A day trip to the beach away from Copenhagen… (Original Version) - On weekends Richard and Sigrid would often go out to the beach during the day and Tivoli Gardens or the movie theater very late at night to avoid being caught dating (the biggest reason being that Sigrid’s academy prohibits dating before graduation, the other reason is Richard’s age and not so favorable reputation within the occult community as a member of the Kasper Family). They do eventually get caught kissing at the arcade by Sigrid’s classmates after almost a year dating, leading to Sigrid’s expulsion, quick engagement to Richard, and moving away to Kiel to avoid further harassment. Even in present times the occult community in Copenhagen still whisper about their taboo relationship and Sigrid’s sudden expulsion from the academy despite being its most powerful Witch - which is the biggest source of their son Johannes’ discomfort whenever he visits his grandmother’s flower shop (he doesn’t like the fact his father was so much older than his mother and was ultimately the cause of her downfall, but he’s grateful that Richard really loved Sigrid and as Death still holds her soul close by in the Underworld). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #motionleap #originalcharacter #originalcharacters #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #femalecharacter #couple #man #girl #beach #1980sstyle #frauv8_ocs #animestyle

2.5 hours spent on this pic (not including the primary sketches, which took at least 1 hour to make). I also used different brushes to color Richard, giving him a paint marker look - basically some coloring practice. — I had made an Insta-Story earlier briefly mentioning about how Richard was developed, but I’ll elaborate here: Originally Freyja’s father Erik was planned to be Death with a design based of Death in the 1957 Swedish film “The Seventh Seal”, but a scrawny pale man in a black cloak didn’t match up with Erik’s boisterous and proud personality - he’s Viking royalty and making him a weapons maker was the better choice (not to mention he hates Johannes, which wouldn’t work well if he was Death since he’d call Johannes a worthless Grim Reaper for the family business - totally not what Johannes is). - Richard was already written out as an “Angel of Death” - a Viking prince who converted to Christianity, became a cardinal only to be killed by another out of jealousy, and was given immortality by evil spirits to take revenge on the descendants of the man who murdered him; therefore making him Death and having his son working for him made perfect sense. Richard was also described as handsome and cunning, so it also didn’t make sense to make him look like Death from “The Seventh Seal” (and Richard isn’t Swedish); instead he gets based off of Death in one of my favorite “Twilight Zone” episodes titled “Nothing in the Dark” - Death is a handsome man who finally got an old lady to let him in her home so he could take her soul away to eternity (familiar vibes to how Richard is sent to collect Sigrid’s cursed soul). The actor who played Death was also a popular heartthrob of the 1970s, making it perfect inspiration - Richard’s fashion sense is stuck in the 1970s, he’s known to be a heartbreaking playboy, and he loves Disco during the 1980s when it was declared dead (adds to the insult of “Old Man” he got from Sigrid when they first met). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipadart #ipaddrawing #originalart #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #malecharacter #man #grimreaper #death #scythe #souls #animestyle #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk

Another page from Sigrid’s diary: First debutante ball officially as a couple. - Every three months the academy has a debutante ball for the students to display their learned skills in front of their family, faculty, and other members of occult society who are invited (often foreign students and potential suitors). Despite being Denmark’s strongest warlock’s daughter and the academy headmistress’ stepdaughter, Sigrid usually is ignored and looked as inferior being the only Wicca amongst Enchantresses (having a life curse also makes fellow occult members dismiss her since she’s not expected to live past 20). But being able to cast advanced illumination and illusion spells with the use of activation potions, no one can deny the fact she’s the most powerful Witch at the academy; this often leads to classmates shattering her bottles of activation potions to prevent her from showing her skills and defending herself from magic attacks. Since meeting Richard, Sigrid’s abilities only grew more consistent and powerful due to being able to practice with the use of the capsules of concentrated activation potion he developed in place of potion bottles; their relationship also grew more intimate, adding to Sigrid’s ability to focus her energy outward for everyone to see (her usual introverted behavior kept her spells less of a visual display despite their complexity). Being one of occult society’s notorious members and available bachelors has many shocked seeing Richard at every trimonthly debutant at the academy since Sigrid’s 15th birthday; they also see how much this Grim Reaper is doting over his assigned victim, wondering if there’s more to his constant presence besides watching and waiting for the precise moment he takes her soul (dating was also prohibited at the academy until a student graduates at age 21). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #frauv8_ocs #femalecharacter #couple #animestyle #comic #black #green #red #orange #white #brown #grey #gray #suit #tuxedo #gown #dress #rose #roses #flowers #notes

