Oh my…
This year’s MET theme was based off the Gilded Age, and it looked like a sloppy tragic mess - an “F” for execution and effort in my opinion.
There wasn’t not enough puffed sleeves, high collars, pleated skirts, opera gloves, glittery jewelry, bright colors on dresses, feathers and fur, top hats, and not to mention some literally took the “coated in gold” definition.
A lot of the looks came from wrong eras (though some of them were amazing, like Gigi Hadid’s quilted burgundy gown), and some looks were just so lazy (seriously - Marilyn Monroe’s skintight nude-colored dress from the 1960s?! Why?!).
Some menswear were also spot-on like Ryan Reynolds (mens fashion were a bit plain with waistcoats, trousers, and collared shirts with muted solid colors), but again lacked hats and could’ve had some fun with shoes and accessories such as glasses, gloves, bow ties, and pocket watches.
Now who had outfits that did a good job reflecting the Gilded Age aesthetic in my opinion?
Billie Eilish (the colors, silhouette, draping… love it), Bad Bunny (the puffed sleeves, structured coat, and collared shirt), and Emma Corrin (the top hat and her coat kinda resembles a “Bike Suit” and maybe a hint of “Flauntleroy Boy”).

So for fun (with a hint of annoyed spite), in this made-up version of the world where my OC Freyja is a famous personality, she and her family would wear something like these outfits in a Gilded Glamour event.
(and I drew all this after less than a hour of looking at Gilded Age clothing).
*Fun Random Note:
Cedrick’s name is a variant of “Cedric”, the name of the main character in the book “Little Lord Flauntleroy” written in 1886 (during the Gilded Age).

Batty never liked Sigrid when they were kids, more so as they grew up.
But after his marriage failed and hearing of Sigrid’s death, he realized how much he actually misses her and wonders how different life would of been if he dated and married Sigrid.
So seeing Sigrid’s son looking like his father Richard annoys Batty (he hates Richard mainly because he sees him as a rival); but his temper occasionally cools down into pity and nostalgia when he sees how much Johannes Faustuz acts just like Sigrid.
Johannes Faustuz always refers to his grandmother Aina as “Mama” since he never knew his actual mother Sigrid (he never calls Tante Yoko “Mama” even though she raised him after Richard’s absence).
He and Aina were always close during his visits, though there were random moments she would suddenly break down and scream obscenities at him because he looks just like the entity who took her daughter’s life (Aina’s motherly love for Richard instantly turned into spite after witnessing him as Death removing Sigrid’s soul).

Anyway, it’s a #sketchdump featuring all three generations of Kaspers.📚

All three look alike with the same hair and eyes colors, especially Richard and his son Johannes Faustuz, but there’s differences here and there (i.e. Faustuz has long straight hair like his mother Sigrid; Cedrick has a bowlcut which both his father and grandfather had in their younger years).
I also used muted colors and softer brushes this time, almost making it look like an old photo.

“WHO THE F*CK IS BATTY?!”
Sebastian “Batty” Sorensen was Sigrid’s childhood crush since she was about 3 and he was almost 10; she first saw him while playing at his father’s arcade, and ever since she was in love.
Batty always thought Sigrid was annoying watching him from behind, or stammering whenever she tried talking to him; he didn’t think she was worth looking at since he overheard she “doesn’t have much time left to live”.
Batty also didn’t like how his father wanted him to marry Sigrid because she regularly visited the arcade and her mother Aina hired him to help out around the flower shop; he purposely kept being mean with hopes that she’ll leave him alone.
To keep his distance from Sigrid, Batty quickly enrolled at the police academy at Copenhagen after graduating high school; since returning as a police officer 4 years later, Batty has been the seen as the neighborhood beau and town’s hero.
Sigrid was so excited about his homecoming that she made him a large bouquet of rare flowers; her heart shattered when she saw an older schoolmate with the bouquet she gave Batty, declaring that he had asked her out for a date.
The next year on Valentine’s Day Batty proposed to the same girl, making Sigrid hopeless on love (it was also the same day she first met Richard visiting her mother’s shop for rare plants).
Initially Batty didn’t think much of Richard, but seeing he’s not from Denmark made him suspicious (Richard was from Germany and spoke bad Danish).
Batty quickly grew jealous seeing Richard wooing Sigrid as his own relationship was growing more turbulent; he also saw Richard as a rival with his growing reputation as a reliable handyman man for miscellaneous tasks around town (Batty actually was terrible repairing things, leaving tasks halfway done before leaving for another).
Batty finally realized how much he actually loved Sigrid when he heard she had died after giving birth to a son, feeling remorseful of the years mistreating her when they were children.

