Sigrid and Richard at her academy’s masquerade-themed formal dinner. - The annual formal dinner is the only time students can bring a potential date to campus (dating is prohibited until they finished school, at about 21 years old; Sigrid wouldn’t live up to that age due to her curse, so she had to keep her romance with Richard secret). Everyone at the academy was shocked to see that Sigrid actually brought a guest with her, assuming she’ll be alone or not show up due to being rejected by her childhood crush Batty and no other boys in the neighborhood interested dating her since she doesn’t have much time left to live. And she didn’t bring any ordinary guy with her - it was the very Reaper assigned to take her soul when her curse takes effect: the notorious youngest son of Europe’s deadliest Reaper “The Black Skull of Kiel” called “Death Incarnate” because of his swift and gruesome method of killing monsters and collecting souls from those who are due. Sigrid also induced a lot of jealousy amongst the girls not only because she was paired with a much older and more refined partner compared to their male guests, but also the heir of the Kasper Family, which despite its dark history is an ancient and powerful bloodline within the occult world (Sigrid herself is descended from a long line of powerful Slavic witches and the daughter of Denmark’s most powerful Warlock, but ended being a Wicca unable to cast spells without the assistance of potions made from plants and animals; she’s also the academy’s headmistress’ stepdaughter). Normally Sigrid would be pissed at Richard asking those kind of questions (she’s not very good with English, she still had feelings for her childhood crush at the time, and the last one was asked because he wanted her to snap back), but something serious came up: Her father unexpectedly came to visit her mother’s shop, which almost never happens. (Richard also looks upset because he hates seeing Sigrid sad, and he’s a little jealous that she still likes Batty despite how he mistreated her since they were children) - Sigrid had a non-existent relationship with her father Samuel, afraid of seeing him not only because he was a powerful Warlock (the most powerful one in Denmark at the time), but also because he cursed her out of spite and shame - he didn’t want a Wicca as a daughter, especially as his firstborn child. He had hoped she was an Enchantress when Aina was expecting, but after she was born and didn’t express the distinct Enchantress trait of sparkling eyes by her first birthday, Samuel placed a life curse absorbing most of Sigrid’s lifespan before Aina caught him and intervened; she immediately packed a bag with her essentials, scooped up their daughter in her arms, and left him behind distraught (Samuel still loved Aina and wanted to try having another child, hoping next time would either be an Enchantress or Warlock). Aina raised Sigrid on her own while Samuel remarried and had a son soon afterwards (her stepmother was the academy’s headmistress, and her younger half-brother Torborn eventually became a powerful Warlock himself). Is it way too early to think about Summer?☀️ Because it’s been pushing over 80F/30C here in California and it already feels like Summer when it’s not even officially Spring yet - I want my Winter weather, Damnit! 😫 I haven’t posted my last two pics here on IG yet (one will be posted on 30 March for specific reasons; the other is already posted on my website frausama.com if you want to see it before it’s eventually posted here). This one is fresh from my iPad, and I don’t think I’ve made anything that screams 1980s aesthetic more than this pic (I’m sure I’ll make another one that’ll be just as much retro). I have 3 versions featured: glasses on, glasses off, and Richard with trunks on (sometimes Sigrid gets too embarrassed that her boyfriend goes out only wearing a Speedo🩲). Sigrid and Richard often went to the beach away from Copenhagen for weekend dates🏖; at the peak of Summer in July, Richard would take Sigrid out sailboat rides at his hometown (he’s from Kiel where there’s an annual sailboat festival⛵️). - 🐼 Side Note: I also just watched “Turning Red”, and boy that movie hit me hard with some of my childhood memories - I actually was in 8th Grade in 2002 just like Mei!😱 (I actually was into the “Backstreet Boys” more than “*NSync”, had a Giga Pet knock-off, collected those stickers [esp. Lisa Frank ones], owned a portable CD player, but I didn’t get a flip-phone until I was 18). From a while back (Feb 2022). Quick coloring scheme/character sheet of Sigrid and Richard. - Sigrid usually wears her school uniform, even when working in her mother’s flower shop, and visiting the library at the university campus where Richard works; at the arcade is where Sigrid shows off her true sense of fashion (more so when she started dating). Richard is very frugal when it comes to attire so he’s about a decade behind when it comes to fashion; after they met was when he slowly started trying new clothes in the 1980s. Richard and Sigrid sharing a quick kiss in Aina’s greenhouse; whenever they think she’s not looking, Sigrid’s mother loves popping up out of nowhere just to surprise them and try to “enhance the mood” (obviously Sigrid would get upset while Richard says “Thanks” and tries to lead Aina out of the room). •••• Because of Sigrid’s life curse, Aina was saddened with the fact her daughter wouldn’t live long enough to get married and have children - more so when the arcade owner’s son Batty got engaged to another girl (Aina was close friends with Batty’s father; both hoped their children would fall in love and get married). When Richard first arrived in her flower shop, Aina was smitten with his looks and charm, immediately thinking he’d be the perfect man for her daughter despite his reputation as the youngest son of “The Black Skull of Kiel” and as a promiscuous playboy (Richard also had just broken off his engagement). Aina knew Sigrid might not like him at first for obvious reasons (Sigrid’s heart was recently broken, instantly called Richard by his nickname “Dick” because that’s what she thought he was, and sensed he wasn’t a normal a Grim Reaper), but was surprised how quickly their relationship developed over the next year. Aina was beyond excited when Richard and Sigrid became a couple, even more so when they were finally expecting a child. But Aina’s view of Richard was shattered when she walked in Sigrid’s hospital room unannounced, seeing the harsh truth that he was Death all along as he pulled and held out Sigrid’s soul (Grim Reapers don’t personally remove people’s souls, just collect them up after the incident causing death occurred; only Death Himself will personally take souls that are marked by curses).
