It looks like an older Cedrick at first glance, but it’s actually a younger version of his grandfather Erik Ström (that glare is what gives it away - see last slide).
Also, Cedrick hates wearing formal wear - he sticks to wearing his medical scrubs or activewear 99% of the time (the other 1% are stuff like denim jeans and casual fashion).
-
The Kaspers are known for their “Death Glare,” but the Ströms have their own “Stern Glare” when they narrow their eyes and fixate them on their target (the “Death Glare” is when a Kasper has their eyes wide open with rage with either a frown or a crazed smile).

Cedrick with his older second-cousins Elizabeth Keiko and Evangeline.
-
Evangeline “Eva” Kasper-Schmitt is Hansel’s oldest daughter, ten years older than Cedrick at age 25; she’s from Hansel’s second marriage to Martha Schmitt, a woman he dumped his first wife Greta Strauss for while in medical school.
Eva is a very quiet young woman who has a passion for history and art; she’s very superstitious and religious, often distancing herself from the Kasper Family. She denies being able to see mythical creatures, but push comes to shove, Eva will only help the family by providing historical records of sightings. Eva has her father’s brown eyes and long dirty blonde hair like her mother.
-
Elizabeth Keiko “Leisa” Kasper-Müller is Hansel’s second daughter from his third marriage to Heidi Müller, another romantic interest he chased after being divorced from his second wife (Heidi ended up divorcing Hansel after an encounter with a headless horseman at the family estate in Kiel, not infidelity like the previous two wives). Leisa is seven years older than Cedrick at age 22.
Leisa has heterochromia like Cedrick, but with one hazel-brown eye and the other the normal blue; her hair is a mix of her father’s dark brown and mother’s auburn.
Unlike her older half-sister Eva, Leisa is very loud and energetic like their father Hansel; like Eva, she wants nothing to do with their father despite his unconditional love for his daughters. She’s into martial arts and weaponry, and is working as an intern for the Ströms. Leisa is eager to learn more about the Kasper legacy due to recent circumstances, often visiting Los Angeles to extract information from Johannes Faustuz and Cedrick to the point of annoyance.

Circa 1992 when Johannes Faustuz meets his future wife Freyja, a foreign exchange student from Sweden.
At age 10, Freyja was a lot taller than Faustuz even though he’s older by six months; this will be the case until they’re 13 when he starts getting much taller than her.
-
They first formally meet in the library where his aunt Yoko works. Freyja was looking for old English literature books, but noticed several fairies flying around; she follows them to see a boy she recognizes from her class reading a large stack of books on mythical creatures, mythology, biology, and science fiction. Freyja confronts Faustuz about the fairies and books, learning that he’s a Kasper, a family like hers familiar with everything mysterious and mythical. Because of their shared history and interests, the two become very close over the years despite not being able to be together all the time.

Uncle Heinrich with Hansel, Hannah, and Johannes Faustuz circa 1983-84. This was about one year after Johannes Faustuz was adopted by his uncle after his father Richard died overseas in Africa due to mysterious causes.
All grown up, his cousins constantly remark how much he looks like their father (both Heinrich and Richard look alike with blond hair, odd-eyes, and glasses - except Richard was taller and didn’t smoke).

Luckily Freyja wasn’t there to hear that - she’s a very jealous woman.

Hyōsube is coming to Los Angeles with Papa Kasper and Cedrick while the Kappas will stay in Kiel.
Johannes Faustuz will build her a special home consisting of a miniature bathtub and a patch of various types of eggplants in his wife’s garden.
Cedrick is a bit disappointed not having the Kappas, especially the baby, but they’re still able to visit the family estate in a future trip.

The Kasper Family at an earlier time when Cedrick was a lot shorter and Johannes Faustuz had short hair; Freyja hasn’t changed much since except how she styles her hair. This would probably be when Cedrick was about 10 years old.
(Faustuz was born in 23 December 1981; Freyja was born 30 June 1982; I still haven’t decided whether Cedrick will be born in 2006 or 2017 since those are the two most recent times October Friday the 13th had occurred)
-
The colors I picked for this pic screams Fall, but the weather here in SoCal screams Summer - it’s been super hot the last several days.🥵🌡
Cedrick’s sweater has each of his parents’ family symbols: the Kaspers’ black skull and the Ströms’ spiral. Freyja’s outfit was based off a sold-out piece of clothing according to a fashion article (see 4th slide), while Faustuz just wears a basic collared shirt and slacks with typical aviator-framed glasses (reference last slide); both Freyja and Faustuz are wearing wedding rings this time.