Normally Sigrid would be pissed at Richard asking those kind of questions (she’s not very good with English, she still had feelings for her childhood crush at the time, and the last one was asked because he wanted her to snap back), but something serious came up:
Her father unexpectedly came to visit her mother’s shop, which almost never happens.
(Richard also looks upset because he hates seeing Sigrid sad, and he’s a little jealous that she still likes Batty despite how he mistreated her since they were children)

Sigrid had a non-existent relationship with her father Samuel, afraid of seeing him not only because he was a powerful Warlock (the most powerful one in Denmark at the time), but also because he cursed her out of spite and shame - he didn’t want a Wicca as a daughter, especially as his firstborn child.
He had hoped she was an Enchantress when Aina was expecting, but after she was born and didn’t express the distinct Enchantress trait of sparkling eyes by her first birthday, Samuel placed a life curse absorbing most of Sigrid’s lifespan before Aina caught him and intervened; she immediately packed a bag with her essentials, scooped up their daughter in her arms, and left him behind distraught (Samuel still loved Aina and wanted to try having another child, hoping next time would either be an Enchantress or Warlock).
Aina raised Sigrid on her own while Samuel remarried and had a son soon afterwards (her stepmother was the academy’s headmistress, and her younger half-brother Torborn eventually became a powerful Warlock himself).
Since cursing her, Samuel anxiously waited for Sigrid’s death to completely rid his connection with her; he was perplexed why she was still alive for some time, especially knowing his daughter’s assigned Reaper was from the infamous Kasper Family known for inducing tragic deaths.

While as a human incarnation, Richard transforms into Death when he’s in close personal contact with something or someone that needs their soul immediately removed by Fate’s orders.
He’s been able to transform into Death since he was about 22, the estimated age when the last bone in the human body full fuses - making the incarnation’s body fully matured.
With each transformation, a little piece gets wasted away from the inside out, leading to an early “death” by age 35-40 and forcing him back into a permanent skeletal form until Fate decides when he can live as a human again - usually once in 1,000 years (Death has been reborn within 150-500 years depending on Fate’s agenda; he’s also been reborn twice before within the Kasper bloodline, giving the family its reputation as “the tools of Death”).
Richard was nearing his expiration when he met Sigrid, making her one of his last victims as an incarnation; normally he’s merciless when collecting souls, but seeing Sigrid somehow tugged at his heartstrings and made him pity her cursed condition by helping Sigrid live as much of a fulfilled life - resulting in marriage and having a son with her (in fact, he was so in love with her that he decided to keep Sigrid’s soul by his side after her death).
If a Reaper needs Death’s assistance, only his descendants can summon him with a spell that temporarily gives back his human form until the task is done (usually within 2 days, no more than a week).

💕Sigrid often gets teased by her mother Aina whenever she’s around Richard, especially when she’s caught chatting with him instead of working at the flower shop (both will talk nonstop about video games and sci-fi movies).
It didn’t take long before Aina would also tease Richard, asking when he’ll propose and give her grandchildren.
📚Sigrid and two classmates at the all-girls (enchantress) academy.
She was bullied for not being very rich (her father abandoned her and Aina, leaving them broke and Sigrid with less than 20 years of life), and relying on plants to create spells instead of “one’s inner ability” (enchantresses tend to be from high-born families with inherited wealth; using plants is also considered “primitive” to modern enchantresses, thus why Sigrid and Aina are both called “witches”).
Despite this, Sigrid excelled in her studies and was ranked top student in the academy - only adding to the ire of her classmates.
Her classmates were quick and eager to get Sigrid expelled when it was revealed she had been secretly dating; but since she died, they’ve expressed regret for their cruelty - especially after seeing Aina with her grandson.
💐Sigrid delivering a bouquet with her neighbor’s/home room teacher’s cat Hedy; she loves making and delivering flower bouquets because it brings joy to others.
She also enjoys riding her bike to see the main sights of Copenhagen to briefly escape the academy and flower shop.
Her pink bicycle is now ridden by her grandson Cedrick who uses it to pick up groceries and other supplies the many critters at home need.

Wunderkind’s Notes:
Witches
Wicca are the original class of Witch (and they hate being called Witches - they prefer titles such as “Herbal Healers” and “Medicine Women”) who create potions from plants and animals to cast spells.
Because of their vast knowledge of healing and curses frightened Human society over the ages, most had been executed - leaving only a few families of Wicca alive (Aina’s bloodline is one of the oldest from the Nordic and Slavic region of Europe).
Enchantresses, on the other hand, evolved from Wicca over the ages to not rely on magic potions and cast spells by directly accessing their “Magical Potential” (MP).
But because they have ability to hide their magical abilities, they’ve become ignorant of the “Old Ways” and discriminatory towards Wicca - allowing them to become part of the upper class within the Occult community.
Richard has a deep hate towards Enchantresses (his Ex-Fiancée Sheila was one) mainly because of their snobbish behavior and mistreatment towards those they view as inferior (Sheila was verbally abusive towards his sister-in-law Yoko and his nephew and niece due to their Asian ancestry; he immediately broke off their engagement when he saw her force Yoko to carry her bags from an extravagant shopping trip that used up most of his income, leaving him nearly bankrupt).

Sigrid never picked up a so-called “Enchantress’ Air” while attending the academy despite being a Wicca bullied by her Enchantress classmates.
The Headmistress of the academy was also her stepmother, and she thought it’d be funny seeing a Wicca struggle amongst Enchantresses.
But it backfired when it was revealed that Sigrid had the highest MP after using potions - making her the academy’s top student.
Richard was also happy that his new girlfriend was a sweet-natured Wicca, adding more insult and ire towards his Ex after what he’s been through to maintain their relationship (Sheila tried getting back with Richard because she wants the notoriety of the Kasper name).

