Junior Grim Reaper Cedrick Kasper and his pet Doberman/Hellhound Fräulein Flicka are at it again…

A play through of what goes into making one of these pics - the latest one featuring Richard and Sigrid out for an Autumn walk in Copenhagen (Sigrid’s hometown).
Easily I would stay up almost two nights straight to make one, but ideally I’d want to spread out the work for about a week or so to avoid lack of sleep (I have a day job so I need my rest). I’m not making as much stuff as I used to - I’m not a robot, I feel like I’m only drawing for an audience of 0 (or ghosts), and I’m getting old (already feel ancient despite not passed through my 30s). Overall I feel stretched thin and feeling like I’m not appreciated outside of work (work has been extremely demanding lately with people continuously being gone and sick), so I don’t see a reason why I should constantly post stuff on social media if I’m just going to be ignored and overcasted by artists and corporations who are getting all the attention.

October is my favorite month of the season, especially towards the end when things finally cool off and spooky times await.

Freyja’s Secret…
Freyja is hardly seen with her husband, except for family affairs and public work events in which she can invite those closest to her; sometimes her colleagues forget that she is even married because of how elusive Hr. Dr. Kasper is in her work environment.
[Likewise it’s a similar (but sadder) situation for him - his coworkers believe that he’s a widower and single parent since they know he has a son at work with him]

I think BJ took over this year’s creepy season…
Tim Burton films are probably why I have a love for the Macabre in a cutesy way.💀🖤
[some of my earliest memories are of watching BJ, ESH, BM, and TNBC]

Can never get a break from Hedy and Odin…
The fact that cats are known for having nine lives likely adds to Death’s (Richard’s) frustration with them. Cats’ legendary association with surviving danger and evading death makes them seem like natural antagonists to Death’s role. Their ability to seemingly “cheat” death while flaunting their carefree, mischievous behavior would annoy someone whose entire existence revolves around finality and the inevitability of death.
From Richard’s perspective, cats having “nine lives” means they represent the unpredictability he doesn’t particularly enjoy—they challenge the rules of mortality that he enforces. Every time a cat escapes a close brush with death, it adds another layer to his annoyance, as it defies the very thing he’s tasked with overseeing. And yet, cats persistently linger around him, sensing his presence and the souls he deals with, as if teasing him by existing in a space between life and death, mocking the limitations of ordinary creatures.
In this sense, cats’ notorious ability to “evade” death with their many lives only deepens Richard’s complicated relationship with them. While he may begrudgingly respect their resilience, it doesn’t mean he finds their company any less exasperating.

Sigrid still called Richard an old man - especially with his clothing and favorite music from the 1970s when it was the 1980s [he really loves Disco], and knowing his true self as Death is a deity hundreds of thousands years old despite his human form looking around his 30s.
But one thing Sigrid never called him was “Ugly” - she may not like his dated attire, but she was enamored with his good looks, charm, and wits.

Speed art of Death / Der Sensenmann (Richard Kasper, Johannes’ father).
[approx. 1h 25m total time]
The original concept for Death was inspired by The Grim Reaper from the Swedish film “SEVENTH SEAL” and was meant to be Freyja’s father, Erik, since he’s Swedish. However, considering Erik’s animosity towards his son-in-law Johannes and realizing that version of Death would be too literal (a hunched man cloaked in black), I drew inspiration from one of my all-time favorite “TWILIGHT ZONE” episodes, “Nothing in the Dark.” In this episode, Death disguises himself as a handsome policeman injured by gunfire and convinces an old woman to let him into her home to recover. This episode inspired three OCs: Robert Redford’s portrayal of Death influenced Richard’s final look, the police officer idea led to the creation of Batty Sorensen, and the old woman inspired Sigrid’s mother, Aina.[Sigrid’s character design was inspired by a combination of Sarah from “LABYRINTH” and actress Brooke Shields, who was popular in the 1980s - the time period when she and Richard met]

Felt quite the urge to make this after watching @thebandghost in “Rite Here, Rite Now”...
Yes - it’s done in an art style like that of “Scooby Doo” and anime. 👻
And yes - it’s blue and yellow like the Swedish flag because the band hails from Sweden. 🇸🇪

Unlike his father, Death (who is merciless and stealthy when collecting souls), Johannes prefers a more compassionate approach. He offers options and conditions upfront to those nearing the end of their lives, aiming to ease their transition. Johannes adopts a kindly and angelic demeanor to make crossing the living veil less daunting. However, he is not afraid to instill the same degree of fear as Death when he encounters someone who he believes is undeserving of mercy and care.

In a second chance encounter away from Aina’s flower shop, Sigrid confronts Richard, asking why he can’t just kill her and take her soul immediately since her Life Curse is due to take effect in a few years. Richard explains that as a servant of Fate, he only follows orders, even though he sometimes questions her motives, such as why Sigrid was assigned to his care. With each meeting, Sigrid lowers her guard and becomes more curious about Richard, while he grows increasingly affectionate and protective of her, despite knowing his duty to end her life.

Hallo there - Wie geht’s?
I still don’t feel confident with speaking/writing German after studying over 2 years, but I can say my ability to read it has improved to the point I can understand song lyrics (I’m looking at you Rhubarb Barbara - and I thought “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers” and “Shelly sells seashells by the seashore” were mouthfuls).
Anywho, it’s been a while since I’ve posted… And I couldn’t stop playing this song on repeat for some time - in fact, here’s my playlist while making this:
1. 200 - MARK
2. Virtual Angel - ARTMS
3. Shooting Star - Kep1er
4. How Sweet - New Jeans
5. Spell - SEVENTEEN
6. KING KONG - TREASURE
7. SPOT! (feat. JENNIE) - ZICO
8. Siren - ATEEZ
9. WORK - ATEEZ
10. Accendio - IVE
11. Algorithm - ITZY
12. Psycho Killer - Miley Cyrus
13. Candy Hone (feat. Synzak) - XHz Official
14. Past Lives (Breakcore) - sapientdream & Slushii
15. Gasolina (with SMACK) - BEAUZ, Tribbs, SMACK & Yeico X Toni
16. Full Speed (feat. Aviella) - CHYL
17. SPRING BREAK - Yung Kafa & Kücük Efendi
18. Dieser Sommer - Tream & treamiboii
This pic is of my OC Cedrick who’s looking more like a teenager again after a period looking like a kid, and looking more like his mother Freyja when he wears makeup (otherwise he takes after his father Johannes). He identifies as male, but Cedrick enjoys dressing androgynous for fun (he’s also a big fan of the K-Pop aesthetic which is heavy on skincare and makeup).

A Grim Reaper and his junior…
As descendants of Death, both Johannes and Cedrick exhibit black skeletal tattoos when they perform their tasks of collecting souls and eliminating rogue monsters. They also possess “Odin’s Eye” - a unique magical trait exclusive to the Kasper Family. This ability allows them to see souls, lifespans, health conditions, and the strengths and weaknesses of whoever or whatever they gaze upon. When activated, their right green eye glows yellow, while the left blue eye remains normal (in many cultures, it is believed that people with heterochromia can perceive both the earthly and heavenly realms simultaneously).
