Fashion Versus: Richard [Death/Der Sensenmann] compared to his son Johannes when his human form was about the same age (mid 30s-early 40s)

Speed art of Death / Der Sensenmann (Richard Kasper, Johannes’ father).
[approx. 1h 25m total time]
The original concept for Death was inspired by The Grim Reaper from the Swedish film “SEVENTH SEAL” and was meant to be Freyja’s father, Erik, since he’s Swedish. However, considering Erik’s animosity towards his son-in-law Johannes and realizing that version of Death would be too literal (a hunched man cloaked in black), I drew inspiration from one of my all-time favorite “TWILIGHT ZONE” episodes, “Nothing in the Dark.” In this episode, Death disguises himself as a handsome policeman injured by gunfire and convinces an old woman to let him into her home to recover. This episode inspired three OCs: Robert Redford’s portrayal of Death influenced Richard’s final look, the police officer idea led to the creation of Batty Sorensen, and the old woman inspired Sigrid’s mother, Aina.[Sigrid’s character design was inspired by a combination of Sarah from “LABYRINTH” and actress Brooke Shields, who was popular in the 1980s - the time period when she and Richard met]

A Grim Reaper and his junior…
As descendants of Death, both Johannes and Cedrick exhibit black skeletal tattoos when they perform their tasks of collecting souls and eliminating rogue monsters. They also possess “Odin’s Eye” - a unique magical trait exclusive to the Kasper Family. This ability allows them to see souls, lifespans, health conditions, and the strengths and weaknesses of whoever or whatever they gaze upon. When activated, their right green eye glows yellow, while the left blue eye remains normal (in many cultures, it is believed that people with heterochromia can perceive both the earthly and heavenly realms simultaneously).

Stern the Amabie has been sneaking out of her fishbowl for some cookies. At least she’s not using Johannes‘ tea as a hot bath - a teacup is the perfect size for her to soak in.
Stern was found by the Kasper’s Norwegian Forest Cat Klimt, nearly perished by dehydration. Though it’s essential she stays in her fishbowl for safety and health, she tends to crawl out to explore her immediate surroundings and involve herself in whatever a family member is doing (she enjoys reading and watching TV the most).

Papa doesn’t mess around if Cedrick shows him some attitude.
💀
Cedrick is in the older age range of Gen Alpha (around 14 YO), and my experience with the youngest generation so far hasn’t been the most pleasant per se (I’m a Millennial; Gen Z is okay with me being not too much older than the oldest Zoomers out there). Most Alphas I’ve encountered have been little sh!ts who need to be taught basic human decency in society like not screaming running around in stores, stomping overhead at my previous apartment, paying attention around themselves while walking instead of watching TikTok on their parents’ phones (yep, I’ve seen really little kids glued to a phone watching nail tutorials and alpha male Toks while waiting in line at Disneyland 😫 Seriously, WTF are these parents about my age letting their tots on an app with a MINIMUM AGE OF 13?! And you wonder why kids these days have terrible attention spans, are obsessed with beauty products, and have bad manners…) I get kids are work and tiring (it’s why I chose not to have any), but if parents don’t like it when people are trying to correct their kids’ behaviors for them (like other members in society like teachers, myself, elders, etc.) then they really should put the effort in doing it themselves - otherwise DON’T HAVE F-KING KIDS! It’s absolutely ridiculous seeing people going like “Oh, but yelling at my kids will hurt their feelings!” There’s yelling to get one’s attention to stop the bad behavior, and there’s yelling that belittles the character - it’s not brain surgery knowing the difference. And if a kid acts out, get them outside, set them aside, and lecture them about their behavior - not give in and buy the things they’re screaming for otherwise they’ll keep having tantrums at the stores.
[I just had to rant because OMG… What I’ve heard and seen regarding kids these days is bad; we really need more 3rd spaces for kids instead of the Internet - like make a FNAF Chuck E. Cheese horror escape room]

“Merry Christmas you filthy animal!”
It’s finally that time of the year again, and Cedrick felt like sharing a little tidbit on Mari Llwyd - a Welsh celebration featuring a singing zombie horse that wants inside your house for food, drink, and merrymaking.

It’s been so long since we’ve seen our cute Junior Grim Reaper…

I’ve been really burned out, my brain hasn’t been able to create, and I’m also getting prepared for my annual trek to Del Mar for work (thus I won’t be able to draw as much).

“Forbidden Love” / „Vorboten Liebe“
Richard Kasper, who is the incarnation of Death, is tasked by Fate with collecting the soul of Sigrid Jörgensen-Faustus, a teenage Wicca girl who is cursed to live for only a few more years.
However, as he spends more time with her, Richard falls in love with Sigrid.
Despite his ultimate task of collecting her soul, they continue their relationship, aware that they have limited time together.

Felt like drawing a Manga style pic this time…
I’m just feeling drained from producing a lot of content in a short period of time, and also feeling a bit depressed (I’m really getting frustrated with IG - it’s getting harder to find people’s content on my feeds beneath the promoted stuff, and obviously it’s harder to share art as Reels since they take more time to make more “special”).

