It seems like I’ve been really into Graphic Design and Typography for whatever reason lately…
It’s hard to say whether if I’m actually an Artist or a Designer at times…
But lately I’m feeling mentally burned out trying to think of something different besides OCs…
(It’s why I try to get polls done for fun ideas)
It also just feels like I’m not doing a good enough job when I’m drawing this time around…

Richard Kasper’s true form as Death Himself.💀
-
So how does being an incarnation work?
Death’s essence gets transplanted into an assigned unborn body by Fate Herself and is allowed to live as a human for no longer than 35-40 years, therefore he often lived recklessly for fun (which is why he never married and had children - until he unexpectedly became the heir of the Kasper Bloodline when his older brother Heinrich gave up his title, forcing him to look for a bride).
Often times the same families are chosen to raise Death over generations, especially if they have a lot of resources and particular abilities that he finds fascinating (Death has been reborn in the Kasper Family twice before becoming Richard and is fond of their “Odin’s Eye” and notoriously so-called “evil” reputation within the occult community).
If Death grows fond of a person during his limited lifetime, he will keep their soul by his side for eternity.
Currently he has over 40,000 souls in his personal collection over the 350,000+ years he’s existed, often rotating favorites (one of them his older brother Heinrich).
One soul he keeps by his side almost all the time is his beloved Sigrid, but she does occasionally like to wander away on her own to visit living relatives (Cedrick had always wondered why there’s a pink soul continuously floating in and out of the house for years, so he wants to cast a spell to reveal its true identity).

OC Cedrick Kasper and his pet Hellhound/Doberman Frl. Flicka.
-
The red is really vibrant, but I actually like it since it’s complimentary to the green Japanese and German text - which happens to be the same color as a particular bird that reminds me to take my daily dose of languages (I’m already going “Nope!” after picking at a few lessons of Korean, I occasionally brush up on what little French I know, and I’m almost done with two units of German - a language I just want to scream at because there’s no pattern to the three genders, having to kick secondary verbs to the end of a phrase, the Frankenstein words…🤬Otherwise, I’m actually surprised that I lasted this long studying it).
I also included the white and pink background versions after the closeups.

Here’s a quick little doodle for the meantime:
No matter how much he grows up, Cedrick will always be Freyja’s baby boy.

Richard treating Sigrid with ice cream after work at her mother Aina’s flower shop.
-
In the early months since they met, Richard treated Sigrid like a little sister tutoring and accompanying her to/from school, as well as helping out with housework neither she or her mother could do on their own - like killing Tatzelwurms, installing new sprinklers, repairing cracked pavements, and lifting bags of soil and crates of flower pots (Aina used to ask Sigrid’s crush Batty for help, but since he started working as a police officer and crushed Sigrid’s heart after rejecting her confession, Batty has been ignoring Aina’s phone calls and avoiding Sigrid at his father’s arcade; Aina practically took advantage of Richard by having him help out around her flower shop/house while allowing him to woo her daughter).
Often during these trips he’ll treat her with snacks, arcade games, and listen to Sigrid vent out her frustrations, allowing her to relax and enjoy a moment of time for herself away from school and home/work; it quickly became something Sigrid looked forward to, more so when she realizes how much she actually likes Richard versus Batty.

•Normally Richard hates cats because they’re constantly attracted to him and chase unclaimed wandering souls away like yarn balls (annoying for Reapers, especially when he’s the actual Grim Reaper Death Himself; this is why Kaspers have pet dogs, especially Hellhounds).
But since meeting Sigrid (who loves cats), he’s been able to tolerate them more - up to the point he’s attached to the neighborhood tomcat Odin and Sigrid’s neighbor’s cat Hedy.
•Sigrid often gets cold whenever she’s out and about.
She’s not fond of Richard’s fur coat fashion-wise (she said it makes him look like a wild bear), but as soon as he wraps her in it, she immediately forgets how much she hates it with its warmth and scent (Richard wears Calvin Klein Obsession cologne).
•Sigrid’s childhood crush Batty constantly rebuffs her affection over the years, finally up to the point he started dating an older girl from her academy and recently proposed.
She initially took out her heartbroken frustrations out on Richard when they first met, but with each visit to her mother’s flower shop, Sigrid slowly became attached to him despite his reputation as a Playboy and true identity as Death.
She’s finally opening up, wondering if he’d like to go to the formal dinner with her at the academy (I might draw up something with this idea in mind; and because it’s a masquerade, Richard could hide his true form under a mask…).
•And Richard got a haircut…
(the resemblance between him and his son really shows once the curls are gone)
Because Hr. Dr. Kasper looks almost like a carbon-copy of his father, he grows his hair out long - which is straight and silky just like his mother Sigrid’s.

Kinda a redraw of a pic from 2019 (check last slide)…
It’s a bit messy and sketchy, but much more colorful - especially with Cedrick’s new halftone hairstyle.

