I think I’m showing my age drawing Tricia wearing a 23 Chicago Bulls jersey...😅
(one of my school field trips as a kid was watching a documentary about Michael Jordan on IMAX - that’s how big of a deal he was back in the day; same can be said about Shaq)

I have way too much fun drawing pics like this - it’s no secret that I love drawing clothes on my OCs.
It’s like playing with paper dolls, only digital.
Only question is would anyone want to wear this outfit?
-
2nd slide shows the inspiration: a colorful 1980s collared linen shirt.

I drew the whole family, but I really like how Cedrick turned out - he just had to be the cute one!✨

Chibi style this time!
I’ve had this idea in mind for a while, but never quite got to drawing it...
(It’s currently Spring, this is a Winter pic, and it’s going to be freaking Summer soon!)
-
Sigrid always hated Richard’s fur coat; the only time she ever liked her boyfriend’s coat was when it was Winter.
Whenever Sigrid started shivering while walking to and from school, Richard would rush over to wrap her inside his coat with a scarf for extra warmth and shelter from the snow.
Initially she would be embarrassed being seen with a man wearing an oversized fur coat (her school also forbids dating, making her even more nervous whenever they’re seen together in public), but quickly would be happy just to be warm and safe as he accompanied her home - often at Aina’s request (Aina didn’t want her daughter to walk home alone and get attacked by bullies again).
Sigrid would even occasionally snuggle up and hide herself completely inside Richard’s coat like a kangaroo’s pouch if she felt really cold (and wrote in her diary that she enjoyed doing so just to smell Richard’s cologne and hear his heartbeat).

Brief character notes about Hr. Dr. Kasper compared to his parents Richard and Sigrid.
-
Both parents died when he was very young, so he prefers not to talk about them for lots of reasons.
He does remember his father Richard singing him to sleep as a toddler, but nothing else.
Which parent does he resembles the most?
People say he’s spitting image of his father Richard, but his grandmother Aina says he takes after his mother Sigrid.

Johannes Faustuz wearing Richard’s fur coat as a cape on top of the expensive clothes Freyja dressed him up with (reference for shirt in last slide).
-
Like his mother Sigrid, Faustuz never really liked his father’s coat - it’s ridiculously heavy, fluffy, and oversized (Sigrid did admit that she loved how warm it was whenever Richard held her during walks in the winter).
It’s one of the many things he inherited from his father - aside from daily journals, tape recordings, photos, vinyl albums, t-shirts, watches, and his 1981 red Volkswagen Beetle.
But in rare occasions, he will wear the coat to “put it to use”; Richard wore it to show off whenever he could, while his son wears it to cover up the elaborate stuff Freyja makes him wear in formal events.

Freyja’s homemade specialty:
Kraken Surprise - Swedish Meatballs, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Lingonberry Gravy, and a Kraken’s Leg.
🦑
Freyja takes pride in making this dish for her husband and son, but her boys hide from fear whenever she makes it (her father Erik enjoys eating his plate with no problems, proving only a Ström can master the Kraken).
-
So what’s the surprise?
It’s either how bad it tastes (Freyja’s not a great cook, and sometimes would add additional food items that would affect taste and texture), or the fact that the kraken legs will stick on like face huggers from “Aliens” (both father and son would harpoon their kraken legs for hours until they stop moving).
Freyja takes offense if anyone at home refuses to eat her specialty dish, therefore she takes extreme measures to make sure her family is “fed properly”.

Back to the start, but on the other end - Kimiko now sends back her Hanami photos to her mother and younger sisters in Japan.

Page 13: Farewell - for now.
-
Kimiko still has her habit of bowing every time she thanks people, bumps into things, and says goodbye.
While Hr. Dr. Kasper admires her politeness, he often reminds his nurse that she’s not in Japan anymore and has to adopt more Western customs to fit in.
-
Kimiko isn’t familiar with Freyja’s live blogs, TV shows, and magazines - she only knows her as her mentor’s wife (Kimiko isn’t interested in fashion much compared to her younger sisters and mother).

A break from pink with black...
(I still have another pic of these two in Scraps)
-
I’ll be back with Hanami, and I will start working on Bucky soon enough (F&WS Episode 4 was really 😱).

