Going back to the 1980s with Sigrid and Richard lying on the green grass in the backyard, looking at and discussing a new version of an activation potion.

Sigrid uses activation potions to access her “Magical Potential” at her academy (Wicca needs an activation potion to unlock their ability to cast spells); Enchantresses can access their magic immediately, thus Sigrid was subjected to bullying and harassment by schoolmates - they would beat her up and steal the bottles of activation potion to prevent her from casting spells.
But when Sigrid does have a chance to drink a bottle, her magic skills exceed all of her schoolmates combined - making her the academy’s most powerful student on record (something inherited from her Warlock father, passed down to her son, and now her grandson).
To help her, Richard first started concentrating the contents of a single potion bottle into a tiny vial that can fit easily inside a pocket; eventually he developed a capsule for her to swallow before attending school, making it impossible for bullies to target her without getting retaliation (otherwise Richard would start planning out elaborate near-death experiences for each bully before his girlfriend would object).
Sigrid’s grades in spell-casting significantly improved over the year, triggering curiosity and suspicions amongst schoolmates and teachers - especially the academy headmistress (who’s also her stepmother).

But it’s Holiday Season again, so now’s a good time to post it (then archive it, lol).
It’s Papa Kasper dressed up as a Heavy Metal Rocker Christkind.🤘🎸👑

If Papa Kasper had his take on the Christkind, he’d be wearing all black and gold like a rockstar, lol.
(And Jesus totally looks like a metal rocker too… or hippie… huh…🤔)
Despite being stoic, academic, and very by-the-book most of the time, Faustuz does has a bit of a bad boy 1980s-1990s metal rocker that occasionally wants to be channel out (the long hair and singing karaoke with his cousin Hansel kinda hint at it).
Even though their son Cedrick put a lot of effort into making this outfit, there’s no way Mama is passing up the opportunity to have her husband all dolled up in a traditional holiday costume for charity.
I still can’t find a definite reason for the sex swap after lots of research - it’s a bit confusing how Christkind over centuries turned from a baby boy into a grown woman wearing a white and gold dress and huge crown; even vintage cards are often androgynous in regards to Christkind’s sex (just a blonde child with angel wings, white robe, and halo holding an evergreen branch and sack of gifts and often being followed by a deer), but the word “Kind” is gender neutral so… I guess it makes sense in that way?

Johannes Faustuz (better known as Hr. Dr. Kasper)/Pajamas
This guy really doesn’t need much of an introduction - he’s one of my first original OCs following after Cedrick (he’s his father after all).
His personality is mostly nice with crass and sarcastic undertones, but overall he means well and goes out of his way to help others even to the detriment of his patience and sanity; he sometimes risks injury if it means protecting those unfamiliar with mythical creatures and monsters.
He works as an oncologist or substitute professor during the daytime, Grim Reaper at night.
Johannes is the result of a relationship between Death Himself (Richard at the time during his brief time as a human) and Sigrid who was cursed to die before reaching her 18th birthday (she died from complications of childbirth).
His relationship with his father is strained, especially with feeling abandoned since he was almost 4 when Death couldn’t maintain his human form much longer.
As a father himself, Johannes takes his role seriously and does whatever he can to make sure Cedrick grows up into a decent person.

Kimiko Abe is Hr. Dr. Kasper’s nurse at the hospital he works at in Los Angeles (his cousin Hansel is his nurse at his hometown Kiel).
Kimiko is from Yokohama, and the oldest of four girls; she’s very sweet, polite, and kind - but on the flip side she’s very klutzy and follows her doctor everywhere at the hospital to avoid getting lost (if he’s too busy, she’ll follow Cedrick, Fatima, or Tyrone instead).
She initially wasn’t thrilled about being paired up with Johannes when she first arrived (she actually expected someone Asian like herself), but was surprised and relieved to know her doctor is fluent with Japanese and can help her with paperwork and phrasing (Kimiko still struggles a lot with English; Hr. Dr. Kasper’s second language after German is actually Japanese [his aunt Yoko is half Japanese, half Korean], followed by Danish, English, some Korean, and bits of French and Spanish).
Kimiko over time has developed great respect for Johannes, calling him the triple honorific “Herr Doktor-San”; as for Cedrick, she despises him whenever he takes attention away from her doctor and outdoes her in daily tasks such as drawing blood and giving shots (she’s also jealous that he’s a Wunderkind and graduated school earlier than she did).
Kimiko currently has no romantic interests; she had developed a slight crush on Johannes, but it didn’t last long after learning he was happily married and has a son.
Staff often teases her whenever she’s around Cedrick since he’s the closest to her age (she’s 20-22, over six years older than him), but she loudly proclaimed that she prefers “older men”.
(Un)Lucky for her, two men have shown interest in her: the hospital director’s son Vinnie and Johannes’ cousin Hansel.