Aunt Yoko was right - Cedrick kinda does look like a Kappa with that bowl haircut.😆
Baby Kappa just wants to be cuddled by someone who somewhat looks like his papa.
-
It’s a different style, a colored sketchy drawing instead of the colored inked and halftone pics I’ve been making.

Kappa is a papa to a baby Kappa - it’s a boy!
-
Aunt Yoko wants to keep the Yōkai more than ever now that’s there’s a baby one.
But it’s still up to the Yōkai whether they want to stay or not.
-
In this case, these Yōkai became attached to where they’re born and humans depending on circumstances.
Kappa and Garappa both hatched in Kiel and grew attached to Uncle Heinrich when he was alive. Kappa is also attached to Johannes Faustuz, but his mate Garappa wants to stay where they were born. And now with a baby that also hatched in Kiel, it’s more unlikely that they’ll leave.
Hyōsube wasn’t born in Kiel - she was brought over from Hiroshima as a baby attached to an eggplant. She has no attachment to Kiel, and with Uncle Heinrich dead for almost thirty years, Hyōsube actually would like to live with Johannes Faustuz and his family.

This is what happens when I get too focused - I stay up way too late drawing something fancy on my iPad Pro.😴
-
It’s another pic of Hr. Dr. Johannes Faustuz Kasper and his wife Freyja Ström.👱🏻♂️👩🏻🦰
These are the kind of pics I really enjoy drawing the most: OCs wearing minimal fashionable clothing with halftone and patterns. I really enjoy color, but sometimes I just want to go plain black and white.🖤

These two lovebirds again.
With their respective careers/assignments and raising a son, Freyja and Johannes Faustuz hardly ever have time for each other; if they’re lucky, they get to work together in getting rid of rouge creatures or collecting cursed items.
-
I originally started this as a crappy pencil sketch in my mini sketchbook at work, but using it as a base, I finished it up on my iPad Pro at home.
But I should really try to get the Yōkai Project finished before Inktober creeps up - I’m still figuring out my prompt for this year. I’m really getting distracted and lazy, lol.

Which one do you like: 1 or 2?
Also, which sportswear brand is your favorite?
Comment below.🖤

Just felt like drawing something black and white, and I really went literal with black and white...🤦🏻♀️
I ended up with these two teenage OCs in sportswear based from their home countries (Cedrick is German; Tricia is American).

Papa Ström returns!🧔🏼
-
Papa Ström and Cedrick have arrived at Kiel to transport the Yōkai back to California, only to find out Aunt Yoko suddenly wants to keep them.
Johannes Faustuz is having a meltdown seeing these two with dueling emotions - fear of his father-in-law, and disappointment towards his son. I should draw the poor guy’s expression for the next page, lol.
But again, it’s up to the Yōkai whether they want to stay or not; it’s also been about three days since Garappa laid her egg, so it should be hatching pretty soon.
-
Erik Ström is one of my favorite OCs: he’s a bad-ass Grandpa with a tough exterior, but melts like butter when it comes to family- especially for his daughter Freyja and grandson Cedrick.
Papa Ström is from a long proud line of Viking warriors and weapon makers, making him an expert on what to use in killing mythical creatures gone rouge; he’s still baffled by Freyja’s attraction to Johannes Faustuz Kasper, a descendant of doctors who have a dark secret of experimentation for the sake of knowledge and sharing it with people of power (medieval times they were involved with alchemy; in the 18th century, dissecting of bodies of criminals; in WWII, they provided knowledge of the occult and kept records of experiments). Because of this background, Erik Ström often calls the Herr Doktor a “Quack” and not worthy of his daughter’s love.
But he owes Faustuz a lot - he saved Freyja from being married off to his business partner Sigmund, who was actually a mythical creature called Bluebeard disguised as a human (Erik was under the spell of the creature). It’s a possible comic idea, but it’d be a tough one to get done (I’m already having a hard time getting this one wrapped up).