Some more old stuff of Richard and Sigrid that were originally posted as Instastories and/or TikToks in the last few months… - I’m just taking my time resting and tinkering with ideas… Cactus Cat will continue with a few more pages, but it’s not quite a good story… I’m still figuring out what mythical creature or occult concept to feature regarding my OCs - perhaps another sheet explaining the difference between the two types of Witches, how Tricia is able to see ghosts/spirits, or a character sheet featuring more background OCs such as Freyja’s mother Sonja or Tyrone’s grandma Louella. Idk… All I know is that I’m feeling tired… — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #malecharacter #femalecharacter #couple #animestyle #frauv8_ocs

“Caught you!”❤️ - Sigrid would watch people out of curiosity from behind plants and walls to see what kind of personality they have. Richard was smitten by her glaring blue eyes and acknowledged her curiosity about him, unlike her childhood crush Batty who’d immediately do everything to avoid her. Because of this unexpected reciprocation, Sigrid doesn’t know how to react - leading to lashing out in frustration and acting as if she doesn’t like Richard. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipadart #ipaddrawing #originalart #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #originalcharacters #malecharacter #femalecharacter #couple #animestyle #animestyleart #flowers #comic #webtoon #pink #green #yellow #red #brown #black #white #loveatfirstsight #love #crush #blush #frauv8_ocs

Sketch dump featuring Johannes and his father Richard (Death in his human form). • Richard took care of Johannes for about the first 4 years of his life (Sigrid died a day after giving birth). As the toll of transformation between his true form and his human body was starting to show, Richard left his toddler son with his brother Heinrich’s family and returned to the Underworld (Sigrid’s mother Aina still held a grudge towards him after she witnessed his transformation into Death and removing Sigrid’s soul). Though Johannes doesn’t remember much of his early childhood, Richard took him almost everywhere he went (he does have a favorite memory: hearing Richard singing him to sleep; Johannes sings karaoke to emulate his father’s voice). • It’s not known if Johannes is a Deity like Death, but he (as well as his son Cedrick) show physical signs as a direct descendant - his bones appear as tattoos when he performs his role as Grim Reaper (they still paint their faces / wear masks as part of traditional Reaper attire). It makes sense he’s ranked the world’s top Grim Reaper as the result of a match setup by Fate Herself (she thought Death could use a few helpers with the exponential boom of human souls over millennia). • Death normally is in his skeletal form, but whenever there’s a case of a God-class monster spawning or going rogue, he’s often summoned back temporarily as a human again to assist Reapers; he can only be summoned by direct relatives, and most of the time he returns as the age Richard would have been if he was “still alive” (he has returned at the age he “died” a few times, making it awkward for Johannes because they’ll physically be around the same age). Johannes doesn’t like having him around mainly because he’s reminded of how Richard left him behind as a boy (as well as the inappropriate nature of his parents’ relationship despite being in an era when it’s tolerated - his mother was only a teenager while his father was more than twice her age). — #sketchdump #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #originalcharacters #originalcharacter #frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #men #man #baby #fatherandson #red #blue #yellow #green #black #white

