Happy Valentine’s Day!❤️ This was posted briefly as an Insta-Story, but the actual pic was on my website frausama.com first before posting here (sometimes I’ll post a few things there exclusively before it finally gets posted on my Instagram account). - Freyja’s heels have skeleton hands, and her earrings are raven skulls with ruby eyes - both nods to her Reaper husband and son. — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipadart #ipaddrawing #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #originalcharacterart #frauv8_ocs #femalecharacter #woman #blackandwhite #white #black #red #green #fashion

This was sitting in my Drafts for almost a whole entire YEAR! 😵‍💫 But it’s Holiday Season again, so now’s a good time to post it (then archive it, lol). It’s Papa Kasper dressed up as a Heavy Metal Rocker Christkind.🤘🎸👑 [original 2021 commentary below] If Papa Kasper had his take on the Christkind, he’d be wearing all black and gold like a rockstar, lol. (And Jesus totally looks like a metal rocker too… or hippie… huh…🤔) Despite being stoic, academic, and very by-the-book most of the time, Faustuz does has a bit of a bad boy 1980s-1990s metal rocker that occasionally wants to be channel out (the long hair and singing karaoke with his cousin Hansel kinda hint at it). Even though their son Cedrick put a lot of effort into making this outfit, there’s no way Mama is passing up the opportunity to have her husband all dolled up in a traditional holiday costume for charity. I still can’t find a definite reason for the sex swap after lots of research - it’s a bit confusing how Christkind over centuries turned from a baby boy into a grown woman wearing a white and gold dress and huge crown; even vintage cards are often androgynous in regards to Christkind’s sex (just a blonde child with angel wings, white robe, and halo holding an evergreen branch and sack of gifts and often being followed by a deer), but the word “Kind” is gender neutral so… I guess it makes sense in that way? 😞😖😣😫 — #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #autodesksketchbook #originalcharacter #frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #man #femalecharacter #woman #comic #christkind #holidays #christmas #xmas #xmasプレゼント #weihnachten🎄

Something I just learned and just happened to be coincidental while making this - St. Lucia’s Day is today.🕯 I was doing research on St. Lucia’s Day mainly because it would be something Freyja’s family would observe (she’s Swedish), but also how similar St. Lucia looks in comparison with Christkind (which was original focus of these notes). Of the two, St. Lucia wins with the more interesting backstory - though Christkind has quite a story from being the literal Jesus into the blonde angelic lady who gives gifts and often tops Christmas trees. Swipe one page over and we get to see Papa Kasper dressed up as Christkind for charity (if he had it his way, he’d wear all black instead of white, lol). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #notes #stlucysday #stluciasday #stluciaday #christmas #candles #christkind #december13 #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #originalcharacters ##frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #femalecharacter #girl #woman #man #comic #red #white #yellow

It’s that time of the year when people are looking for trees… 🌲🎄 So here’s some of Cedrick’s notes about the tree that was once looked upon as a cute little odd foreign trinket that’s now the ultimate symbol of Christmas besides the jolly old bearded man. (CK will have some notes on Kringel soon enough - as well as Krampus, candy canes, gingerbread men, snow globes, and whatever else makes the holiday season kitsch AF) — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #notes #christmastree #tannenbaum #weihnachtsbaum #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #originalcharacters ##frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #femalecharacter #boy #woman #comic #red #green

Wunderkind’s Notes: The Candy Cane As big symbol for the holidays, it’s meaning is kinda “Meh… It’s what I expect” and a bit too on the nose with the religious aspect of Christmas. (the stuff on Santa and his numerous derivatives, on the other hand, is so much more fun) Personally I don’t like the taste of candy canes (peppermint is a bit too strong by itself), but it’s supposed origin story is very relatable as someone who can’t stand noisy kids (snacks are definitely one of the quickest ways to keep little ones quiet - I’ve always wondered “WTF anyone brings babies and kids to services?!”). — #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #notes #candycane #christmas #shepherd #sheep #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #originalcharacters ##frauv8_ocs #malecharacter #boy #comic #red #white #green