Page 11: But it’s cute...
-
The tree may be tiny to the humans, but to the mythical creatures, it’s a mesmerizing object in the backyard garden - especially for Rosemarie the Fairy and Junko Akane the Hyōsube (who happen to be both pink like Sakura blossoms).
-
Kimiko hoped it was a tree large enough to lay underneath and look up as the branches sway in the breeze.
But she can at least sit next to it for a selfie...

(Kimiko doesn’t need to be reminded of how petite she is compared to everyone else - especially around you)
-
Kimiko is super excited to see the tree just to see the flowers on it, but she’s might be disappointed...

Quick notes on Dango.🍡
(Something I really miss eating when I was able to get it at Little Tokyo, Los Angeles; I also love Daifuku, and who doesn’t like ice cream Mochi?)

-
Like many kids, Cedrick only appears when there’s food around.
And like many kids, he doesn’t always listen to his father for his own reasons - Cedrick is very impressionable, especially in regards with his grandfather Erik (there’s times even Hr. Dr. Kasper calls his son a mini-version of Freyja’s father depending on situations).
Cedrick is also not very attached to his grand-aunt Yoko’s Japanese culture, so instead he’s wearing a black Kimono-inspired shirt on top (with a skull on the back as a Kasper usually has on somewhere).
-
Cedrick also brought up the term “Wakashū” - often a teen boy in the Edo Era who was dressed as a female until he’s grown up into a man (basically a “pupae stage” or “middle gender”); this concept fell out of fashion and turned into the idea of “Bishonen” (or “Pretty-Boy”) to reflect a boy’s youth and good-looks.

Page 8: Frl. Flicka discovers something delicious...
🍡
-
Fräulein Flicka is the Kaspers’ pet Doberman/Hellhound; she’s a former U. S. military dog who had serious behavioral issues until she was adopted.
Nowadays she thinks she’s a lapdog, often jumping on the couch and sleeping in bed with Freyja and Faustuz.
She can also be quite mischievous, often chasing Cedrick around like cattle, sneaking off with slices of Erik’s Smörgåstårta, or breathes out fire and poops out flaming turds when she’s turning into a Hellhound.
-
Kimiko is deathly afraid of dogs but loves cats (she might like Freud since he’s a dachshund).
She also likes cute little animal mascots such as Hello Kitty, so maybe if a mythical creature decides to show itself from hiding...

Page 7: The missus is fashionably late (as usual).
-
Freyja is wearing the kimono Tante Yoko gave her when she married Hr. Dr. Kasper.
With a guest in the house who’s also Japanese like her extended family, Freyja feels that she should wear her kimono this time.
-
Kimiko isn’t familiar with Freyja’s TV show, live blogs, or fashion magazines, so she has no idea how popular/famous she is.
Kimiko, like most of her fellow coworkers, also assumed her mentor was a single father whose wife died from some tragic event (some say cancer, others say an accident; none of it is true).
Now finally meeting her, Kimiko is in awe and curious about Freyja’s relationship with Faustuz.

-
Kimiko hasn’t seen or met his wife (yet), but now knows how and why her mentor is fluent with Japanese.
-
Most of Hr. Dr. Kasper’s coworkers assumed he’s a single dad, his wife dying from some tragic reason since they’ve never seen her visit the hospital.
(Freyja is alive and well - she’ll make an appearance soon enough...)

Page 5: “Not my father. Not a bathrobe.”
(But a little funny Kimiko says Erik looks like an old Cedrick - he’s his grandfather after all)
-
Hr. Dr. Kasper and Kimiko are both wearing Yukata, a traditional Japanese outfit similar to a Kimono but less elaborate and lighter in weight for Spring and Summer.

Page 4: It’s Hr. Ström, not Hr. Kasper.
-
Kimiko never met any of Hr. Dr. Kasper’s immediate family, so she quickly assumed Erik Ström was his father because of the logic that he’s living at her doctor’s house and is blond like the Herr Doktor and Cedrick.
Erik thinks it’s funny people think that he’s Johannes Faustuz’s father (he actually knew his father Richard), but in reality, the two can’t stand the sight of each other (Erik thinks Faustuz is not worthy enough for his daughter Freyja for lots of reasons).