Though he identifies himself with male pronouns, Cedrick isn’t afraid to wear things that go against gender norms (in fact, most Grim Reapers like himself & his father Johannes do so because the concept of death has no gender).
With a mother in the Fashion Industry, Cedrick grew up seeing, trying, & appreciating all kinds of styles; also as Johannes & Freyja’s only child, he wasn’t raised with strict gender roles due to circumstances (Freyja wanted a girl but health conditions allowed her to have one child - it was a boy; since Johannes was left behind by Richard as a toddler, he vowed to be present & supportive of his son in whatever he likes & decides to do).
Cedrick’s look here is inspired by Gucci, one of the world’s most popular luxury fashion brands alongside Dior, Fendi, Channel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Versace, etc.; his sandals are Birkenstocks, currently a very popular shoe brand amongst Millennials & younger generations (Crocs are another “ugly comfy” shoe brand).

Another #sketchdump with more OC Notes…
Still feeling tired, had family visiting over, and my Drawing ✍🏻 still hurts, so not sure if and when I’ll post anything new for a while…
Short Comics, Sketch Dumps, and OC Notes are easier to make than full-out Pics and Reels, but everywhere is becoming so demanding and competitive for content that it’s literally burning me out mentally, physically, and emotionally (seriously - people can’t believe how much I’ve made since 2016 and barely have Likes, lol).
I’ll try to make some kind of a Poll on my InstaStory to find out which OCs my IG Followers want to have more Notes on.

Sigrid’s Fire 🔥
-
Despite having to take Activation Potions, Sigrid can easily cast spells other Witches (particularly Enchantresses) take years to master mainly because of her insane high amount of Magical Potential (MP) and constantly practicing to prove that a mere Wicca is capable.
Just by herself Sigrid’s spells can pack a punch and are visibly spectacular, but when she has someone she cares for nearby while casting spells is when her magic shines most - a common sign that a Witch is in love and is willing to do whatever to show her abilities that she’ll protect them.
Sigrid’s look is heavily influenced by 1980s (maybe a hint of early 1990s) black Chanel dresses.
It’s not often she wears formal clothes (she mostly wears school-related clothing), and she makes her own dresses and gowns for the trimonthly debutantes her academy holds for its students to demonstrate their magical abilities.

Death and cats…
(unposted pic from about a month ago)
He claims to hate them, especially when they have multiple lives (it’s like the game “Wack-A-Mole” to him) and chase souls as if they’re yarn balls (making his basic task of collecting souls more difficult), but deep down within the dark void of his hollow rib cage Death has a soft spot for them due to their affection towards him and occasional gift of lost souls they managed to catch.
Though all cats can see souls, cats with odd-eye also share his ability to simultaneously see both living and death beings (many cultures see Heterochromia as magical, the green/brown eye representing the Earth and life, while the blue represents Heaven and death).
-
As a human, Death refers to himself in 3rd person and takes on his current incarnation’s name (Richard Kasper) to avoid confusion amongst Grim Reapers and to keep his true identity secret to anyone else aside from family (99% of people who discovered he’s Death die within hours, including ex-lovers and coworkers; his girlfriend Sigrid is an exception because she’s already cursed to have her soul personally collected by Death at a set time).

Richard & his older brother Heinrich.
(There’s mention of a younger sister, but Sabrina isn’t a Kasper - she’s their half-sister from their mother’s affair with the American soldier she left with when Heinrich was 12 and Richard was 4)
-
Their personalities may be opposites of each other, but like peanut butter and jelly they’re inseparable when they’re put together - especially when hunting monsters and collecting souls as Grim Reapers.
Heinrich is always around to pull the reins on Richard’s impulsive behavior while Richard tags along to make sure Heinrich has a fun time no matter what.
Ever since their mother left their father, the brothers made a pact to stick together and watch over each other.
This bond was tested when Heinrich broke his betrothal with Sonja and married Yoko instead, forcing the duties of Heir to Richard despite being the younger son and incarnation of Death with a limited lifespan (he expected to live a carefree playboy life); but with the birth of Hansel & Hannah (Death has a soft spot for children, always reluctant to take souls from them because of wasted potential), Richard reaffirmed his oath with Heinrich and took his role as Heir more seriously by taking their father’s ultimatum - accepting an arranged engagement with an Enchantresses named Sheila.
But since becoming bankrupt and losing his medical practice due to her frivolous spending, Richard broke off his engagement with Sheila and now takes up random jobs within the occult community.
Heinrich & Yoko had offered to let him stay in their house, but Richard mainly stays in a distant cousin’s hotel in Copenhagen where he can keep a close eye on his latest assignment sent directly from Fate: observing a teen girl named Sigrid with a rare Life Curse set to go off within 2-5 years.
Heinrich doesn’t like the fact Richard is dating Sigrid now, but he sees the positive changes in Richard’s demeanor.