Some of my lady OCs.
Is anyone a favorite?
• Kimiko Abe
—— Hr. Dr. Kasper’s timid and klutzy assistant still undergoing nursing courses; she’s often annoyed whenever Cedrick is around, jealous of how well he can draw blood and give shots at one go
• Asia Williams
—— The wife of Hr. Dr. Kasper’s coworker/BFF Tyrone Williams; she works at a salon, loves cooking vegan food, and makes her own jewelry
• Aina Faustus (Aino Hanninen)
—— Hr. Dr. Kasper’s grandmother (Sigrid’s mother); she is a Wicca who owns a flower shop in Copenhagen and makes/sells herbal medicine and potions
• Freyja Ström
—— Hr. Dr. Kasper’s wife and Cedrick’s mother; she’s a TV Show Host/Supermodel with strong ties to her Viking heritage and the Occult
• Sigrid Faustus-Jørgensen
—— Hr. Dr. Kasper’s mother; she was a student in an all-girls academy for Enchantresses despite being a Wicca (basically the same as an Enchantress, only unable to cast spells without the help of potions)
• Granger Rodriguez
—— Police Officer/Death’s secretary; enjoys poking at Hr. Dr. Kasper occasionally whenever she’s bored or needs assistance
• Tricia Williams
—— Tyrone’s niece and one of Hr. Dr. Kasper’s university students; she’s also being tutored by Cedrick to help her keep her grades up for a sports scholarship (she plays Volleyball)
• Yoko Kasper
—— Hr. Dr. Kasper’s aunt who raised him since his father Richard reverted back to his true self as Death; she’s a Librarian who keeps notes and records of Monsters, fellow Reapers, and on the Kasper Family’s history

Something I haven’t posted yet:
Quick short of Sigrid looking at her parents’ wedding photo.
Sigrid looks like her mother Aina, but really takes after her father Samuel - mainly because she inherited his coloring since Aina’s albino.
-
Samuel was a well-known Warlock in the occult community who was notoriously known to be brash and heartless; he was smitten by Aina’s rare appearance working as a waitress, quickly marrying her and promised her a worry-free life in elite occult society despite her low status as a Wicca (an Enchantress who solely relies on plants and animals for magical abilities).
After Sigrid’s birth, Samuel was ashamed and disappointed having a Wicca daughter, calling her unworthy of being alive since she couldn’t cast magic on her own despite being the child of the most powerful Warlock of Denmark; he placed a life curse on her, almost removing her lifespan entirely before Aina intervened and ran off with Sigrid - divorcing Samuel immediately.
Because Sigrid’s father is currently married to the academy’s headmistress, she gets a lot of negative attention from schoolmates; but surprisingly with the help of potions to unlock her inner magic potential, Sigrid turned out to be extremely powerful and became the top student in her school.
Samuel never regretted cursing Sigrid, and never bothered checking in her progress in school and personal life, but has been surprised seeing the youngest son of “the Black Skull of Kiel” as her assigned Reaper.

Quick #sketchdump…
It’s easy to tell if Sigrid is lying, embarrassed, or upset because she pouts and shifts her eyes around.
(her grandson Cedrick pouts exactly the same way)
-
•Aina could tell her daughter was interested and curious about Richard since he first visited her flower shop on Valentine’s Day.
From the storage room behind the cash register, Sigrid would secretly watch him kill Tatzelwurms and do housework her mother couldn’t get done due to lack of physical strength (Sigrid’s former crush Batty rarely helps out - especially now that he’s in the police academy, the arcade owner/Batty’s father Didier only helped if he’s not busy with work, and their neighbor/Sigrid’s homeroom teacher Mr. Vannderhaussen isn’t very friendly towards Aina since his cat Hedy would always run away and stay in her greenhouse); as Aina assigned more tasks and allowed Richard stay with them during his travels, Sigrid slowly breaks out of her shell and looks forward to his visits - especially when he drove her to the local university’s library, gave pats on the head (eventually kisses on her forehead), and left random gifts on the cashier’s counter.
•Richard would leave some clothes behind when he’s done staying over at Aina’s flower shop/house, especially if they’re still being washed after exterminating Tatzelwurms from the backyard.
A lot of his shirts (and gym shorts) look similar to Sigrid’s; it’s often after wearing a shirt for a while is when she realizes it’s Richard’s - mainly because of the design and slightly oversized fit (Richard wears most of his shirts tight).
Sigrid would be extremely embarrassed when he sees her wearing his shirts, but Richard finds it really cute - more so when they’re officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

A quick short of Bertie and Hr. Dr. Kasper.
-
Bernadette “Bertie” Santamaria-Santos is Freyja’s quirky assistant who also happens to be an Aswang; she’s not a very strong one (she’s at the lowest tier of the Aswang hierarchy), and actually prefers the blood of cows and pigs over humans.
Bertie is over 120 years old, and unlike traditional vampires, she enjoys spending time outside during the daytime (she hates computer and phone screens due to blue light).
As a Reaper, Faustuz is ready to attack at any moment if she goes rogue, making it awkward whenever Bertie is around for business.
He’s also called “Mr. Ström” by Bertie because she sees him in possession of Freya, a lower status beneath his wife.
It’s not certain if she knows Death/Richard or that Faustuz is his son, but she can sense there’s something odd about him as “not a normal human“ with “an evil eye” (monsters are frightened by the Kasper’s inherited trait “Odin’s Eye” due to its ability to see their weaknesses).