Another sketch dump… Still waiting to get my first “6 Fan Arts” of the year to get filled out while it’s pouring buckets outside… • After the Valentine’s Day she was rejected by her childhood crush, Sigrid started getting weekly visits from her assigned Grim Reaper. Initially she was annoyed seeing Richard, especially when her mother doted over him as if he’s a missing son, but over time Sigrid grew to like her unlikely suitor as she learns of their shared interests and how much nicer he was in comparison to Batty; it got to the point she looked forward to his visits and enjoyed having long conversations about life, slowly falling in love with him (even when he revealed his true identity as Death Himself). • Richard and Sigrid’s romance had been kept secret a year before her classmates discovered them kissing at the local arcade (it was no secret Sigrid had been inviting Richard to trimonthly debutantes under the guise that he was there to observe as her Grim Reaper). Her stepmother, Headmistress of the academy, hoped Sigrid would spend the rest of her life as the school’s most powerful Witch, but was disappointed Sigrid choose to be expelled after violating the rule against dating as a student; Sigrid soon married Richard and moved to Kiel where they could avoid unwanted attention, leading to the end of her life after giving birth to their son. • Though Richard loved Sigrid, as Death he was more than eager to snatch out her soul. Fate assigns top cases such as cursed individuals for Death Himself to take care of personally, but Sigrid’s case was puzzling because Fate ordered him to only observe her before he could finally collect Sigrid’s soul. It’s not known why Fate Herself allowed Death to woo and marry Sigrid, but it’s hinted that she wants more assistance for Death regarding the Underworld with more wandering souls managing to escape (Johannes is as powerful as his father despite being half human). • A photo of them that their son Johannes keeps on his desk. — #sketchdump #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #originalcharacters #originalcharacter #frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #femalecharacter #couple #red #blue #yellow #black #white

Sigrid Jörgensen-Faustus out in the rain tending to a budding plant. Sigrid has a soft spot for plants, especially being a Wicca and living in a flower shop; she often calls plants her “children” since she expects to die before she could get married and have a child of her own (she’s been cursed to live less than 20 years and is currently 15 - 16 years old). She doesn’t have friends at school or in her neighborhood - therefore she spends a lot of her extra time either studying spells, sewing new clothes, playing arcade video games, or working alongside with her mother in their flower shop. Sigrid’s heart has also been shattered by her childhood crush Sebastian “Batty” Sorensen who rebuffed her confession and started dating an older schoolmate of hers at the Danish Enchantress Academy (Batty had just returned to Copenhagen after years attending the police academy, exasperating Sigrid’s pining for him); she wants to die from her life curse now after feeling rejected and undesired by the man she always loved, but the Grim Reaper assigned to Sigrid has been constantly reminding her it’s not quite time to go yet (he’s also taken a liking to her snarky attitude and youthful beauty with the desire to take her soul for himself). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #originalcharacter #femalecharacter #schoolgirl #frauv8_ocs #rain #rainyday #umbrella #prequel #motionleap

“Did you think you can get away from me?” Based on Fate’s timeline, he could either be helping someone live longer as Dr. Richard Kasper - or he’s been sent to snatch out souls directly as Death. It’s said Death take form of something or someone who can get close to their victims - because of his highly acclaimed profession, good looks, and charming demeanor, Richard can get close to his intended targets without setting off too much suspicion; when one does suspect something, it’s usually too late. Initially it was supposed to be the case for his current intended victim Sigrid Jörgensen-Faustus, but lately his instructions from Fate are to assist and observe her for some time; Fate assigned the ultimate Grim Reaper to Sigrid due to the curse her Warlock father placed on her - Sigrid’s lifespan has been shortened to less than twenty years and transferred to extend her father’s supposedly because she was not born as a son or Enchantress (instead she was born as a Wicca like her mother with “Magical Potential” exceeding her father’s). Richard / Death has been feeling a bit confused and concerned about his current case, especially since he’s become intrigued and smitten by Sigrid’s beauty and snarky personality. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #animestyle #prequel #motionleap #malecharacter #frauv8_ocs #doctor #grimreaper #soul #chair #sitting #black #white #pink #blue #green #yellow #red #orange #vhsaesthetic

