This #sketchdump was a bit fun - Late 1970s thru 1980s New Romance fashion with Richard and Sigrid.
New Romance is a look that would work with a Grim Reaper aesthetic, but it’s not Richard’s style (he had a hard time letting go of his denim bell bottoms for straight legs for a year).
As for Sigrid, it fits her daughter of the “Witch”/weird lonely schoolgirl profile, but she’s secretly really into cute frilly pink stuff.

About each sketch:
•Richard noticed Sigrid liked collecting fashion ads from discarded magazines, particularly of high-end power suits and dresses.
Even though he wasn’t fond of wearing formal clothes in general, Richard decided to save up to buy an Armani suit to impress Sigrid on their first formal dinner date as a couple.
•Sigrid works for her mother Aina at their flower shop/house arranging and selling bouquets, as well as tending the hundreds of plants growing in the backyard garden and greenhouse.
It was on Valentine’s Day while selling roses when she first met Richard.
•During a school field trip, Sigrid accidentally bumped into Richard during a tour of the local university’s campus; she finds out that he does research there as an Epidemiologist when he’s not busy traveling abroad and killing rogue monsters.
Whenever she needs to do a report or feels like reading on random topics, Sigrid would ask if Richard could take her to the library for resources.
•Sigrid’s favorite things to eat were ice cream and Rødgrød, both rich with cream; whenever she tried to offer her boyfriend some, Richard immediately refused to avoid horrible digestive issues that come from being lactose intolerant.

Johannes Faustuz can never get a break from soul collecting because there’s always something or someone dying nearby.
Like any task, there’s times it gets so busy he can’t keep up and needs help.
Faustuz is also wearing an updated version of his father’s outfit from the 1980s.

Grim Reapers and Monster Hunters are becoming more rare as less people are in tune with the spiritual, mythical, and occult world.
And not all souls get collected based on what they are (ie. plant and insect souls are mostly harmless, but animal and human souls - especially those who died suddenly and violently - are extremely dangerous and prone to transforming into monsters that harm the living).
Luckily most souls like to gather together and often like to float around the closest Grim Reaper wanting to move on.
But there are creatures that like to chase or devour them (cats can be a Grim Reapers biggest annoyance because they not only had multiple lives but also chase souls as if they’re yarn balls).

“If it doesn’t have holes and they still fit, there’s no need to get new clothes” was Richard’s philosophy - thus he had a hard time switching to the 1980s in regards to his fashion.
But Sigrid often rolled her eyes and groaned seeing him in clothes from a decade ago whenever he visited her; she’d save up men’s fashion articles and cut out each item to place on top of Richard from a distance, taking a photo as she did so to show him later that it’s time to give up his denim bell bottoms for straight leg jeans (he finally changed his pants after they started dating).

Papa Ström has always been a doting father to his daughter, especially since her mother’s death and setting her up to be the family’s business successor despite being a girl.
He’s very proud of his daughter’s many accomplishments, but still questions her choice to marry a “low-class quack” Kasper.
If he’s not busy with his shipping company, he’s developing weapons to defeat monsters with his daughter and four nephews.

Freyja adores her father, but at times does challenges him whenever she feels he’s being too “old-fashioned” and threatened by new technology.
She also doesn’t like when Erik tries to belittle and starts fights with her husband Johannes Faustuz just to prove himself as the “alpha man of the family” (her four cousins, on the other hand, are deathly afraid of her husband after seeing him kill a rouge gnome with his bare hands; they’re also intimidated by Faustuz’s height and encyclopedic knowledge).
Freyja often has to remind her father that she loves him no matter what - he’s just no longer her No.1 man in her life.

While I appreciate the science to get to the point of not wearing masks, I’m still going to wear one because there’s lots of kiddos out there who can’t get the vaccine and are at risk of getting sick, my work environment doesn’t allow me to keep my distance from others within a confined area, it helps dealing with allergies and wildfire smoke, and there’s no reliable “Honor Code” here in America in regards to being vaccinated (seriously - I don’t have much trust for others while living in a country that’s still suffering from misinformation and having to encounter people who refuse following the rules no matter what).
Plus there’s actually quite a lot of fashionable masks, and in almost every near-future movie/TV show I’ve watched people wear masks and scarves as part of their attire (in the far-future it’s helmets).

It’s pic of Richard and Hedy from the “Scrap Pile/Backburner” that finally got worked on after collecting a bit of virtual dust (I don’t post everything I doodle).
As for the character, it’s pretty heavily hinted that Richard isn’t just any Grim Reaper based on how much he’s around Sigrid (who was cursed by her father, leaving her only about 15-16 years to live): he’s an incarnation of Death himself - basically a rare temporary physical form of Death that lasts about 30 years from the time he’s reborn as an infant to his normal state as a rotting corpse.
Death reappears about every 1,000 years, picking families known for being reapers to be born into; he currently has the Kasper Family as his favorite due to their dark history and unique ability to see any living being’s vitals with their heterochromia.