Richard was nearing his expiration when he met Sigrid, making her one of his last victims as an incarnation; normally he’s merciless when collecting souls, but seeing Sigrid somehow tugged at his heartstrings and made him pity her cursed condition by helping Sigrid live as much of a fulfilled life - resulting in marriage and having a son with her (in fact, he was so in love with her that he decided to keep Sigrid’s soul by his side after her death).
If a Reaper needs Death’s assistance, only his descendants can summon him with a spell that temporarily gives back his human form until the task is done (usually within 2 days, no more than a week).

•Normally Richard hates cats because they’re constantly attracted to him and chase unclaimed wandering souls away like yarn balls (annoying for Reapers, especially when he’s the actual Grim Reaper Death Himself; this is why Kaspers have pet dogs, especially Hellhounds).
But since meeting Sigrid (who loves cats), he’s been able to tolerate them more - up to the point he’s attached to the neighborhood tomcat Odin and Sigrid’s neighbor’s cat Hedy.
•Sigrid often gets cold whenever she’s out and about.
She’s not fond of Richard’s fur coat fashion-wise (she said it makes him look like a wild bear), but as soon as he wraps her in it, she immediately forgets how much she hates it with its warmth and scent (Richard wears Calvin Klein Obsession cologne).
•Sigrid’s childhood crush Batty constantly rebuffs her affection over the years, finally up to the point he started dating an older girl from her academy and recently proposed.
She initially took out her heartbroken frustrations out on Richard when they first met, but with each visit to her mother’s flower shop, Sigrid slowly became attached to him despite his reputation as a Playboy and true identity as Death.
She’s finally opening up, wondering if he’d like to go to the formal dinner with her at the academy (I might draw up something with this idea in mind; and because it’s a masquerade, Richard could hide his true form under a mask…).

Because Hr. Dr. Kasper looks almost like a carbon-copy of his father, he grows his hair out long - which is straight and silky just like his mother Sigrid’s.

The annual formal dinner is the only time students can bring a potential date to campus (dating is prohibited until they finished school, at about 21 years old; Sigrid wouldn’t live up to that age due to her curse, so she had to keep her romance with Richard secret).
Everyone at the academy was shocked to see that Sigrid actually brought a guest with her, assuming she’ll be alone or not show up due to being rejected by her childhood crush Batty and no other boys in the neighborhood interested dating her since she doesn’t have much time left to live.
And she didn’t bring any ordinary guy with her - it was the very Reaper assigned to take her soul when her curse takes effect: the notorious youngest son of Europe’s deadliest Reaper “The Black Skull of Kiel” called “Death Incarnate” because of his swift and gruesome method of killing monsters and collecting souls from those who are due.
Sigrid also induced a lot of jealousy amongst the girls not only because she was paired with a much older and more refined partner compared to their male guests, but also the heir of the Kasper Family, which despite its dark history is an ancient and powerful bloodline within the occult world (Sigrid herself is descended from a long line of powerful Slavic witches and the daughter of Denmark’s most powerful Warlock, but ended being a Wicca unable to cast spells without the assistance of potions made from plants and animals; she’s also the academy’s headmistress’ stepdaughter).
It’s still a night many talk about amongst faculty and alumni over the years since Sigrid’s death, especially when they happen to see her son visiting Copenhagen.

Hr. Dr. Kasper hates being referred to as “Death’s Son”, “Der Sensenmanns Sohn”, or even “Dickie’s Boy” by the Occult community mainly because it makes him feel inferior and he hates being associated with the very entity that he battles as a doctor (he’s also a Reaper, but prefers to have his victims on good terms and willing to let go of their souls; as for rogue monsters, he’s merciless like all Kaspers before him).
He’s not very forgiving of his father being the one who ultimately “killed” his mother Sigrid (removed her soul soon after he was born), or how his abrupt “death” came to be when he was a child (made himself look like he died from a respiratory infection when in reality he was rapidly reverting back to his skeletal form).
But being Death’s son also makes many fear him just from hearing his name, especially for those who’ve personally seen Death as Richard Kasper - he was called “Death Incarnate” because of his no-nonsense and cruel methods of collecting souls and killing monsters, often leaving behind a visceral scene and people emotionally scarred (only a very few people refer to Richard as “Playboy Dick” because of his past of dating numerous women before shattering their hearts - some to the point of dying; this is another reason why Hr. Dr. Kasper doesn’t like is father - past lovers had approached him thinking he was Richard).
One more major reason why he despises Death is because people would add how much he looks just like his human form and wonder if he’ll be joining him soon since he’s approximately the age when all incarnations of Death “die” (35-40).
He’s not quite ready to be an extension of Death Himself, but he’s doesn’t plan to quit his current living role as nephew, cousin, father, husband, colleague, friend, doctor, and professor anytime soon.
