Faustuz has been seen in his underwear more often just to stay cool at home.
His father-in-law Erik Ström doesn’t like running the AC 24/7 just to save electricity and money; also, Erik is actually enjoying the heat compared to freezing up in Sweden, making the house feel like a sauna.
One would also think Freyja would love seeing her husband hardly wearing anything during quarantine at home, but she thinks it’s absolutely inappropriate to not have a planned outfit for the day regardless of the lax social norms and unbearable heat; not even a tank-top and pair of sweatpants can save him from the earful he’s about to get from her - it has to be a “proper outfit “.

Day 19:
•Bathrobe
•Pink Bunny Slippers
-
Unless there’s an extreme medical emergency or random rogue monster attack forcing him out of the shower, only his wife Freyja is allowed to see what’s hidden under his bathrobe.
And who doesn’t like wearing soft fluffy pink bunny slippers?

Day 14:
Semi-Formal Outfit 1
•Beige Coat
•Collared Shirt
•Jeans
•Loafers
-
One thing about Johannes Faustuz is that he’s not always the best dressed (his wife Freyja picks out his outfits) but he’s never late for an appointment.

2020 Autumn pic of the Kasper Family - masked and unmasked versions.
So what’s inside the big brown bag?
Who knows.
It could be a bunch of extra hand sanitizer, masks, and gloves - or it could be an array of weapons for soul reaping and monster slaying.
