Johannes and his father Richard who’s supposed to be “dead” in his role as Death Himself. 💀 Four years after Sigrid’s death, Richard’s body began rapidly losing its ability to retain its mortal human form, a sign from Fate Herself that he was needed back in the Underworld indefinitely. Richard knew that he had to contact his older brother Heinrich to pick up his son Johannes while he still could. He gave his son one last pat and kiss on the head as a human, not knowing when he would ever be able to do so again. Johannes was confused and scared when he woke up with his uncle and his family, wondering where his father had gone. For years, Johannes had believed that his father had died from a lung infection due to disease, but as he got older, he started to suspect that there was more to the story. When Heinrich died, Johannes briefly saw his father again as Death, and he finally learned the truth about Richard’s identity. Johannes was bitter about how his father had left him and was not proud of the infamous legacy that Richard had left behind. Richard was Europe’s most powerful Reaper, but he was also known for being a Playboy and for marrying Sigrid, a Wicca girl who was less than half his age. Death still occasionally returned to his human form when summoned by a direct descendant of the Kasper Family or when he was sent by Fate to assist Reapers in fighting God-Class Monsters. It’s something I just learned myself - parts of Medieval Europe really did think butterflies were witches in disguise out to steal the milk and cream people worked hard to get from their cows (thus one big reason why butterflies are called butterflies, or “Schmetterling” in German meaning “little cream thing”). Back to the 1980s with Johannes’ parents Richard (Death) and Sigrid. - Richard was stuck a decade behind in the 1970s for 2 major reasons: he really loved the Disco aesthetic and couldn’t afford to upgrade anything he owned due to financial difficulties (his ex-fiancée Sheila drained all of his accounts dry - leading him to declare bankruptcy, close his private practice, and work odd jobs within the Occult Community to pay off his debts). He’s also frugal guy so he doesn’t like wasting money on new fashion and cars if his current items are still in good condition and can be repaired with little to no cost (he repairs his 1969 VW Beetle himself and buys the latest tech second-hand if possible). Because of his dated appearance, Sigrid would jokingly call him “Old Man” even though he’s “not that old” as a Human (as a Deity he’s over 350,000 years old, but it’s not exactly known how old he was as a Human in the 1980s). Since dating Sigrid, Richard has been slowly starting to get with the times by allowing her make adjustments and alterations to his clothing; he’s even made a few efforts in buying a few new outfits to impress her. Hard to say which of the two are more elusive, Freyja or Hr. Dr. Kasper. Both are Type A career-driven people from distinct bloodlines within the Occult Community - Freyja’s being directly descended from Viking royalty while Johannes comes from a family viewed as scheming and evil due to historical associations (i.e. Witch Hunts, Bodysnatching, Holocaust, Etc.) and having close ties with Death Himself (he’s actually the son of Death and a Wicca girl whom herself has an interesting background amongst the Occult Community as the disowned daughter of Denmark’s strongest Warlock). At the hospital or university, not many people know Hr. Dr. Kasper’s wife, who she is, or even if he’s married despite having a son (people can have kids without marriage or even permanent partners with adoption and surrogacy being a thing these days). As for Freyja, she keeps her private life out of the spotlight as much as possible in addition with her husband and son having pseudonyms under the Ström Family name (Jonah-Fritz and Magnus respectively; Freyja’s pseudonym is Freida when referring herself as a Kasper).