In reality it’s probably sunny and hot today at Kiel because it’s Summer (IDK - we’ll have to look at a weather app to confirm because obviously I don’t live there, lol).
My OC Hr. Dr. Kasper and his family are normally based in Kiel, a German coastal city near Denmark where it’s expected to get foggy and a little rainy from time to time (their second home is Los Angeles where there’s more work opportunities in regards to their “day jobs” as Doctors).
And being in a drought here in California, we want rain damnit! ☔️

I’m still alive…
I’m still awake…
Work has also been busy (they really missed me, lol).
And I’m barely surviving mentally with Creative Burnout, Artist’s Block, and keeping up with my Duolingo lessons (I’m surprised how much French I still remember from High School and College, and I’m actually starting to appreciate German despite being a frustrating language).
Here’s something I finally finished that has been sitting in the Scrap Pile since June (not everything I doodle gets finished - sometimes it takes months to get back to or it’s never).
Richard could’ve been a bit more refined, but my brain is at its limit - I’m still struggling with my attention span since having COVID-19 (it’s been harder to stay focused ever since; I’ve been recently buying fidget devices and trying to read books on my iPad, and it seems to be slowly helping me regain my brain’s stamina).

A week off and the boats had long sailed away from the canal, but it’s still the end of June, so…
⛵️
It’s kinda a paper doll of Richard featuring something he would be wearing for Kiel Week.
His human character design almost always has him wearing a shirt with a 1970s-80s logo design tied to his hometown via county flag, city/state flag colors, text, and/or sailboats.
(The Kaspers are from Kiel where an annual festival of boats is held in June; Kiel Woche is also Germany’s 2nd largest festival after Oktoberfest)
There’s a lot of reasons why Kiel was picked as the Kasper’s hometown - the main ones are that boats are associated with Death and the journey to the Afterlife (the Kaspers are Grim Reapers), and the name “Kiel” is similar to the word “Keel” which is the backbone of a ship that keeps the whole unit together as one piece (Kaspers are known to be very loyal to their family and who they serve).
Kiel is in part of Jutland that was once ruled by Denmark, making them descendants of Vikings who were masters of boats and the sea; Kiel also starts with the letter “K” like “Kasper”, so yarp - it can’t get any more literal than that.
River cities like Hamburg, Bonn, or Cologne technically could’ve work instead since they have boats as well, but it feels a bit off…
Kiel was also historically a naval port and has a cool coastal climate (two things I hold dear to my heart as a Navy Brat spending my early years living next to the ocean).
And cool coastal areas tend to be foggy, which adds to the creepy ghostly vibes the Kaspers give off as descendants of Death.

MerMay is almost over, so here’s a quick drawing of a mythical creature similar to one.

Stern the Amabie was named so by Hr. Dr. Kasper because she basically has the shape of a star. ⭐️
If she’s not in her fishbowl, Stern would probably most likely be bathing in a hot cup of green tea or sitting next to a pile of magazines and reading them with some classical music playing on the background.
Because she’s so small and prone to dehydration, both Hr. Dr. Kasper and his son Cedrick panic whenever she’s away - especially with their pet cat Klimt constantly interested in her (it was actually Klimt that found her in the backyard fallen from a hawk’s nest and brought her as a “gift” for his master).

The red is really vibrant, but I actually like it since it’s complimentary to the green Japanese and German text - which happens to be the same color as a particular bird that reminds me to take my daily dose of languages (I’m already going “Nope!” after picking at a few lessons of Korean, I occasionally brush up on what little French I know, and I’m almost done with two units of German - a language I just want to scream at because there’s no pattern to the three genders, having to kick secondary verbs to the end of a phrase, the Frankenstein words…🤬Otherwise, I’m actually surprised that I lasted this long studying it).
I also included the white and pink background versions after the closeups.