Quick drawing of Hr. Dr. Kasper in traditional Reaper clothing. (2nd Slide is an old post) 💀 Grim Reaper Notes 💀 As Halloween gets closer, more rogue monsters and lost souls are more abound as the boundaries between the living and dead are weakened due to the waning hours of sunlight, making it a more busy time for Reapers - often times (depending on regional holidays) Reapers may ask for extra help. When Reapers are relocated outside their country of origin, it’s customary to wear traditional clothing to show that they aren’t native and are only allowed to work under the authority of the regional Reaper family in charge (if they’re back in Kiel where they’re from, the Kaspers wear exclusively modern Reaper clothing; occasionally they wear highly modernized versions of their traditional clothing to accommodate the hot weather in California). The Kaspers are normally based in Germany/Scandinavia, but due to medical work they are often relocated in Southern California where another Reaper family is based. The Rodriguez Family are often swamped during Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos, especially with their oldest daughter Granger as their current sole Reaper (Mrs. Rodriguez injured her leg after fighting a rogue jaguar spirit, while second daughter Carmen hates being a Junior Reaper under her sister, often hanging out with BFF Tricia Williams instead); because California used to be Spanish territory, it follows the logic that many countries with Latin/Romance/Slavic-based languages have female Reapers because the word “Death” is feminine and/or their Death goddesses are referred to as female. Despite Hr. Dr. Kasper having a direct connection with Death Himself and being more experienced as a Reaper, Granger always takes the opportunity to take charge and call him “Juanito” (vaguely translates into “Cute Little Johnny” in Spanish; his first name “Johannes” is an old version of the common name “John”) whenever they work together. — #autodesksketchbook #animestyle #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #drawing #originalcharacterart #originalcharacter #frauv8_ocs #frauv8ocs #characterdesign #characterart #malecharacter #man #hat #skullface #reaper #grimreaper

#happy4thofjuly! I hope you stay safe and enjoy your freedom while I’m stuck at work today (I work every holiday except Christmas Day, so I tend to get a bit grumpy whenever they pop up). Just try not to blow anything up or burn up lunch/dinner on the grill like these dads here. — #malecharacter #man #men #originalcharacters #autodesksketchbook #pixaloop #motionleap #digitaldrawing #digitalart #ipaddrawing #originalcharacterart #frauv8_ocs #frauv8ocs #grill #fire #flames #4thofjuly #backyard #summer #summertime

“I love ...” Oh my... Who’d knew Hr. Dr. Kasper had such a potty mouth? 🤣 (sorry - I don’t speak German, but as an English-speaker, sometimes I hear things in other languages that makes me go “WHUT?!”) - I also included a masked version in the 2nd slide (because we’re still all in a pandemic), the original “Dapper Dads” pic, and a heart cookie (Lebkuchenherz) in the end. — #autodesksketchbook #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #ipadart #malecharacter #originalcharacterart #originalcharacters #man #men #fashion #suit #pink #red #black #white #valentinesgift #valentines #valentinesflowers #valentinesday #ichliebedich #lebkuchenherz

Wunderkind’s Notes: Grim Reaper☠️ - I still haven’t featured Granger Rodriguez in a story yet, but she’s a Mexican-American Grim Reaper whose day job is a police officer stationed nearby the hospital where Hr. Dr. Kasper would normally work in Los Angeles. She’s very territorial, so seeing a foreigner descended from Death’s top Grim Reapers in “her turf” has made her even more competitive and aggressive when collecting souls and hunting rogue creatures. In the rare occasions the two have to work together, Granger calls Hr. Dr. Kasper “Juanito” as a sarcastic form of endearment (“Juanito” is like the Spanish version of “Johnny-boy”; his first name “Johannes” is an old Scandinavian-Germanic version of “John”). Like Asia Williams, Granger is a big fan of Freyja Ström’s show and blogs who’s also oblivious to the fact that she’s married to Hr. Dr. Kasper. — #autodesksketchbook #malecharacter #femalecharacter #originalcharacters #characterdesign #notes #digitalart #digitaldrawing #grimreaper

Another #sketchdump. I’m still trying to figure out what to draw next, but doodling these kind of help clear out clutter in my head… I might end up making another Fan Arts pic, some DTIYS Challenge, or even try doing a redraw of something if I can’t figure out what to do. Otherwise, I still need to work on my website and make new OC pics for the “CHARACTERS” section. - About each sketch: •Richard noticed Sigrid liked collecting fashion ads from discarded magazines, particularly of high-end power suits and dresses. Even though he wasn’t fond of wearing formal clothes in general, Richard decided to save up to buy an Armani suit to impress Sigrid on their first formal dinner date as a couple. •Sigrid works for her mother Aina at their flower shop/house arranging and selling bouquets, as well as tending the hundreds of plants growing in the backyard garden and greenhouse. It was on Valentine’s Day while selling roses when she first met Richard. •During a school field trip, Sigrid accidentally bumped into Richard during a tour of the local university’s campus; she finds out that he does research there as an Epidemiologist when he’s not busy traveling abroad and killing rogue monsters. Whenever she needs to do a report or feels like reading on random topics, Sigrid would ask if Richard could take her to the library for resources. •Sigrid’s favorite things to eat were ice cream and Rødgrød, both rich with cream; whenever she tried to offer her boyfriend some, Richard immediately refused to avoid horrible digestive issues that come from being lactose intolerant. — #malecharacter #femalecharacter #man #girl #frauv8ocs #frauv8_ocs #couple #originalcharacterart #originalcharacters #autodesksketchbook #digitalart #digitaldrawing #ipaddrawing #animestyle
