Out sleeping with the dogs... What did Papa Kasper say or do to be out in the Doghouse this time? - The Doghouse is a part of the patio attached to the house that extends towards the backyard where Freyja grows her garden. Since it’s partially indoors, it’s where the family keeps their dogs (mainly Freud) our of trouble and bad weather; it’s also where the dogs usually sleep for the night if they misbehave. Likewise, it’s also where Johannes Faustuz goes to sleep on a makeshift bed whenever he comes home late or if he and Freyja aren’t getting along due to various circumstances; he doesn’t like sleeping apart from his wife, but the dogs absolutely love it when their pack leader is with them. - It’s a simple color scheme and lighting/color study pic this time. I’m a bit early to be posting this, but eh... I can always draw something else for Valentine’s Day.😛 It’s kinda a redraw from a pic from last year too - Johannes Faustuz is even wearing the same heart-shirt!❤️ (check 2nd slide) - Childhood sweethearts since they were 9-10, Freyja and Faustuz have always had people scratching their heads in confusion on why they’re so attached to each other: “What makes this disheveled Geek the Prince Charming to this Beauty’s eyes?” Both had tragic family deaths (her mother died; his parents and uncle died), both have a deep love of books (English literature is her favorite while his are Science and Historical Fiction), and both grew up in households familiar with mythical creatures and the occult despite being opposite sides of social class (she’s super rich while he grew up low middle-class). Add in the fact she’s a Cancer and he’s a Capricorn, and these two are very a stable couple - except for the occasional clash of stubborn alpha personalities (she’s more social and emotional while he’s very reserved and often blunt). They also worked hard to start their relationship by learning how to be able to communicate with each other (Freyja didn’t know German, nor Faustuz any Swedish or English when they first met). When he’s away from everyone else, that’s when Krampus likes to drop by for a visit and eats a snack. Wunderkind’s Notes (aka Cedrick Kasper) on the Yule goat, or “Julbock” in Swedish. - There’s A LOT of lore to the Yule goat (as well as the Yule boar and Yule log, which are all tied together with the Christmas tree). The goat was one of many kinds of livestock offered to the gods during the Yule, and is a major part of Norse mythology. Men would also dress up as goats to give out gifts and offerings (this and Odin flying in the sky with his eight-legged horse reenforces the idea an old bearded White man with eight reindeer - aka Santa Claus). There is just so much to mention about this curious, cute little ornament. - As for the burning part, it’s not encouraged to burn the Yule goat since it’s now considered a beloved cuddly creature. But you can burn your own straw ornament as an ode to the days when goats were sacrificed for the blessing of a successful new year - just don’t burn the Gälve goat. You’ll definitely be jailed for vandalism and arson. - As for the Kaspers, Cedrick LOVES burning the countless tiny straw goats his mother buys from IKEA (she buys too many, and what teenager wouldn’t like to burn stuff). But he’s never gone so far as to burning the family’s heirloom Julbock since he knows it’s priceless since his Viking ancestors made it - plus it’s made mostly of gold and steel so it can’t quite burn up completely. Johannes Faustuz has a strong hatred for the holiday season, so he also enjoys watching the goats burn up in flames.