Another fashion era comparison with Johannes and his parents Richard & Sigrid: 1980s suit vs 2020s suit It seems like anything from the 1980s to the 2000s are in and fair game (so basically just rewear whatever you and your family accumulated over the years and / or go to a local thrift shop - there’s more than enough clothing available to choose from and it’s sustainable). The 1980s really loved their suits, especially Armani for men and the female “Power Suit” with the shoulder pads & tailored skirts. Sigrid loves dressing up whenever she gets a chance to wear something that’s not her school uniform, especially gowns & suits to show off her sewing skills; Richard finally updated his wardrobe from the 1970s soon after dating Sigrid to show an effort to keep up with appearances (he normally wears a black robe as Death; when summoned back as a human, he tries to wear new current clothing appropriate for his “adjusted age”). [as Death he’s over 350,000 years old, but as Richard he’s currently ~80] The 2020s suit is more slim (often called “European-Cut”) and in a way has become less formal with the current Pandemic being a big reason (people just don’t want to dress up for work, especially when working at home). Johannes doesn’t like dressing up much (he prefers wearing scrubs, sweatpants, & Crocs or Birkenstocks most of the time for work), but he’s willing to put on a suit every now and then with a touch of comfort on his free time (i.e. wearing a T-shirt & athletic shoes instead of a collared shirt, necktie, & loafers). His teenage son Cedrick wears a similar look to his, but with more colorful patterns & street wear blended in. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipadart #ipaddrawing #originalart #originalcharacterart #originalcharacters #originalcharacter #malecharacter #femalecharacter #characterdesign #frauv8_ocs #animestyle #1980sfashion #2020sfashion #suit #powersuit #fashion #clothing #grey #gray #white #red #pink #black #patterns #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted one of these… • Because Sigrid is a Wicca unable to cast spells without an activation potion, her Enchantress schoolmates target her knowing she can’t retaliate (they would also steal & shatter her potion bottles and slash her bicycle tires). Her mother Aina usually treats her wounds when she returns home from school, but this one time she had an appointment & asked Richard to watch over the flower shop. What really pisses him off the most is people attacking others who are defenseless (he broke off his engagement with his ex because she was abusive to his sister-in-law & her children); seeing Sigrid’s face covered up with cuts & bruises was more than enough to trigger his desire to hunt down those who hurt her. • Regardless whether he’s human or Death, Richard is known for his vengeful temper - he takes souls without warning, and leaves behind a bloody scene to warn monsters & humans alike that he doesn’t mess around. Knowing this, Sigrid often has to plead with her boyfriend before he gets too haughty & blinded with rage for her sake. (Kasper men are infamous for being extremely protective of their family members & lovers, the only trait the occult community as a whole admires about the Kaspers) • It’s not often Freyja gets time off with her husband. Because she’s the wife of a Reaper, there’s an occasional monster nearby targeting her; what the monster often doesn’t know is that Freyja’s the daughter of an occult weapons maker & can fight almost as well as Johannes. Of course, sometimes it’s only just the press poaching for shots of her with her elusive man. • When all 3 generations are gathered together, there’s serious trouble amongst the world of the mythical & occult. Johannes doesn’t like having to work with his father Richard/Death due to personal issues, plus he does his best not to involve his son Cedrick for Freyja’s sake. Death can only be summoned by his direct blood-relatives for help (father, nephew, niece, son, and grandson). — #digitaldrawing #digitalart #ipaddrawing #sketchdump #originalcharacters #originalcharacter #femalecharacter #malecharacter #characterdesign #comic #frauv8_ocs

“This little glass vial has as much power as a whole 500 ml bottle of activation potion?!” Going back to the 1980s with Sigrid and Richard lying on the green grass in the backyard, looking at and discussing a new version of an activation potion. - Sigrid uses activation potions to access her “Magical Potential” at her academy (Wicca needs an activation potion to unlock their ability to cast spells); Enchantresses can access their magic immediately, thus Sigrid was subjected to bullying and harassment by schoolmates - they would beat her up and steal the bottles of activation potion to prevent her from casting spells. But when Sigrid does have a chance to drink a bottle, her magic skills exceed all of her schoolmates combined - making her the academy’s most powerful student on record (something inherited from her Warlock father, passed down to her son, and now her grandson). To help her, Richard first started concentrating the contents of a single potion bottle into a tiny vial that can fit easily inside a pocket; eventually he developed a capsule for her to swallow before attending school, making it impossible for bullies to target her without getting retaliation (otherwise Richard would start planning out elaborate near-death experiences for each bully before his girlfriend would object). Sigrid’s grades in spell-casting significantly improved over the year, triggering curiosity and suspicions amongst schoolmates and teachers - especially the academy headmistress (who’s also her stepmother). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #autodesksketchbook #sketchbookautodesk #prequel #motionleap #frauv8_ocs #originalcharacters #originalcharacter #couple #man #girl #grass #flowers #green #red #yellow #blue #white #1980s
