As for the character, it’s pretty heavily hinted that Richard isn’t just any Grim Reaper based on how much he’s around Sigrid (who was cursed by her father, leaving her only about 15-16 years to live): he’s an incarnation of Death himself - basically a rare temporary physical form of Death that lasts about 30 years from the time he’s reborn as an infant to his normal state as a rotting corpse. Chibi style this time! I’ve had this idea in mind for a while, but never quite got to drawing it... (It’s currently Spring, this is a Winter pic, and it’s going to be freaking Summer soon!) - Sigrid always hated Richard’s fur coat; the only time she ever liked her boyfriend’s coat was when it was Winter. Whenever Sigrid started shivering while walking to and from school, Richard would rush over to wrap her inside his coat with a scarf for extra warmth and shelter from the snow. Initially she would be embarrassed being seen with a man wearing an oversized fur coat (her school also forbids dating, making her even more nervous whenever they’re seen together in public), but quickly would be happy just to be warm and safe as he accompanied her home - often at Aina’s request (Aina didn’t want her daughter to walk home alone and get attacked by bullies again). Freyja’s homemade specialty: Kraken Surprise - Swedish Meatballs, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Mashed Potatoes, Lingonberry Gravy, and a Kraken’s Leg. 🦑 Freyja takes pride in making this dish for her husband and son, but her boys hide from fear whenever she makes it (her father Erik enjoys eating his plate with no problems, proving only a Ström can master the Kraken). - So what’s the surprise? It’s either how bad it tastes (Freyja’s not a great cook, and sometimes would add additional food items that would affect taste and texture), or the fact that the kraken legs will stick on like face huggers from “Aliens” (both father and son would harpoon their kraken legs for hours until they stop moving).
